Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent PitchesMay 2026

A lovely family run site. The location is 15 mins from Keswick and nicely isolated. It has nice views all round. It has some really quirky signs and features which make it feel really nice. A little area for kids to play football and ping pong. Some geese and chickens to entertain young ones. All round a very nice stay.

Fantastic camping

Camping Pod - Wainwrights Den Landpod (Dog Friendly)May 2026

This is an excellent site. The vibe was really nice, the staff friendly and helpful. It was very quiet and peaceful and the curfew was kept but without the officious enforcement you get at some quiet sites. The honesty shop was really useful and had everything you might forget as well as fresh milk, bacon etc. Keeping the cars off the camp area made a huge difference to both the aesthetic as well as the atmosphere. The Landpod glamping cell worked well. there was not much room in there for people to all move around, we went with two teenage daughters, but it was workable as we based ourselves outside. The camp kitchen was really good, the stove excellent and the accessories covered everything you would need. Toilets and showers were really nice and surprisingly I never had to queue even on a bank holiday weekend. Would highly recommend.

Excellent site great facilities and excellent location

Lovely stay, the hosts were always friendly and there to help if it was needed. Facilities were well looked after and toilets/shower facilities were spotless. The honesty shop was so handy for essentials. Great location and has some very scenic/enjoyable walks close by. 20 minute walk into Bassenthwaite that has a lovely pub β€œSun Inn”. Would stay again.

Lovely gem of a site near Keswick

Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent PitchesMay 2026

I'd stayed at the Fieldhead site (Edale) a few years ago and loved how charming it was, so I was keen to try this site as my friend and I regularly visit the Lakes. Kestrel Lodge campsite didn't disappoint us. I enjoy the simpler camping style, a little off track, and not commercial, so it might not appeal to younger children. But for us, the peaceful surroundings were a welcome respite from a busy life. The site has a small utility area and toilet block but it is very clean and the showers aren't those push button showers (which was nice to have a full shower without having to keep pushing a button every ten seconds!). There is also a honesty shop with a great selection of items that you might need / just fancy a bit of chocolate after your walk, and a couple of chairs you can rent out for your stay which is so thoughtful - especially if you're backpacking or doing the Cumbria Way and can't pack a lot of gear. The pitches are just standard (no electric) but each have their own fire pit for chillier nights.. we will definitely be using these when we visit again! Wood is also provided on site. The site does also have 3 pods of varying sizes which are powered by solar panels, so if you did want a little bit more luxury and a way to charge your phone, these would be a great option. The undercover picnic area was also a welcome addition so we could sit together properly for meals (or if it's raining!) and we were pleasantly amused by the local chickens and ducks who came over to have a nosey at what they could scrounge. There is a pub not too far from the site that serves good grub and friendly service. Gives a respite from the weather if it's a bit dreary or you've had a good day of walking / exploring and want a hot cooked meal and a pint. Altogether, Kestrel Lodge was a lovely and peaceful gem of a campsite that was a pleasure to stay at and we can't wait to come back again.

Excellent campsite!!

Fantastic campsite, especially friendly staff assisting with the check-in etc. facilities are clean, with easy access to drinking water, etc and the showers were hot! Honesty shop well stocked. Great location, easy access to the Cumbria Way, and a lovely walk to local pub for a pint and good pub grub after a long day in the hills. 100% recommended and will definitely be returning

The site was exactly as described and we were pleased with the shower and toilets which were kept really clean. We liked the later check-in time of 7pm.

We love everything about this place. The facilities are so well thought out. A secure dog park, a reading nook, plentiful fire pits. The little shop is stocked with essentials. Lovely hot shower and everything is very clean. The couple who run it are absolutely lovely. We can't wait to go again and it will be even better when the weather is a little kinder. Lovely pub down the road too with vegan options. Also, having a no children policy is a welcome break from the noise.

Medium Tent - Electric Grass Tent PitchesApr 2026

On arrival, we were shown all the campsite amenities and shown to our pitch site. We took our dog with us and there is a doggy field at the bottom of the campsite with toys, dog mess bags and water for them. The shop has enough stock that is required if you have forgotten anything and has an honesty box shop outside for out of hours. The shower and toilets were clean and modern and they have a wet room for busy periods. The only thing that let the camping experience down was the weather.

Lovely quiet site!

What a little gem! Beautiful views, great location - 15 minute drive from Keswick, but also with lots of options for walks straight from the campsite. This was the most peaceful and quiet site I ever stayed on. Facilities are very good and clean - my only tiny complaint is that washing up sinks are very low, so for someone like me - tall with bad back - it was quite uncomfortable to use them. That will not put me off from coming back to Kestrel Lodge Campsite next time I plan to visit Lakes.

Only stayed overnight en route to Scotland but would return to explore the beautiful area. Great site with everything you'd need to stay longer. The Sun Inn is also recommended for great food.

What a lovely find! This site is quiet and thoughtfully laid out. It is situated on higher ground so little risk of floods. A good pub not far away, serving food (20min walk). Great for dogs with toys in the 'dog library', and a secure field to run in. We we were in a camper, hardstanding with EHU. All facilities great. Will go back again, as it is very well placed for hiking.
