Excellent little campsite Recommends site
Medium Tent - Electric Grass Tent Pitches Oct 2023 On the way back from a 3 night very rainy stay at Little Acre. It's a small family run site, the owner is really friendly and helpful. Facilities are amazing, I've been to quite a few sites and good facilities are a must for me but this is hotel standard!
Only one block was open while we were there as it was quiet, I believe the newest refurbished block. Toilets are their own 'room ' with toilet, sink and dryer, one being an accessible one. Showers again are their own wet room with waterfall shower, normal shower, sink, heated mirror and bench. Again one of the showers was accessible with a shower seat. They are huge, so clothes and towels stay dry. Shampoo, conditioner and shower gel included. Coin operated with 20p for 3 minutes. Turns out it takes a lot less time to shower than I thought, put too much time on!
Washing up station and laundry are again inside. Sinks have draining racks, bowls and washing up liquid. Washing machine and tumble dryer take 3x £1 coins each. All facilities are exceptionally clean and nice and warm.
It rained heavily for our entire stay, although the tent field got muddy and 'squelchy ' it wasn't waterlogged. Ground isn't too stoney either so normal tent pegs were fine. Pub across the road is beautiful, food was amazing and good portions so worth a walk over.
Location is good, easy to get to from the M6. It's not in the Lake District itself so a bit of a drive (1.5h to north peaks) but less than half an hour to Windermere. It is close to the roads but they're not busy and we still found it peaceful. It's not the prettiest area in comparison to further into the lakes but still has a countryside feel.
Free Wi-Fi was a bonus too! Full signal in the far corner of the field.
If I absolutely had to nit-pick, mirrors in the toilet cubicle above the sink would be useful. There's some by the other communal sinks where the hairdryer is though anyway. I guess it stops people hogging the toilet doing makeup in there.
We were really impressed and would 100% stay again.

Thank you for your lovely review of your stay with us, Jade - I'm glad that you liked the new shower, loo, laundry and washing up block. It has been open since mid Aug and is proving to be very popular!
Hopefully on your return trip, the weather will be kinder for you. Paul.
p.s. we didn't put mirrors into the toilet rooms for exactly the reason you said!
Excellent camping site Recommends site
Medium Tent - Electric Grass Tent Pitches Sep 2023 Toilets/shower facilities were fantastic. Very clean/modern. Huge shower rooms. Waterfall or pressure. Water can get super hot if required. 3 mins for 20p. Take a stack of 20s, ace! Grass pitching area is well maintained. Plenty of space. Nice site. Local pubs are crazy money for food!

Thank you for staying with us Dean and leaving a lovely review. I'm sorry that I never caught up with you to meet and greet you. When you were here, I was offsite and vice versa.
Hopefully I'll catch up with you next time. Paul.
Brilliant, small camping site Recommends site
Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent Pitches Sep 2023 This site is really nice. The camping field is not huge, but its a decent size. It is very close to the M6 and the A590, so very good connections to major roads and of course, the gateway to the Lake District.
Owner Paul was fantastic and very helpful. He also introduced us to himself and what facilities there were around the site. A new toilet, shower and laundry block has been built near the camping ground, where it has excellent and very clean facilities.
You are also within a few minutes walk away from the Crooklands pub and hotel, which we tried one evening, and had an excellent meal and local ales on offer.
Overall, we really enjoyed this place, its got very clean and well looked after grounds and facilities, very welcoming and good links by road to the motorway and roads into the Lake District, would definitely come again.

Thank you for staying with us and leaving such a lovely review, James. Even at the busiest times of the year, we don't "overfill" the tent field, as we always want people to have plenty of space and be comfortable.
Hopefully on your next visit, the weather will be kinder and less Cumbrian! Paul.
Beautiful site Recommends site
Large Tent - Electric Grass Tent Pitches Sep 2023 We had a lovely weekend at Little Acre, such a pleasant, clean site.

Little Acre is a little gem Recommends site
Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent Pitches Sep 2023 Amazing weekend away. Paul was awesome! Super clean and tidy site. Couldn't get in at Crooklands for food but we did go to The Plough which is about 2 miles away and that was perfect.
We'll be booking again soon!
Thank you 😊
Site's response
Fingers crossed that the weather stays kind and I can host you again this season, Gemma.

Great stay Recommends site
Medium Tent - Electric Grass Tent Pitches Sep 2023 Polite and friendly host. Excellent showers and toilets in the new block, very clean throughout and good toiletries supplied.
Great location for accessing South Western/Central Lake District or North/Eastern Yorkshire Dales.
Excellent pub over the road to top it off.

Thank you for staying with us and leaving a lovely review for others to see, Matthew. I knew that you were doing a lot whilst staying with us, but didn't realise that you were doing as much as that!

Beautiful campsite Recommends site
Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent Pitches Sep 2023 Me and my partner booked a stay here very last minute... the owner was very welcoming and explained where everything is on the site.
It was a very beautiful site from everything from the pitches to the location and facilities. Can tell the owner takes pride and care in making sure it's kept to a high standard. The value for money is amazing. Me and my partner were both amazed with the toilet and shower facilities, probably the best ones we have seen on a campsite.
We will definitely be coming back in the future.

Thank you for staying with us, Georgina. It would be lovely to host you again in the future.

Fantastic campsite! Recommends site
Large Tent - Electric Grass Tent Pitches Sep 2023 Absolutely amazing little campsite. It isn't overcrowded, the owner is absolutely delightful and texted me when he was out to make sure we got there at the right times etc.
The facilities are by far the best I've ever had at a campsite! They're even better than my gym ones! The pub is a stones throw away (bonus), and they serve fab drinks on an evening that don't cost an arm and leg.
Couldn't ask for more - we will be back!
Site's response
We're hugely fortunate at Little Acre to have so many returning customers and it would be lovely for you to become another one of them, Sarah. Paul.
Great place to stay Recommends site

Excellent site Recommends site
Medium Tent - Electric Grass Tent Pitches Sep 2023 Very nice site with excellent ambience, facilities, cleanliness, upkeep and all round appeal. Highly recommended.
Beautiful location. Adjacent to Lancaster Canal for walks and 3 minutes walk to an excellent pub. Easy access to M6 junction 36.
No issues at all, except the dark wooden beams placed along the edge of the grassed tent pitch area to deter turning motorhomes from encroaching onto the grass. These are invisible in the dark and pose a trip hazard for the unwary when visiting the toilet block.

Thank you for rating Little Acre as 5*'s and recommending us on Campsites.co.uk, David.

Little Acres, but big on service Recommends site
Medium Tent - Electric Grass Tent Pitches Sep 2023 First class service, friendly and attentive. Perfect cleanliness and well presented.
Only issue for us was traffic noise, which was a problem we hadn't thought about. Trying to get away from all that and ended up closer as we live away from any motorways!
Unfortunately, it was a perfect campsite but in a noisy area.
Site's response
I'm glad that your visit at Little Acre was a success, Dan. Your stay coincided with the build-up to the Westmorland County Show, which is located just a quarter of a mile from us and is one the most popular agricultural shows in the North West. Away from when the County Show is on, the site is a peaceful place to be! Paul.
Lovely, tidy, peaceful campground Recommends site
Medium Tent - Electric Grass Tent Pitches Sep 2023 Friendly staff, clean facilities, scenic canal walk across the road, and local pub. Great place to stay!
Site's response
Thank you for staying with us Bridget and leaving such a lovely review. I'm glad that things worked so well for you.

Two night stay Recommends site
Medium Tent - Electric Grass Tent Pitches Aug 2023 Simply cannot fault the campsite, the set up or the staff at all. If you asked me to say at least one negative comment then I'd decline.
The location is ideal, close to everything you need. The welcome was great, the facilities were superb and the new shower and laundry block would rival a 4-star hotel.
We will definitely stay again.
Site's response
Thank you for the lovely review of your stay at Little Acre, David. I hope that your future visit goes just as well. Paul.
Excellent campsite Recommends site
Large Tent - Electric Grass Tent Pitches Aug 2023 This was one of the nicest campsites we have been to. Paul was very attentive, funny, friendly and always very helpful. The location is central to the Lake and Peak District, so absolutely perfect.
The new toilet block was completed during our stay which was absolutely WELL above the standards I'd expect for a campsite. The older toilet block was functional, but a little dated, so would benefit from similar work. There was plenty of space and a whole host of types of groups from solo tenters to family campers to older couples in campervans.
There's a lovely river walk at the site entrance and a shop in the petrol station about a 10 minute walk along the river to the right. Met some lovely people and our kids had a fantastic time. I think my only real semi negative would be that the tent field is at an angle but there is nothing that can really be done about that.
Thanks you for such a great stay.
Site's response
Thank you for your visit Daniel and leaving such a lovely review.
Since your stay, the older "green block" toilet and shower unit has been taken out of use, as it wasn't viable to update, so now we have 2 larger toilet and shower blocks for people to use.
Paul
P.S. We're well located for the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales, both of which are 20 mins away. But less so for the Peak District, which is a couple of hours away.
Great stay Recommends site
Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent Pitches Jul 2023 Brilliant stay as always, gorgeous campsite in a beautiful setting. Owners are incredibly friendly, nothing is too much to ask. Toilets, showers and other facilities are outstanding, always immaculately clean and amazing value for money. Will be returning very soon!
Site's response
That is very kind of you, Christine. We keep trying to improve the site, but without spoiling it for the reasons that people keep coming back to us!
