About the site

A pretty family-run campsite set amongst nature, the site is a lovely place to reconnect and have fun with loved ones. The site is just 25 minutes from the charming city of Chester, with many wonderful attractions within easy reach. For those wanting to unwind in style, the site offers five luxury Cedar Pods. Each of the pods sleeps up to four, equipped with a double bed (bedding is included), a bed settee, heating, an ensuite with toiletries and a clothes rail for storage. For chilling out, there is a seating area with a smart TV and WiFi. You will also have a kitchenette that comes equipped with a fridge, kettle, toaster, microwave combi oven, two-ring halogen hob and all the utensils, pots and pans you may require for cooking up a tasty meal. Outside of your pod, there will also be an outdoor seating area for al fresco dining, along with a Weber charcoal BBQ and your own private electric hot tub! The site offers both grass and hardstanding pitches, all with 16 amp electric hook up. Both tents and tourers are welcome. Please note that open fires and fire pits are prohibited. Dogs are allowed on the camping and touring pitches but are not permitted in the glamping pods.

All of the glamping pods have their own ensuite toilet and shower facilities, along with an electric hot tub. There is a launderette, a kids' playground, a ball game area, and a free onsite fishing pond stocked with carp, perch, and tench (please ensure you have a valid licence). WiFi is available in the pods, too.

The famous Hollies Farm Shop is within a 30 minute walk, or a two minute drive away, for artisan treats, onsite butchery and bakery, as well as a gift shop. The Shrewsbury Arms is also just a five minutes drive, or there is a shortcut through the site's fields.

I had the most wonderful birthday stay at Shay’s Farm and it truly exceeded my expectations. The farm is set in such a peaceful and beautiful location, making it the perfect place to relax and switch off from everyday life. The accommodation was spotlessly clean, cosy, and very comfortable, with thoughtful little touches that made it feel extra special for my birthday. Lisa was an amazing host from start to finish. She was so warm, welcoming, and attentive, made sure we had everything we needed. Her kindness and hospitality really stood out and made my birthday celebration even more memorable. You can tell she genuinely cares about her guests and wants them to have a lovely experience. Waking up to the fresh air and the calm surroundings was such a treat, and the whole stay felt like a proper escape. I couldn’t have chosen a better place to celebrate my birthday. Shay’s Farm is full of charm, comfort, and warmth, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing and special getaway. I can’t wait to visit again!

Stayed here for New Years, the pod was clean and was a home from home, it had everything you needed. The hot tub was all set and ready to go on arrival, bbq & coal provided which was a great addition. Very quiet & tranquil and just what you need for a quiet weekend away with friends and family Thank you for the great facilities, see you soon. The bedding and pillows are the best I've ever slept on, so I took a picture of the labels and will be ordering some for home!

I came across this little gem and couldn't have been happier 😊 The host was absolutely lovely and accommodating. This pod has everything you need and is in a beautiful location. We were in a pod facing the stream and the host decorated it for me on arrival with birthday banners which was a lovely surprise. The farm shop down the road is a must to visit. I would highly recommend shays farms and would stay here again.

Things to do on site and in the Tarporley area

The onsite fishing pond is great for licensed anglers of all abilities and is open from dawn until dusk. You can expect to find a variety of breeds of fish, including carp, perch and tench! There is also a public bridleway that runs straight through the campsite.

If you are looking for an adventure, a trip to Go Ape Delamere (10 minutes) is a must. The wonderful adventure centre is host to a whole array of different activities including a Treetop Challenge with tightropes and zipwires, along with a forest Segway tour.

For some family fun, The Ice Cream Farm is just 25 minutes away. Sample over 40 flavours of ice cream and let the kids run wild with mini cars, giant outdoor pillows, an adventure golf course and an indoor water and sand play area!
