Spend the day fishing, walking or watching farm life, then stargaze after dark

About the site

Shepherd's Loft offers eight spacious hardstanding pitches on our working family farm in rural Shropshire. The farm has been worked by the same family in Frodesley for more than 120 years and remains a traditional mixed farm today. Each pitch measures approximately 7m x 5m and has a 16-amp electric hookup and its own water supply, with plenty of space to relax and enjoy the surrounding countryside. Guests can experience a little of everyday farm life during their stay, with goats, sheep, cattle, donkeys, chickens and ducks around the farm. On clear evenings, the rural location also makes a lovely spot for enjoying Shropshire's dark skies. Facilities include a heated shower room with toilet, an additional separate toilet, chemical disposal and an outdoor washing-up area. Carp fishing is available on our half-acre pool for staying guests, with numbers limited to keep the experience peaceful. Booking is essential. There are walks from the site, while Church Stretton, the Shropshire Hills, Shrewsbury, Ironbridge, Ludlow and The Wrekin are all within easy reach. One well-behaved dog is welcome per pitch, subject to a small charge, and must be kept on a lead because this is a working livestock farm. BBQs are permitted when conditions allow, provided they are raised off the ground and attended at all times. Fire pits and campfires are not permitted.

The Shepherd's Loft is open from 13/02 to 02/11. Pitches from £25/night for 2 people.

Motorhome - Electric Hardstanding Touring PitchesAug 2026

Small quiet site with lovely views of the surrounding countryside. Had a little hitchhiker who came to visit ….no eggs though 🤣

Site's response

Thank you for your lovely review! We’re so pleased you enjoyed the peace and quiet and the views across the surrounding Shropshire countryside. We did have a little chuckle at your unexpected hitchhiker! 🤣 It sounds as though one of our chickens decided to come and investigate – although clearly she wasn’t prepared to contribute any eggs towards her stay! They do have rather a lot of personality and seem to think the campsite belongs to them just as much as it does us. Thank you again for staying with us. We hope you enjoyed your little countryside escape and would love to welcome you back – hopefully with fresh eggs available next time, rather than just the chicken!

Lovely peaceful site

A note from the site themselves...

Our farm has been in the family for more than 120 years, so The Shepherd's Loft is very much part of our everyday life rather than a separate holiday business. We wanted to create somewhere small and peaceful where guests can enjoy the countryside as it really is — animals, muddy boots, changing weather, wildlife and all. We love being able to share a little of farm life with people, and we're proud that the site still feels relaxed, personal and very much part of home.
