Keep it simple with Wild Camping at Barkerfields Farm. It's a friendly family farm where you, the kids and the pooch can relax in the tent with access to basic facilities, see the sunset and be ready for the best of the Peak District. Ideally located close to Bakewell, with two excellent pubs and a tearoom to enjoy - you're not far from a few indulgences. And walkers will love taking in the routes to Magpie Mine and Lathkill Dale.

Great location, beautiful countryside and the friendliest lady (Cheryl) looking after the place. She even got our campfire lit (as well as supplying the wood, marshmallows and sticks for roasting them). Cleanest portaloos I have ever seen. Great experience. Closest to wild camping with benefits: washing up facilities, WC and ability to have a campfire. Great pub twenty mins walk. Highly recommend.

Very friendly welcoming from owner. The only two things that let it down is they could do with another shower cubicle and the toilet had empty hand sanitizer, which is dangerous with the Covid epidemic. Very peaceful site. Nice pub nearby.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I’m pleased you liked the location as we aim to make it as peaceful as possible as if your camping in the wild. This is why we only provide one shower (sort of a bit of a luxury item) because if your camping in the wild you wouldn’t find a shower unless you found a waterfall or a place to swim. This is why the shower is also cold. With regards to the hand sanitiser, I check the facilities twice a day and as soon as I realised it was empty it was replaced with a full one promptly. Thank you.

Nice lady. Great location - fields and hills as far as the eye can see. Lots of space and safe to play. Very peaceful, but not too far from places of interest. Great sunsets.

Thank you, we enjoy the sunsets too.

We would definitely recommend this site, so clean and peaceful. The owners are really friendly and were always popping in to clean the toilets and showers, empty the rubbish, etc. There are lots of walks and places to visit nearby and a couple of pubs a short distance away. Great view to watch the sunset. We'll definitely come back.

This campsite was perfect for what we were looking for - a wild night camping under the stars. We went not expecting any toilets or facilities, but there were portaloos which were very clean, and a fresh water shower. The owners came round and made sure they said hello and checked we were settled in. Really lovely experience and we will be coming back! The close proximity to Bakewell was also perfect to go exploring and grab some tarts!
Site's response
Thank you. We’re pleased you enjoyed your stay. Next time pop to Bakewell and try a Bakewell pudding.

A beautiful back to basics camp where we were made to feel very welcome. The owner was fantastic, very friendly and ensured we knew about the local area and the things we could do there. The facilities, although basic, were immaculate. The owners cleaned these regularly. The site was big enough for the children to play. We will absolutely return!

Great site with the most friendly staff. Plenty of space. Other campers were very friendly and a mix of families, couples and groups of friends. Can't recommend it highly enough!
Site's response
Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We are a couple and family-friendly campsite. We're actually not a site for groups, but the odd one does end up booking in. Luckily they've been great so far. Hope to see you again next year.

We stayed here for 2 nights, the owners were amazing, so polite and made sure the facilities were immaculate at all times. The site was quiet, everyone had enough space, and because you could choose where to pitch up, everyone gave each other lots of space. The open field was amazing for children and our doggy. We will definitely return.

We were warmly greeted when we arrived. The field was beautiful and quiet. There was a very friendly local pub in walking distance which we went to every night. We will definitely come again next year! Thank you very much.

Very large field, which was flat for the majority. 360° views of the beautiful scenery. Facilities (4 x portaloos & 1 x Shower) were very clean. The owner was really friendly. There are no trees or walls to control the wind, so be prepared for a gusty visit.
Site's response
Thank you for your review. Yes we don't have any trees around to protect you from the wind, but we are a pop-up wild camping campsite. One bonus to this is that you do get 360-degree views of the countryside. To be honest, we don't get that many windy days up there.

Me and my 2 children aged 10 and 7 stayed here very helpful. Shower does have hot water, loos very clean and an area with sink to wash pots. They also provided wood at a cost a little which I didn't know at the time but do now, owner very friendly, would definitely stay again.

Just what we wanted to try the new tent. Very basic but we didn't want anything extra. The toilet was clean & there was a sink to clean pots. Plenty of space to let the dog run around. Views were lovely. Owners were friendly.

I enjoyed a lovely 2 nights at Barkerfields Farm, the campsite is spacious and surrounded by stunning views and there are plenty of good walks nearby. A short walk to Monyash village with a couple of pubs and there are a selection of sweet snacks available to buy at the campsite. We received a warm welcome from Cheryl and there was helpful local information on boards around the entrance. The campsite hosted a mixture of couples, families and groups and we would happily go again as a couple or with a group of friends. Facilities were clean and adequate but do bear in mind they are basic, a taste of wild camping! We will definitely be booking again for next summer.

So I decided that I wanted to try solo camping but thought that heading to a campsite was a happy first step. When I arrived I was greeted by the wonderful site owner who explained the area, the farm and the fact they keep the ground organic to feed the cattle at the end of the season. There were local eggs, milk and freshly baked cakes for sale with an honesty box. This campsite is perfect for families, solo campers, couples and anyone who wants a clean, respectful and peaceful stay. The views of the surrounding hills were amazing and the location is right in the middle of the Peak District with easy access to all tourist destinations.

Lovely hosts, great campsite, lots of room, had a lovely little honesty box cake shop - could of been more showers but good for a wild camping experience. Great for all campers.

I liked this place and so did the kids. Very basic but great location and everything you need to survive - plus cake. Sadly, there was a bit of a gale when we stayed and we had to pack up our tent in the middle of the night and go home. It is a bit exposed so if wind is forecast, be aware! If the weather is nice you will have a great time.
