Negative experience

My experience with this site was extremely unpleasant, despite my efforts to resolve issues with the site. I would neither go back, nor recommend this site to anyone.

As our email conversation with yourself, we make it routine to ask people to reduce the volume of their music, conversations, audiobooks, videos etc. This includes when inside a tent, motorhome or holiday home, as they are in no way sound proof. In addition to this explanation, you were given a full apology as you felt singled out and that the member of staff was accusatory in their tone. For your specific example, the audiobook being played was clearly audible several fields away, and the only reason that you were asked to reduce it's volume. We will continue to ask people to reduce their volume while on site, and have made sure that all staff are better trained in the way they approach this.

Brilliant site

Fantastic stay on site. Book-in process was smooth sailing. Camped with electric for 2 nights, with kids and a dog. Facilities are very clean and well maintained, the girls loved the play park. Also as a side note: book well in advance if looking to eat at the Strands Inn down the road as this venue books up very quickly. However there is a pizza van which parks onsite each evening. Serving very nice pizzas with a choice of topping.

Gorgeous location

Fantastic location near Wast Water and Scafell Pike! Shuttle bus service was great to avoid parking issues on busy days.

Weekend in the lakes

Excellent park with great facilities and an ideal spot for walking Scafell Pike. Would definitely come back again. I've stayed here a few times and can't fault it.

Me and my dog making memories

I would recommend for views, and staff were friendly and helpful, but don't advertise that you have Wi-Fi when you don't and only have it at the entrance. This was a bit of a nightmare. Also, as a single person with a dog, it would be great to have a separate toilet and shower room so you can take your dog with you as it was too hot to leave him in the car and too hot to leave him in the tent.

Thanks for the review and feedback, which we would like to respond to. We make it clear that Wi-Fi is only available at reception, and we are the only campsite locally that provides any kind of Wi-Fi for their guests. We do have an area for dogs to be left outside the shower block, so you don't have to leave them in a car or at the tent. They aren't allowed in any of the washing facilities as the chemicals used for cleaning are extremely harmful to animals, along with other H&S related issues.

Lovely site with fantastic views and good facilities. The café is great. Only add on to make it perfect would be grey water drain.

Excellent option for Scafell Pike and more

Tent based 2 night stay - really friendly and welcoming team, shower block was immaculate and well kitted out, great variety of options for staying (glamping, homes, variety of plots for camper vans, etc). Very quiet overnight and felt really safe. Chose it for access to Scafell Pike, which is great. Not one but two beautiful traditional pubs on your doorstep and a play area for younger ones on site. On site pizzas in the evening were delicious and I also recommend trying the homemade sausage rolls they sell in the shop. I will be back.

Great site

Lovely campsite. Mixed site with caravans, motorhomes and tents in lots of separate little areas that makes it feel cosy. Pick your own pitch and park your car next to the tent. Facilities pretty good. Pizza van on site (weekends I think), which was a nice bonus. Reception has Wi-Fi, which is good enough to keep in touch. Also had a tiny bit of intermittent 3G on the site, not to be relied on. Local pub was lovely with good selection of beers. Book ahead if you want food.

This was a lovely campsite with great facilities and beautiful surroundings.

Clean and tranquil

Lovely site, quite remote and surrounded by hills. Can only get Wi-Fi by the shop so if you have a mobile home with TV, then you won't have anything to watch once on your pitch. Road access - single lane with passing point - a challenge for larger vehicles.

Really great site. The shop is well stocked. They have a mobile pizza van open every night.

Very good campsite meets all needs

Great little camp site if visiting the lakes. About a 20 minute drive to Scafell pike. Welcome greeting from reception upon arrival. Shop and reception sells food drinks and other essential items for camping. Also has WiFi as signal is near enough non existent. Great pub 30 second walk from campsite which has a lovely village feel to it. You will have to pre-book your food though as it's very busy. We had the delight of the pizza van as well which did great pizzas so we didn't need to pre order food at the pub. Great little campsite toilet / shower blocks were great and plenty of lovely people around to meet!

Wonderful family holiday

Great facilities in a friendly welcoming site, stunning views and close to some lovely pubs. The kids enjoyed the playground so much!

Lovely but felt it could be better

Lovely place and nicely spaced plots. The only thing that would have made it perfect is a better stocked shop and maybe a small café serving food. Just because it is so remote, it would have been nice to have more food options. Pizzas were lovely (despite the guys being hilariously disorganised 🤣) Would stay again.

Thanks for the feedback reagrding the food van. The pizza van and reception satff have revisited and imporved the ordering system, so there is no confusion regarding what day orders are to be made. Glad you enjoyed your stay and we look forward to welcoming you on your next stay.

Neat campsite in prime walking location

This camp site is of good size and is part of a working farm. The site caters for static homes, caravans, campervans and tents all with or without power. The shower and washing block is good with laundry and washing up area on the back. The reception also has shop facilities and there is a pizza van that comes on site, a couple of nice pubs 200m down the road ads to the attraction. The site is about a mile from the Wast Water lake and circa 4 miles from Wasdale Head and the foot of Skafell Pike, many walking routes and hills can be started and finished here making it a great place to stay.

Good area and good Staff

Staff at reception/shop were really helpful and there was a good variety of gear reasonably priced in the shop. Good location for us as we were there to climb Scafell Pike. Showers were clean and warm. Nice cleaning area for pots and pans. And there is also a pub just over the road which also does loads of good food using local ingredients. There is no/ very limited signal, but there is free Wi-Fi at reception.

Great location, so peaceful and picturesque

The campsite is in a great location with amazing views. The toilets/showers were always clean, as was the Pod when we arrived. The heater in the pod was great and kept us warm all night. There is a nice pub just outside the camp entrance, which was ideal. The only downside was that the WiFi is only available at the reception/shop, but maybe not necessarily a bad thing! Would recommend.

Amazing site with beautiful views

From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel very welcome, they were very helpful with a hiccup we had with pitching our tent, so thankful for the help pitching up. The site is surrounded by beautiful views and walks, nice little play park for children. The shop was well stocked and all staff had good local knowledge. The facilities were very clean with lovely hot water. There's two village pubs which look lovely little 5 minutes walk, if that. I have had a great weekend and would recommend to anyone wanting camp at the Lake District.

Perfect for peace and quiet!

A lovely stay at Church Stile Campsite, the location is perfect for walks and it's only a short drive to a beach. Lots of pubs near the area, one that serves amazing food! The facilities were good, clean and tidy but the showers varied in temperature. The campsite is nice and quiet, with a good farm shop.
