About the site

Situated in North Devon enjoying a picturesque setting on the outskirts of Exmoor, the site is a traditional Devon farmhouse within walking distance of an abundance of wildlife and open moorland. There are five luxury bell tents onsite. All have a king size bed and camping sofa, with bed, bedding and towels provided for two guests. You are welcome to bring two camp beds or blow up beds with camping mats and bedding, plus towels for two extra guests. Every tent includes private facilities with a shower, toilet, camping kitchen with gas hob and grill, camping fridge, cutlery, crockery, glasses, tea towel and bin. You'll also find a stove, rugs, floor cushions, tea, coffee and twinkling string lights supplied inside - perfect for a relaxed and magical atmosphere. It's so peaceful here, the only thing you'll hear are the birds singing, the occasional baaing of a sheep or mooing of Jersey cows. Groups are also welcome and can book all 5 bell tents, which can sleep a group of between 10 and 20 depending on the configuration you are looking for. From family holidays to friendly gatherings, or a couple's getaway, guests always comment they immediately feel relaxed and comfortable at the site. Dogs welcome too. Whatever the season, or reason for booking your holiday, no one ever wants to leave Deer's Leap. Guests here become friends, who return again and again to experience the love and warmth of this magical place.

BBQs are welcome, provided they are kept raised off the ground, and there is a separate fire pit area for campfires - open campfires are not permitted.

Things to do on site and in the South Molton area

Onsite there is plenty to do. There are always the chickens to feed, ponies to pat and Poppy the beagle to run about with. There is also a wonderful all-season tennis court, so bring a racket or toddler bike. Hours of fun can be had on its ever-green surface. A large games barn with pool, table tennis and darts is also available to guests.

The area also has an abundance of wild birds, pheasants, buzzards and the hedgerows are full of wildflowers and the local villages hold many chocolate box cottages. The site can recommend many walks straight from your tent, or a short 15 minute drive will allow you to access the best of Exmoor National Park.

If you fancy a day at the beach, you also have Instow a 50 minute drive away, great for dog walks and a swim in the sea.

For those who enjoy fishing, Oaktree Fishery (10 minutes) has three lakes packed with carp, roach, ghosties, wells catfish and more!

You'll also be within easy reach of many local attractions including The Ancient Causeway of Tarr Steps (25 minutes), Landacre Bridge (25 minutes) and Dunkery Beacon (40 minutes) to name a few.

There are also several charming villages nearby which are great for exploring, or for visiting cute cafes and shops. You can visit Dulverton (15 minutes), Winsford (25 minutes), Withypool (25 minutes) and Exford (30 minutes).
