In the Cairngorms National Park, Braemar Caravan Park is an ideal location for walkers, climbers, mountain bikers, and snow sports enthusiasts, being 15 minutes to Glenshee Ski Centre. Home to camping pitches and a selection of hardstandings, some small and some super-sized, as well as dog friendly pods with bunk beds. Teeming with wildlife and with ski lockers and an onsite shop, you can also reach Braemar in ten minutes for pubs and cafes.

About the site


A scenic park in Royal Deeside, in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park, ideal for walkers, mountain bikers, visiting castles and distilleries and much more. Just a ten minute stroll from Braemar with several charming pubs, cafes, and the historic castle. Surrounded by mountains, moorland, forests, rivers and trails, it's an ideal place to reconnect with nature. Herds of red deer roam freely around the area, and you may also glimpse red squirrels, golden eagles and mountain hares, to name but a few. There are pitches for caravans, motorhomes, campervans, trailer tents and tents. The grass tent pitches are based on two well-maintained greens and offer non electric and electric options. The hardstanding pitches all have an electric hook up, and you can choose from a small, standard or super hardstanding pitch, with an added fresh water tap and grey waste water drain. For those wanting a little more luxury, there are also six camping 'Fog' pods, cosy and comfortable, each sleeping four people and equipped with single bunk beds, a kettle, microwave and mini fridge/freezer. For larger groups, one of the pods contains a drop down sofa, allowing up to six people to relax in comfort, while one of the pods is designed for easy access, with an emergency pull cord and ramp provided. Kids can enjoy the outdoor play area, plus there's a handy shop onsite for all those camping necessities, and ski lockers for all your outdoor gear. Dogs are welcome, with a designated dog walk area onsite to stretch their legs.

The site is open for 11 months a year. It is closed for the full month of November.

Site facilities include two heated toilet and shower blocks, a launderette, a boot cleaning sink, a communal information room with a sofa and book swap, and a drying room. An onsite shop sells basics like butter, UHT milk, along with camping equipment and calor gas. Ski lockers can be hired as well!

There are fresh water points and waste water disposal points, as well as a woodland dog walk for your four legged friends and a play area for the children. Chargeable WiFi is available, and guests are permitted to use the electric hook up to charge their vehicles.

There is a local convenience store in Braemer, a ten minute walk away. You'll also find cafes, restaurants, pubs and shops in Braemer too.

Grass tent pitches, some with electric hook up, based on two well maintained greens and close to the facilities on the south side of the site. Tents must be 4m x 4m or less. Large family tents can not be accommodated.

*For camping and touring, arrival time is from 1pm-8pm. For pods, check-in is from 3pm-8pm and check out is at 10am.

*Electricity is not included in the pitch price but available to purchase by prepayment card from reception on arrival. Any remaining credit will be reimbursed when you return your card on departure.

*Prices are based on two-person occupancy. Single-person occupancy discount is available. Additional people are charged per person.

*Please note that the small pitches are not suitable for caravans.


Things to do on site and in the Ballater area

Braemar, the highest village in the UK, has plenty of charming local pubs, cafes, and special treat shops. The most well-known event here is the Braemar Gathering, taking place on the first Saturday of September every year, but there are also plenty of scenic walks to explore. Don't miss a visit to the historic Bramer castle, too!

Braemar Highland Games centre offers fascinating exhibitions, while the Braemar Mountain Festival in March allows you to learn some new winter skills and experience the magic of winter in Braemar.

Being situated in the Cairngorms National Park, it makes a perfect spot for walking. Whether you want a lower level walk with fantastic views or a more challenging mountain hike, there are many walks to choose from, popular ones include Braemar Pond (5 minutes), Morrone (10 minutes), and Devil's Elbow Viewpoint (20 minutes).

Invercauld Estate is a ten minute drive with eleven Munros and seven Corbetts, plus access to many other surrounding estates.

The Linn of Dee is 15 minutes away, offering famous walks, including Lairig Ghru, and from the Linn of Dee, you can access Ben Macdui, Braeriach and Cairn Toul, three of the largest mountains in Britain. There are also endless opportunities for cycling, fishing, golfing, kayaking, and exploring distilleries like Royal Lochnagar (20 minutes).

Historical days can be spent visiting Balmoral Castle, a short 15 minutes away from the site, which is a summer home to the royal family with a ballroom and art collection.
