Clear filters Great family campsite
VW-Type Campervan - Electric Grass Pitches (Main Field) Aug 2025 Great family campsite. Super clean facilities, always someone cleaning the toilets and showers.
Swimming pool very easy to book online. Food good price in the restaurant. Shop is well stocked and not over priced. Great location, 20 min walk through the golf course to West Bay or 10 mins in the other direction to get to 2 local pubs or a seafood restaurant.
Site feels safe for children to ride around and be free. Pitches are big and all in close proximity of a toilet block.
Fantastic family fun
Motorhome - Electric Grass Pitches (Top Field) Aug 2025 Fantastic site.
The pools were immense for our grandsons aged 7 and 5. They have had the best time ever. So much to do. Easy to book indoor swimming and managed to book each day for the time we wanted.
Everywhere was clean and well looked after. Our pitch was perfect - so much room and on the end of the row near the facilities. The kids entertainment was great, they loved meeting George the Dinosaur. Highlights were cycling down hills, the inflatable assault course in the pool, the indoor slide (we think the 5 year old went down over 100 times), the swallow nest with baby birds above the shower door and a fossil found in a stone on the wall! What more could two little boys want?
The shop was well stocked and reasonably priced, the pizza and cheesy chips lunch we had on the terrace in the sun was a good price, and the beer was good!
The best time away
Large Tent - Electric Grass Pitches (Main Field) Aug 2025 We've had a fantastic time this week at Freshwater Beach.
The site is so well organised and offers a huge range of activities. The swimming pools were a huge hit as was having the beach so close. The staff and security were great and everything was kept clean.
My only feedback would be the toilet / shower block although clean was a little dated, compared to some other sites we have stayed at they could do with an upgrade, but still perfectly functional. We most definitely will be back.
Campsite
Medium Tent - Electric Grass Pitches (Main Field) Aug 2025 We had wonderful holiday and staff were quite friendly, you don't have to wait in queue for anything. Layout was great and can't fault the cleanliness.
Food are fab and reasonable prices.
Only downfall we had was the guy came to cut the grass he didn't consider the campers what they were doing at the time, as we were having our meals, grass bits /were flew all over. This happened twice while we were there. Other than that i would highly recommend.

The kids loved all the activities, and both the indoor and outdoor pools were fantastic. The sea was beautiful, and we'll definitely be coming back again.

VW-Type Campervan - Electric Grass Pitches (Main Field) Aug 2025 On arrival, we were a bit daunted by the number of tents etc which seemed very close together, but after setting up, it didn't feel too bad.
Facilities were clean and we had no issues with queues. Staff were all helpful and friendly. My granddaughters loved the outside pool, so I spent 3 days very wet! There was a large group camping close to us who were very loud, and when they left there was a sofa and other rubbish left behind!
This was cleared by staff quickly as the pitches were filled within a couple of hours.

Medium Tent - Electric Grass Pitches (Main Field) Aug 2025 We aren't regular campers so had a medium/small tent and minimal equipment!
We were greeted quickly and reassured that finding our pitch wasn't as tricky as map seemed. We were pleasantly surprised how big the pitches were and set up quickly and no hassle. The facilities were excellent! We especially loved being near to the beach, open fields, cliffs and despite being fully booked, it still seemed like there was lots of open space too.
We especially thought the toilet block was brilliant, with shower, sink, toilet and changing area all in one cubicle. Didn't have to queue more than 5 minutes for a cubicle/shower. Always clean. Not sure how I felt about male cleaners coming into female changing areas quite regularly, but there were lots of signs to say this would happen. The 3 pools were amazing, especially the outdoors ones, so warm! We loved the different food options, and food trucks were great and takeaway option was always fast. The Spar shop was so well stocked, with absolutely everything we could need, even though we had some a Tesco click and collect at Dorchester.
Lots of space for kids to play games and loved the inflatables.

Large Tent - Electric Grass Pitches (Main Field) Jul 2025 A lovely site with lots of families and loads to do!
A super base for exploring Dorset but also lots to do onsite - so much that we didn't get to do everything in a week! All areas were kept tidy, clean and neat and the site staff were superb; there were always people around making any necessary repairs, cleaning and keeping the site to a high standard.
We especially appreciated the security staff who kept the site calm and quiet after 10pm and made regular patrols. We will definitely go back.

Staff really friendly and helped us out as we broke down outside the entrance 😩 and towed us to our pitch in the telehandler. Will definitely be back.
Nice site
VW-Type Campervan - Electric Grass Pitches (Main Field) Jul 2025 Nice site. Well maintained, shop was well stocked and staff were pleasant. Indoor pool is nice but frustrating that pool slides and water play feature don't operate simultaneously.
Shower areas although cleaned well needed cleaning more often to avoid dirt and grass build up but not terrible. Shingle beach was the only slightly disappointing factor but not terrible, hillside walks are very popular but annoying as lead to dead ends at times.

Very pleased with our stay, children enjoyed the pools. Perfect location by the sea. The beach is very rocky it has its charm but you need shoes. The shop is very well stocked, fresh baguettes every morning.

A lovely family site but difficult access to the beach Trailer Tent - Electric Grass Pitches (Top Field) Jul 2025 We are a family of 5, 2 adults and 3 children 9-16yrs old with 2 dogs.
This was our first time staying at this site and many areas were excellent but equally, 3 areas for us were disappointing.
We thought this price was a bit above average but when you factor in the beachside location and 3 pools, we deemed it fair. Unfortunately for us, we found the beach inaccessible purely because it was a very rocky beach, so super painful on your feet. We could bare with it but as you had to climb down a super steep rocky hill to access it and then climb back up after it was too much for the children to manage and the dogs found it tricky too. We went to the beach once for our 8 day stay. Instead, we drove to other beaches in the area. Not a massive deal but if you are wanting only to stay on site then you would need to toughen up the bottoms of your feet!
The pools were lovely and clean but again, one downside to them is the booking system. You have to book 24 hours in advance to use the indoor pool which also includes the sauna, hot tub and jaccuzi. My children usually stay in the pool for over an hour so I booked 2 sessions back to back. Didn't see an issue as I was able to do so on the website, however, the receptionist on duty was not happy about it. She allowed us to keep the slot but made it clear we shouldn't have done it. This did annoy us a fair bit as 1 hour is not enough for us on holiday. The outside pool you don't have to book but obviously its weather dependent.
The other issue was a big deal and ruined the holiday for our family. We love a camp fire on the evening, we are not usually bothered by the entertainment on site, we just like to sit around the fire chatting and having smores as a family. 2 security guards came to our pitch and told us this was not allowed and had to immediately put it out. No reason given but did inform us we could have a coal fire, not that you can actually have a real fire with coal so we packed it all away. My 9yr old son was devastated. This may have been our error as it may have said on the website but that I'm not sure as I haven't looked, I've just never stayed anywhere before that hasn't allowed a fire so I never checked. If I had realised then we would have booked elsewhere, especially with the limited beach access.
The pitch size was generous provided the people next to you don't pull their guy ropes on to your pitch. I could have asked them to move them as there's a clear line separating all pitches or I could have asked security to have a word as clearly they are not shy of stepping in but I didn't fancy anymore aggro so we left it.
Quick weekend away

The location and views are fantastic and the outdoor swimming pool is great when the sun is out! We enjoyed the visiting pizza and curry vans and these were delicious. Showers were hot and spacious although could do with a spruce up, and bear in mind the site is large so not for everyone.
We did a coastal path walk to West Bay which we would highly recommend. The outdoor terrace bar is a great addition and the shop is well stocked. Will be booking again, hopefully for longer this time.
Great family holiday site
Large Tent - Electric Grass Pitches (Top Field) Jul 2025 We really enjoyed our stay here. It's a busy place but the pools etc never felt cramped or too busy, and it was lovely and clean.
The food was tasty but we didn't eat out much to save money and cooked on our pitch. The pitches are a good size, but fairly close together so if you're looking for personal space this might not suit you.
Kids absolutely loved the pools!
Summer holiday
Large Tent - Electric Grass Pitches (Main Field) Jul 2025 Had a lovely stay at Freshwater.
Three minor things happened. One side of our tent, someone took our tent pegs. Hammer and mallet taken, plus our Grandson's footballs taken. I know this minor, you don't want to have anything major to be taken.
Entertainment was good. Excellent swimming pools. Food was good. Last night we waited over an hour for our meal. Enjoyed our stay.
Our stay Single Axle Caravan - Electric Grass Pitches (Top Field) Jul 2025 We had never been to the park before, but mostly stayed the other side of Dorset.
The entrance approach could do with some advance signage as the coastal road is both busy for motorists and the motorbike fraternity who use it for spectacular coastal views. Many use it as a playground for testing their machines and subsequently without prior signage, can be right on top of you very quickly despite the turn.
Be careful, especially when pulling out as motorists do go right up to the limit on that road, so advance signage both ways and 'caution, site entrance' would be great.
As the site is really popular, security should really be 24 hours so that it can monitor activity of campers on the site so that everyone can enjoy their experience. Often rules are flouted blatantly. Security is on it, but they should make no apology for upholding the rules as we witnessed but tell people more firmly to behave; open fires were witnessed and fines placed on vans or tents disobeying the rules, it is after all a privately owned site. Also times, both children and adults are allowed to be noisy should be pinned more. Didn't get a lie in in two weeks! We're on holiday for goodness sake to relax. It was like getting up for work every morning.
Whilst we appreciate that the site cannot control who visits, there were some quite unsavoury characters there and females may sometimes feel apprehensive walking alone. More security patrols around the toilet blocks would have been appreciated or a presence felt there, especially at night. Better scheduling of van intakes to allow for less use of side intake road.
Disabled people, like one of our family members, didn't feel recognised and offered the locked disabled toilets. Receptionist customer service and security are very pleasant and amenable, top marks for this.
Better recognition of cleaning staff who are terrific and do a very challenging job indeed. Some of the toilets were in a terrible state and cleaned impeccably and promptly. Top marks here for the good work and excellent disposition they have to have on occasion with filthy campers and excrement.
Clearer signage at Elsan disposal points as one on top field regularly blocked with baby wipes. No female sanitary bins in toilet cubicles. Good pitch sizes, although some campers are cheeky with expanding over paid for areas with car parking.
Great site and location
Single Axle Caravan - Fully Serviced Hardstanding Pitches Jul 2025 Fully serviced pitches are small and close together with very little room to manoeuvre. Our shower/toilet block was tired and in need of refurbishment. Adjacent shower cubicle water flows into yours over the floor, so not very hygienic.

Large Tent - Electric Grass Pitches (Top Field) Jul 2025 The staff in particular are worth a mention, so I'll start there: they are without exception, a credit to the park, from universal 'good morning' to cleanliness to helpfulness, 6 out of 5 all the way! In particular, I would mention the fabulous, personable and helpful ladies on the desk for the pool/gym area - absolute joy to speak to, brilliant!
Everything was made as easy as possible, highly recommend for this reason alone. Add in the lovely private beach, gorgeous rural setting, indoor and outdoor pools, hot tub, sauna, steam room, gym, bowling alley (!), clean washing/laundry/washing up facilities, nice fellow guests, tidy pitches and recreational areas, and you are on to a winner. It's not one of those absolutely huge places, but it's big enough to have everything you might need to keep you occupied for a few days.
Take a walk along the beach at low tide all the way to West Bay, or up on the cliff walk to see the amazing sunset over the coast, loll about in the sea, play some football - it's all good stuff, plenty of fresh air! Low light pollution at night demands that you step out of the tent or caravan and gaze at the stars - incredible, especially if you live in a town or city.
One small negative - if you are in the top field, at the very top as we were, groan, it's a bit of a traipse up and downhill for the toilets, for a shower, or to wash some dishes. Every day is 'leg day', good exercise, so unless you have the calves of a Tour de France competitor (I made good progress while we were there) try and get a plot/pitch lower down if you can.
Will we go back again - yes please, would love to! Thank you to everyone at Freshwater Beach for a refreshing time, full to the brim with stuff to do and at exactly the pace we wanted. Amazing.

Large Tent - Electric Grass Pitches (Top Field) Jul 2025 Our stay at Freshwater was the first time and also the first time camping in England.
It fit our needs perfectly and the price and quality combination is very good in comparison to many European countries. We loved having the direct connection to the beach and the sea and the outside and inside swimming pool. The upper field was a perfect spot for our tent and the lot was very spacious. The tent for 6 persons and the car on the lot still left enough space for eating outside or chilling in the evenings.
We would definitely recommend the holiday park to friends and family.
