Clear filters Nice stay VW-Type Campervan - Non Electric Grass Pitches Jul 2025 Nice simple stay, pretty basic but is does what it says on the tin.
Lovely campsite Recommends site
Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Jul 2025 Beautiful place. Amazing if you get good weather. Lovely calm water for kayaking, swimming or paddle boarding.
Nice short walks and you're welcome to have a pit fire, which are on site. Composite loos, if you're not too fussed. Regularly tended too but still unpleasant as ours were right next to washing facilities. 7
Personally, I think they should upgrade the facilities and charge more. Paid £15 per night. Well worth it. Would highly recommend for couples, families and groups.
Lovely place Recommends site
Jul 2025 Lovely place we had a great time.
Steve the owner will do anything to make your stay better than it already would be, we stayed in the tent site for 3 nights and absolutely loved it.
We will be returning in a few weeks.
Overnight stay Recommends site
VW-Type Campervan - Non Electric Grass Pitches May 2025 Lovely quiet site beside the river.
There are compost toilets and one gas powered shower so quite basic but adequate facilities. Lots of birds to watch and a pub a five minute drive away.
Our stay Recommends site
VW-Type Campervan - Non Electric Grass Pitches May 2025 This was our first ever site booked with our newly converted campervan and for ourselves as a couple. Both camped extensively in the past over 20 years ago!
Wow, couldn't have booked a more welcoming, ideal, picturesque site. Very quiet next to river (few mozzies, to be expected). Dog friendly - we've got 2 Jack Russells. Own firepit if needed. Composted toilets, shower & washing up area nearby.
Very peaceful, geese flying over frequently, ducks & other birdsong to be heard. We did arrive a bit late, 7pm, check-in closes. No problem, emailed to let them know. Prompt response with site manager's mobile number for when we arrived.
Easy to find, pitched up & enjoyed our evening. Glorious weather topped it off for us.
Lovely location! Recommends site
Small Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches May 2025 Area was very secluded and beautiful, next to the river and beautiful scenery.
Toilet and shower were very basic, not luxury but all we needed for a 1 night stay!
Owner was very kind and helpful and brought us fire wood.
Site had a fire pit which was useful to keep our fire contained and was good to put our small BBQ in.
Nearby shops are around 15-20 drive.
Fantastic weekend, will definitely return! Recommends site
Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Apr 2025 I really enjoyed spending the Easter weekend at Drybeck farm.
They have clean facilities, really nice pitches close to the river for your tent and each pitch had a raised fire bed. I had minimal interaction with staff as it's all very straight forward but when I did need assistance, they were swift to help. This is ideal if you're looking for a nice weekend in the countryside, there's a walk along the river bank very close by which is a really enjoyable walk.
The only downside, if you can even call, it that would be that the local shop shuts at 6pm and feels like a bit of walk away. There's only one shop in the local village, which again is a little inconvenient, but Carlisle is only a 25 minute drive away so it really isn't that big of an issue.
All in all, I'd highly recommend Drybeck Farm to anyone looking for a relaxing break. I look forward to visiting again in the future.
Weekend in The Wigloo Recommends site
Glamping Cabin - Wooden Cabins (Dog Friendly) Mar 2025 We stayed in The Wigloo for a weekend in spring. It was warm and cosy with the fire going and the facilities were gorgeous, and really allowed for full appreciation of nature while still providing modern day comfort.
However, do be warned that the outdoor shower was quite cold, even with the boiler on, though this is to be expected. The host provided the cutest, fully functional kitchen right in the heart of the farm and more than enough heat logs for the whole weekend. There was a handy information booklet too, detailing best walks and useful information, which we really made use of.
The private hot tub was the star of the trip, made even more atmospheric by the sweet fairy lights trimming the fencing. It was a completely hidden and private area which was perfect, though bear in mind that it takes a very long time to warm up, so start heating it early!
Overall, we had a beautiful stay and would absolutely recommend to friends and hope to be back soon!
Great stay Recommends site
Yurt - Croglin Yurt (Dog Friendly) Feb 2025 Had a great stay, amazing location and really good value for money.
Great spot Recommends site
Shepherd's Hut - The Herdwick Shepherd's Wagon (Dog Friendly) Oct 2024 Second time visiting and it was just as good as the time before, I will hopefully be visiting again next year.
Nice peaceful site Recommends site
VW-Type Campervan - Non Electric Grass Pitches Sep 2024 Nice, flat pitch for van and plenty of space for our awning.
Lots of hot water to wash up with and a shower (which we didn't use but looked clean enough). Fire pit supplied and you could buy wood from an onsite shop. Lovely to hear the owls at night and there were nice walks along the River Eden.
Marked review down because of compost toilets -really not very nice. Plenty of wood shavings (no scoop) and loads of loo paper, but it was just a really unpleasant experience.
Would recommend site apart from the loos, £25 a bit pricey
Beautiful site, poor facilities Recommends site
Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Aug 2024 Beautiful setting, river lovely but no easy access.
Compost toilet was awful, but I suppose all are. Didn't try the shower as looked as if it would leave me dirtier rather than cleaner.
Lovely camp field, especially as we had it for ourselves! Dogs loved it
Great stay Recommends site
Small Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Aug 2024 Absolutely beautiful place, with easy access to walks and a lovely host who greeted us.
Good stop off Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Jul 2024 Good stop off, only stayed one night, only concern was the toilets could do with a dust/tidy up.
Dog friendly site Recommends site
Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Jul 2024 I stayed 1 night as a stop over on the way home, with my two dogs.
A staff member met me at the gate, she was very friendly and encouraged me to contact her should I have any issues during my stay. The grass pitch was a good size and on level ground for my tent and had a fire pit. The compost toilet was ok and didn't smell too bad. The walk along the riverside was lovely.
Peace and quiet Recommends site
VW-Type Campervan - Non Electric Grass Pitches Jul 2024 Lovely little site off the beaten track. Basic facilities, next to the river Eden. I had a field all to myself!
Great if you want a tranquil setting away from everything.
Remote eco campsite Small Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Jun 2024 We stayed on the campsite for one night in our tent. We arrived on a Sunday evening and there was no one there to check us in. The site had eco-facilities with compost toilets and a shed with a shower.
Whilst the campsite is out in the sticks, there is the local village Armathwaite only a few minutes' drive away with a lovely pub.
What a gem! Recommends site
Shepherd's Hut - The Swaledale Shepherd's Wagon (Dog Friendly) Jun 2024 What a fabulous find.
Drybeck Farm is in a wonderful spot by the edge of a river, which you are able to use for kayaking, swimming, paddle boarding etc.
The accommodation was clean and functional with the added bonus of beautiful cutlery and crockery (and of course the hot tub!). Communication with Steve was exceptional and he went out of his way to help with whatever he could.
Our stay Recommends site
Small Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Jun 2024 It was only a one night stopover, but was a beautiful riverside site full of birdsong. Basic but perfectly adequate facilities.
Lovely Recommends site
Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Jun 2024 Nice walks surrounding the area, nice and secluded and lovely owners. Will definitely return :)
Perfect Recommends site
Small Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Jun 2024 Outstanding site, peaceful and beautiful, at a great location run by wonderful people. Each plot has a fire pit. Traditional and simple.
Peaceful and back to basics Recommends site
Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Jun 2024 Pleasant experience, off the beaten track.
The site is back to basics. Advice I'd give would be to take food with you as there's no facilities to purchase anything locally.
Great place Recommends site
Large Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Jun 2024 Had a great time. Lovely place to go, lovely views. People nice and friendly, thumbs up from me.
Weekend stay Recommends site
VW-Type Campervan - Non Electric Grass Pitches May 2024 Lovely little stay. Nice spacious camping area with option for a safe, small fire, within walking distance to the village, and some lovely on-site quirky accommodation.
Beautiful location. Recommends site
Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches May 2024 Beautiful location, camped for 2 nights over a weekend.
Took a paddle board and managed to use it on the water.
Close to Penrith if looking to go out and about.
Would definitely book again.
