Holmescales is an almost wild campsite located at the gateway to the Lake District, giving you full access to all key areas. A back-to-basics base, it boasts the most stunning views of the Lakeland fells and a quiet and peaceful rural setting. This purpose built site offers pre-booked activities (from quad biking to archery) on site and easy access to the M6 for the Lakes and Dales.

This was a lovely location to camp in, we had beautiful view and the pitches were a good size. There were showers and toilets as well as somewhere to wash up dishes, which is all that was needed. We've not been camping before but found it a very pleasant experience. There are additional activities to book which looked like lots of fun, and would definitely want to give these a try if we go again.

Very interpersonal. Staff were very attentive, very accommodating and it showed in way we felt when we stayed. The other campers were very polite, chilled and welcoming too! It all adds to a great experience! The surroundings are awesome! Loads of little gems to unveil around the area!

A field with a small cabin containing facilities. Near to some pubs and Kendal. Sadly very windswept and open, but otherwise does the job!

Booking system was straight forward. You arrive, choose your pitch and text to tell them which pitch you have taken. There is parking next to a number of spaces which means there is no worries about getting stuck on a muddy field. Plenty of hot water for washing up and the toilet facilities were clean. Location is handy for Kendal and Southern lakes / Lancashire and the views are fabulous. No shops nearby so you do need to make sure you have taken provisions with you. A nice peaceful site I will visit again.

We chose this site primarily on cost and having toilets available. Really pleasantly surprised, such a fantastic site for the price. Clean toilets and showers available, good size plots with many having gravel drives for car, and the most beautiful views. Fantastic for sunset and sunrise especially. Communication from site staff was great, very quick to reply to messages.

We were the only guests at Holmescales Campsite so it was lovely and quiet with great views over the countryside. The shower, toilet, water and dishwashing facilities were all in good working order and clean. There was no electric hook-up, but we knew this before we booked so it wasn't an issue.

Quite basic, but covered all of our quite basic needs. Very thankful to the guys at the site for giving us a tow out of a very boggy pitch after very heavy rainfall.

Stayed for one night as we were passing through Kendal. We were one of two pitches so we had the place to ourselves. Beautiful location with a gorgeous view. Lights didn’t work in the toilets so take a torch. Shower water was lukewarm. But did the job.

Autumn stay for one night. Did what it said on the tin! Lovely views, plenty of room, hot water showers and washing up area. Toilets and sinks. Very clean. Plenty of bins for rubbish and taps for water. Had our two dogs with us who could run around because we were there on our own. Contacted owner via text, who replied shortly after. All in all, great stay. Will return in summer with other friends in campervans.

We loved the site! The surroundings were stunning. The toilets were always kept lovely and clean and perfect for basic camping. We didn't use the showers but looks great. Felt it was just a bit pricy at £25, as there's no electricity hook up. But a fab site.
