One nighter Recommends site
Single Axle Caravan - Serviced Grass Pitches (Optional Electric) Apr 2026 We stayed for one evening as a first outing in our caravan.
The site is easily accessed via A14 / A12 through Melton, only downside was some road noise and a high pitch buzz coming from the facilities / neighbouring house.
We planned to walk down to the river, however the footpath was overgrown along a busy road so unfortunately we were restricted to the site, appreciate this is not within the owners control, but did limit what we could do on site.
Facilities were acceptable for a small site and had everything we needed and a small play area for the kids, added Wi-Fi which reached us was a bonus.
Communication from the site wasn't great as we didn't get allocated a pitch. Fortunately it wasn't busy and we only stayed for an evening, so pitched up in a plot with no trouble and left this morning.
Really great location Recommends site
Large Tent - Serviced Grass Pitches (Optional Electric) Apr 2026 Excellent campsite! The location was perfect, a 5-10 minute stroll to the Sutton Hoo National Trust site from the campsite. It's a short 4 min drive to Woodbridge that has some really lovely places to eat and to see the Saxon ship building workshop.
The campsite had approx 22 pitches with electric. Even though most of the pitches were booked, it still felt relatively private and it was safe for kids to play. In the centre of the area there is a climbing frame with swings for kids.
There are shower and toilet blocks and a washing up station. Also, there are recycling bins. You can hire fire pits but we brought our own. Helen was really helpful and her husband lent us a small axe to chop our large logs into kindling for our stove which helped us massively for the cooler evenings.
There was a bit of noise from the farm vehicles nearby and the road, so next time we come I will bring earplugs. I would definitely come back though!
Fantastic stay Recommends site
Medium Tent - Serviced Grass Pitches (Optional Electric) Apr 2026 Wonderful site with great clean facilities, large pitches, lovely play areas and run by wonderful people. Would recommend
A lovely little site Recommends site
VW-Type Campervan - Serviced Grass Pitches (Optional Electric) Apr 2026 We enjoyed staying at Sutton Hoo campsite. Small enough to be friendly, but with generous pitches. Can't think of anything we'd like to see changed, it was just the way we like to camp and will be returning at some point.
Great stay Recommends site
VW-Type Campervan - Serviced Grass Pitches (Optional Electric) Apr 2026 We had a great Easter stay at Sutton Hoo, it’s local to amenities abd attractions. The host was so lovely and will definitely go back.
Thankyou 🥰
A really nice site Recommends site
Single Axle Caravan - Serviced Grass Pitches (Optional Electric) Apr 2026 A very good location.
Had 2 slight problems - the main being the person next to my pitch decided to locate his caravan with the front end in forwards instead of reversing in that position. Was then only 2 feet from the side of my van. This could be quite dangerous if unfortunately there was a fire.
As I was leaving the next day, I decided not to get into any argument. Need someone to check onsite setups. The other problem was a large family in a tent using a fire pit that was almost like Guy Fawkes with all the smoke entering peoples caravans and tents. Nevertheless, we will definitely return again.
Small peaceful site Recommends site
VW-Type Campervan - Serviced Grass Pitches (Optional Electric) Oct 2025 Great little campsite, ideally positioned for visiting the Sutton Hoo site. It's exactly as described, with all essential facilities available and included in a very reasonable price.
I liked the thoughtful extras found in the shed such as communal fridges and freezers, local information, bus timetables etc. and a family bathroom. Easy walk into Woodbridge, along the river, and good bus service back.
Would definitely recommend, I'd like to return and explore the area further.
Welcoming, accommodating and accessible Recommends site
Sep 2025 Fantastic, accessible, dog and children friendly campsite with great service and warm friendly people.
On site facilities with fire pits and fire wood for the outdoor camper. Everything you need from a campsite, including thoughtful consideration of bus times and places of interest and local medical services if needed.
About 15 minutes walk from Sutton Hoo with the Burial Mounds, Viewing Tower, Cafe, Book Shop, Visitor Centre, Gift Shop, Guided Tour, Picnic area and walks.
Lovely village just a mile down the road with convenience stores, chip shop etc. and the local pub has fantastic food and great service.
Sutton Hoo Recommends site
Medium Tent - Serviced Grass Pitches (Optional Electric) Sep 2025 Very quiet site with lots to do around and about. Lovely river walk into Woodbridge.
Budget friendly but noisy Recommends site
Medium Tent - Serviced Grass Pitches (Optional Electric) Aug 2025 The site was small and very family friendly.
It was easy to get to from London and under a mile walk to the pub (if not down a slightly treacherous road for small kids).
The biggest downside was the road noise, and being under a flight path which was so unbelievably loud we all had very poor sleep. Despite being dog friendly, a nearby farmer kept letting off bangers for ravens which scared many of the dogs on site. No fault of the site owner, but still something to raise.
I would have loved the amenities to have been cleaner and a bit more modern, but for a cheap site it was fine. The biggest upside was there was lots of children under 10 and their families and the kids could play happily and safely.
Wonderful Recommends site
Motorhome - Serviced Grass Pitches (Optional Electric) Aug 2025 A fantastic base to visit Sutton Hoo as a disabled person.
Lovely and clean. A few noisy folk on site, but seemed to quieten down later on.
We shall visit again.
Excellent campsite Recommends site
VW-Type Campervan - Serviced Grass Pitches (Optional Electric) Aug 2025 Perfectly located, this small campsite is on the doorstep of so many wonderful Suffolk attractions: the charming town of Woodbridge, Snape, Orford, Rendlesham Forest, Framlingham and of course it is literally on the doorstep of Sutton Hoo (a 5 min walk down the lane from the campsite).
Generously sized pitches are divided by hedges. There's a small climbing frame and play area in the centre of the site for children; the toilet block and washing up area were kept clean and tidy and someone was instantly on hand to answer/resolve any problems. Altogether, a very quiet location despite a relatively busy road nearby.
There's no shop or café on site, but there's a good café at Sutton Hoo (National Trust) and Reuben's family run butchers/deli/bottle shop at Melton station (5 min drive down the road). Choice of good pubs in the area too. Will definitely go again.
Perfect location Recommends site
Motorhome - Serviced Grass Pitches (Optional Electric) Aug 2025 Great little site, right next to Sutton Hoo. Site has everything you need at reasonable cost.
Fire pits a nice added extra. Quiet enough overnight.
Wonderful week at this lovely little campsite Recommends site

Enjoyable 2 days Recommends site
Motorhome - Serviced Grass Pitches (Optional Electric) Jul 2025 Lovely campsite. Great for children.
Bit difficult to get into Woodbridge if you have a campervan. Hard to park. Used the bus but only 3 a day. Taxis are around though. Unruly Pig, great meal, and a pleasant 20 min walk across the golf course.
Lovely little site Recommends site
VW-Type Campervan - Serviced Grass Pitches (Optional Electric) Jul 2025 Our 2nd time here and will definitely be back again.
Perfect Recommends site
Large Tent - Serviced Grass Pitches (Optional Electric) Jul 2025 The site was perfect for my needs. Small, friendly, clean, well serviced and quiet. As a solo female camper it felt totally safe and comfortable.
The use of fridge freezers was an absolute bonus in the super hot weather. And there was a kettle and phone charging point for non electric users, a really well thought our site.
I absolutely recommend the site and will definitely be back.
Fantastic location Recommends site
Trailer Tent - Serviced Grass Pitches (Optional Electric) Jul 2025 This site is great for not only visiting Sutton Hoo - a brief stroll to the end of the road - but also for visiting other lovely parts of Suffolk- Aldeburg, Orford, Rendelsham Forest etc… oh and use of a fridge and hoover was very helpful.
Great site! Recommends site
Motorhome - Serviced Grass Pitches (Optional Electric) Jul 2025 We stayed one night in our motorhome specifically to go to Sutton Hoo. Having said that, it's ideally located as a base for Suffolk.
The site was clean and well kept - dog walking field was a welcome bonus. Love that the pitches have hedges to act as a privacy screen between units. The washing up area and toilets a clean and functional.
Great little gem of a site in a quiet spot.
Lovely place Recommends site
Motorhome - Serviced Grass Pitches (Optional Electric) Jul 2025 Lovely place, peace and quiet, a bit far from the city on foot.
Great little campsite Recommends site
Medium Tent - Serviced Grass Pitches (Optional Electric) Jul 2025 Great little campsite.
Quiet and clean, in a great location.
Brilliant find Recommends site
Large Tent - Serviced Grass Pitches (Optional Electric) Jul 2025 Perfect little campsite for those who like a small quiet site with no clubroom or shop.
The pitches were more than big enough for our large tent and car. The owners came and introduced themselves and made sure everything was to our liking. The facilities were always clean and never had to wait for a shower.
Walking distance to the NT Sutton Hoo site and also a nice little pub within walking distance. Would definitely book again if we came to this area of Suffolk.
Great location for Sutton Hoo and Woodbridge Recommends site
VW-Type Campervan - Serviced Grass Pitches (Optional Electric) Jun 2025 Good location for visiting the Sutton Hoo estate, nice walk to Woodbridge along the river, pubs nearby, and railway station at Melton for travel further afield.
Site was quiet and pleasant with basic toilets and showers. Would visit again.
Sutton Hoo, so good Recommends site
Sprinter-Type Campervan - Serviced Grass Pitches (Optional Electric) Jun 2025 Lovely layout of pitches which were a very good size toilets were clean, perhaps a two or more toilets and extra showers wouldn't go a miss.
Great dog walking field. Really enjoyed our stay.
