Fabulous site, great for our stopover on the way up and down to and from Scotland. Great dog walking and a pub across the road.

Thank you for using Little Acre as your stopover point on your recent trip to Scotland Katie. I hope to have the loo and shower block that was closest to you totally refurbished and modernised for your next trip this way. Paul

It is a lovely site but you can hear constant traffic from the noisy road nearby. The toilets, showers etc are spotlessly clean but it was disappointing to discover that you have to pay for use of the showers. Having travelled around Scotland for the previous two weeks, not once were there charges to shower and 99% of the sites cost less to stay over than Little Acre. It would also be helpful if there were mirrors in the washroom as it's awkward for men to shave without one. I would like to finish by saying that we received a very warm welcome on our arrival and were allowed to move our motorhome to a different pitch from the pre-allocated one.
Site's response
Thank you for your recent stay at Little Acre and recommending us on Campsites.co.uk, Wendy. We are located quire rurally and during your stay, there was more agricultural vehicle movements than usual - ironically, the pitch that I'd originally allocated to you would have been further from the road and quieter, rather than the pitch that you chose to move to. Yes, the showers do cost 20p for 3 mins and this is shown prominently on the online listing, as well as in the booking confirmation/directions/welcome that I send via email. For a while, the showers were "free", but we found that some people would repeatedly press the "free showers" button, which had the effect of draining the water tanks of all the hot water, depleting the gas cylinders and making the showers unusable for other customers for extended periods of time. When we reintroduced the 20p charge, we also added complimentary quality shampoo, shower gel and conditioner, which was very well received by our customers and the issue of the "free" hot water being wasted disappeared. The shower/loo block has 4 heated and illuminated mirrors within it, to help people see when they are shaving, or using the complimentary hairdryers. In the past 18 months we've invested a substantial amount into Little Acre and we are continuing to do so, to constantly improve the site and facilities. I have no knowledge of what sites are charging in Scotland, but from feedback that I receive from other customers, I'm often told that we provide very good value for money compared to other sites in Cumbria. Enjoy your touring, Paul.

Wonderful park in a fantastic location for either a stopover just minutes from the motorway or for some peace and quiet in a scenic spot. Paul the owner was absolutely wonderful, very friendly and very informative. The site itself is very attractive and well looked after, the toilet and shower block was exceptional and we witnessed Paul checking and cleaning numerous times during our 1 night stay. We would 100% return and hope to do so soon.

Thank you for staying with us Michael and leaving such a lovely review of Little Acre. Enjoy your travels and it'll be lovely to host you again, Paul.

Arrived on site Friday 17th May straight from work at 6pm. Got set up and the friendly owner called round to tell us the location of the amenities etc. We had booked a table for 6.45 at the Crooklands Hotel, so glad we did as they were booked up. The weather was magnificent and we had a lovely walk along the Lancaster Canal, which is just over the road. Beautiful swans and ducks with their ducklings, they must be used to people feeding them as they come towards you expectantly. The site and facilities were immaculate. Locals were friendly, as were the fellow campers. Everyone was thinking of others - polite and not a sound overnight, so peaceful. We will definitely go again.
Site's response
Thank you for staying with us Louisa and bringing such lovely weather with you (in fairness, you also left the lovely weather when you left as well!) The ducks that are on the canal regularly come wandering around the site and are well used to people. The swan that is nesting about 100 yards from our entrance could be about the to have her eggs hatching any day now - last year she had 8 cygnets (& all survived) on the Whit BH Weekend. We have just started the complete refurbishment and modernisation of the shower/loo block that was closest to you, so the next time you're here, you'll have 2 x new facility blocks to choose from. Paul.

Stayed here for one night on our way back from Scotland and it was a lovely spot. Right on the canal for some good walking with a great cafe on the Loch for ice cream. Very friendly welcome. Nice flat hardstanding pitch, very clean facilities and would definitely go back.
Site's response
Thank you for staying with us on your stopover from Scotland Tim. We have lots of people doing the same thing during the season going to/from Scotland - probably helped by Little Acre being 2 mins from Junct 36 on the M6, having a dog friendly pub that serves good food 200 yards away and the Lancaster Canal opposite our entrance. Enjoy your travels and it would be lovely to host you again. Paul

We stayed four nights in this great little site. The owner gave us a wonderful personal welcome and after realising we were with friends, offered us a placement near them. The high standard of maintenance and cleanliness of the site and facilities made us want to return.
Site's response
Thank you for the lovely review of your recent stay at Little Acre Catherine. I'm glad that it went well for you and your friends and changing things around so that you could be closer to each other wasn't a problem at all. Cannot fault this site, very friendly owners, showers and toilets very clean. There is a nice pub within two minutes walking distance, which is a bonus, although very expensive for drinks! What an amazing site this is, it didn't disappoint at all. The site itself is meticulous. Very friendly owners and a very friendly ginger cat! We will definitely be returning to Little Acre Holiday Park, its been our favourite so far this year. Hoping to stay for longer next time :)
Site's response
Thank you for entertaining the Ginger Ninja during your recent stay Anita - he's liked the recent sunny weather and enjoys his role as feline customer relations executive ! It would be lovely to host you again and hopefully our white cat will also put in an appearance for some attention from you. Paul & Sarah p.s. favourite site so far - lovely !

Had a blast. This location/campsite is perfect for visiting so many locations. We went to Silverdale, Bowness, Arnside, Grange over Sands. Morecambe. There is a Pub/Hotel 'Crooklands' at the bottom of the road. Bus stop both directions. Canal Walk to enjoy on your doorstep. Site is pristine, well kept, manicured grass, good pitches. The Hosts are wonderful and very helpful. We shall return again as it was such a great location to go visiting from. Big Asda just down the road for provisions and an amazing butcher in Kirby Lonsdale. Also, a brewery which does super food and ale.

Wow Frank, you got a lot in during your break with us - and you still have Yorkshire to explore on another visit! Here's to your next trip to us. Paul & Sarah.

A good little site just off the M6 - handy stop on the way to Scotland. Dog walks immediately outside the site along the canal and a pub/restaurant over the road. Only down side was lukewarm showers one morning.
Site's response
Hello Charles, Thank you for stopping with us and I'm sorry that the lukewarm showers took the edge off things for you. That was totally down to me - the hot water at Little Acre is provided by solar power and I'd asked the solar power techie to do some tweaks. He tweaked it (as requested by me) and unfortunately the tweaks didn't have the expected result, hence a lukewarm shower for you. As soon as I realised that things weren't working as they should be, we are now heating the water by LPG, until the solar panel tweaker returns today (Thu 15th May), then once again we'll have lots of hot water to use. I hope that you return to Little Acre in the future to enjoy a hot shower again! Paul

Spot on. Would recommend, lovely & quiet. Pitch size good for small vans but may be cramped for bigger vans. Friendly welcome, would return for longer.
Site's response
Thank you for staying with us Ian, and I'm glad that your visit was successful for you. The reason that your pitch wasn't as big as the others is because you booked the electric hardstanding small pitch (we only have 1 small pitch at Little Acre) that we only use for campervans ! - we wouldn't pitch anything bigger than a campervan on it, as it wouldn't be a good fit. It'll be lovely to host you again in the future. Paul

Lovely small site at great location for walking, just a few yards from the canal and a pub which does good food. Met by Paul who is very friendly and checked we were happy with our pitch, which we were. New shower block is very nice, 20 pence for 3 minutes but shower is quite powerful and plenty of hot water. Good area for washing up in the same block. Will use site again.
Site's response
Thank you for recently staying with us and rating Little Acre as 5*'s on Campsites.co.uk, Keith. The new shower, loo, laundry and washing up block is proving to be a very popular addition to the site - it keeps me busy topping up the complimentary shower gel, shampoo & conditioner! It will be lovely to host you again in the future. Paul

We really enjoyed our short break at Little acres. The location was great for us. It was just off the motorway in a quiet spot, walking distance to The Crooklands where we had a lovely meal and a convenient bus stop outside there to Kirkby Lonsdale which is one of our favourite places to visit and only 16 minutes away .
Site's response
Hi Brenda Thank you for staying with us (& bringing some lovely weatehr with you !). The bus top across the road is very handy, with people either going to KL (as you did) or going the other way to Kendal and the Lake District beyond. Paul

Though the site location will not be to everyones taste, it is a location that has surprises! This is a return visit for us but this time with a caravan not a tent. The facilities have been updated since our previous visit and more improvements (if that is the word) are due to start within a few days of our departure (12th May). Paul has worked wonders with the site and facilities, always clean, plenty of good advice and the willingness to help anyone that needs it. As said earlier, a return visit and hopefully more trips in the future. A one word summary is impossible but a fair starting point would be BRILLIANT.
Site's response
It's good to read that your stay with a caravan, rather than a tent worked out so well for you. Yes, the next phase of the improvements started today (13th May) and we have started the complete refurbishment and modernisation of our 2nd loo & shower block - we can't wait for its completion ! Locationwise, we are 2 mins from Junct 36 on the M6 and we're just 15 mins from the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales. Having a dog friendly pub that serves good food (& beer !) 200 yards away, bus stops to Kendal and Kirkby Lonsdale outside the pub, a 24 hour petrol staion with shop less than half a mile from us which can be reached on foot without walking aside the road and the Lancaster Canal towpath which is only 15ft from our entrance are just some of the things that people enjoy about our location. Hopefully you'll like our recently started and planned improvements for the future when you return. Paul

This campsite was a really lovely find, probably the best we've stayed at in the last two weeks (on the way back from the NC500). The showers/toilets here are totally awesome, modern, clean and spacious. Paul the site manager was so helpful and friendly, I can't recommend this site highly enough! The icing on the cake for this site is a smashing pub with great food just yards away.
Site's response
Thank you, Jacqui. I'm glad that your NC500 trip was a success and staying at Little Acre added to your big trip. Paul

We arrived later than we had hoped due to traffic and weather conditions. A quick phone call to Paul put us at ease and he was waiting for us on our arrival to show us our pitch and where all the facilities were. He was extremely friendly and helpful. We only stayed one night on our way from Worcestershire to Scotland, so didn't get chance for a good look around. The site is alongside a gorgeous canal, which was great for walking our dogs. The nearby pub looked inviting as well. The brand new toilet and shower block is unbelievable. It's better than many expensive hotels we've stayed in. Overall, we can't recommend this site highly enough. Spotlessly clean, friendly and helpful and a lovely quiet location.
