Large Tent - Electric Grass Pitches (Area A)May 2025

The location of this site is beautiful. The views are absolutely incredible. We came as a family of 2 adults and 3 children. My main reason for picking this place was for the outdoor pool but on arrival, we were told the pool is not heated and is therefore, absolutely freezing. There was also no cover over the outdoor pool so I dread to think what's lurking in there as I never saw anyone doing any maintenance on it. Although we booked and used the indoor pool, it was very small and not really enjoyable for my eldest 2 kids (10 and 13). The overall site could do with being updated as the décor is very old fashioned. The arcade room was great, however, some machines were not working. We ate in the café one night and the food was lovely, along with the service. However, again, décor very dated and it could of done with having a little background music on as we were very conscious of being too loud as it was very quiet. The closest supermarket is it Newton Stewart around 40 mins away. Not much for the kids to do locally unless you drive a good couple of hours away. The shower facilities were nice and clean but the water was absolutely boiling and my kids couldn't shower properly because of this. Overall, a good holiday, just needs a lot of updating.

Site's response

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us. We are pleased to hear that you found our location and views amazing. The outdoor pool & indoor spa area is routinely maintained and monitored by our maintenance team throughout the day to ensure it is clean and free from debris. We are hoping to heat it in the future. We have taken on board your comments about improvements & upgrades. We are undertaking a wide range of upgrades across the park and have already invested over £1 million. The renovations are part of an ongoing programme of works and will continue to improve the facilities further. We do hope that you will visit us again in the future and see our progress.

VW-Type Campervan - Non Electric Grass PitchesMay 2025

Staff, both on reception and around the site couldn't be more helpful. The site itself is spotless, no rubbish, all grass kept mown short and on the whole, pretty flat. A mixture of static caravans, tourers, tents and campervans. A few small signs would be handy to confirm designated non electric pitch areas - even though pointed out in reception and on the given map. Although we didn't use the pool, it looks fantastic! For the younger children, there is a park to keep them occupied. A small games room with pool and air hockey, and numerous arcade machines. There is a shop and café, plus a bar, although we didn't use any of these as closed when looking around the facilities. Now for the 4 star review, the camping toilet and shower block could do with an upgrade - not that they were bad, just dated. As with any campsite toilets, there will always be the campers that are not toilet trained or able to put toilet paper down the loo! Absolute shame. Showers were hot, need to press the button about 10 times for the hot water to come through, but after that, it's great. Some floor tiles were loose, again, that's where an update would be beneficial. Will we go back? Yes, yes, yes. Thank you, we will return.

Things to do on site and in the Newton Stewart area

For those wanting to completely unwind, there is a sauna room and heated jacuzzi. The local beaches and the rocks at Burrowhead allow sea fishing, so bring your rod!
