Pod - Standard Camping PodsJan 2022

I booked a last minute New Year break for a night in a camping pod. Loved the set up of where the pods were, we got one over looking the river. It was very peaceful and secluded. Pod was very clean and even had a heater in there just to take the chill off, we were grateful for it as it was a windy night. Great location, friendly staff - would highly recommend!

Site's response

Thanks so much for the lovely review Emma! We hope to welcome you again in the future.

Pod - Easy Access Camping PodDec 2021

We had the best time, fantastic get away before the crazy Xmas period. Toilet facilities were exceptionally clean and kept that way. All water, bins etc. were easy to find and clean. Staff were really helpful and informative on the local area. The pod itself was fantastic, clean warm and cosy. We spent 2 warm, cosy nights here and the fact we could take the dogs on their first glamping trip was great.

Thanks so much for the lovely review Kerin! We hope to welcome you again in the future.

Small Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent PitchesNov 2021

I just wanted somewhere quiet and tucked away with excellent access to Stanage edge. North Lees campsite delivered on all of these. Lots of space with amazing views and a 30 min hike to the beginning of the Stanage Edge circular walk through a scenic forested area. There are pods there too, which I didn't use, but they looked great; would probably make an ideal romantic getaway. Service was great, they have a shop there and the lady that greeted me was really helpful. There are showers, kitchen facilities, basically everything you need and all at an amazing price.

Site's response

Thanks James, we are pleased you had a great time and enjoyed the facilities as well as the local scenery! We hope to welcome you again in the future.

Pod - Easy Access Camping PodOct 2021

Everything was perfect! We even stayed an extra night which the staff were more than accommodating and helpful with. If I could add more stars for the value of money, I would give 10! Definitely will return.

We really appreciate your lovely review Katie-Ann! We hope to welcome you again in the future.

Large Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent PitchesOct 2021

Absolutely stunning, gorgeous location, ground somewhat sloped though, everything you need apart from an onsite shop/freezer pack facility. Would camp here again but would try for a flatter pitch if possible :-)

Site's response

Thanks for your review Hannah! We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay with us. We do stock a few things now in the little onsite shop, and we do have a little freezer now for ice blocks, but you still need to bring your own at this point :) We hope to see you again in the future!

Pod - Standard Camping PodsSep 2021

Absolutely beautiful setting and pods were beautiful. Lovely owner and cracking 30 min walk to local village. The only thing that let it down for me was the washing facilities. Ladies toilets were dirty and cold. Hand soap was empty and top of soap was dirty where someone had used it. Can't help it but it was full of dead bugs. There was 1x shower in the disabled toilet and struggled to get in for a shower as was in use when I went twice. Didn't fancy washing at a communal sink right next to the door. Overall a cute little site in a peaceful location. Definitely be returning but with wet wipes! Xx

Site's response

Thanks for your review and we are glad you enjoyed the site and pod. We are renovating our washrooms this winter and they will have a very new a fresh feel to them next season so please watch this space........

A beautifully secluded location with plenty of space to pitch a tent and facilities nearby. The biggest positive for me was how close the site is to Stanage edge, so it is the ideal camping location for climbers and hikers alike.

Site's response

Thanks Ross, we are pleased you had a great time and enjoyed the facilities as well as the local climbing! We hope to welcome you again in the future.

Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent PitchesAug 2021

It was a lovely rural site surrounded by woods and some nice walks from the site up to Stanage edge. Unfortunately a group of about 7 large tents were pitched up over the wall from us on the first evening with a 'party' tent in the centre and at 10 pm the karaoke started with group singing and music. We were treated to this the following night also. It is acceptable to have some fun with friends on a short break but the site does say on the website that it has a quite policy from 10 pm until 8 am ... however, there is no one official on site during the evening to enforce this and so we were left to either tackle the large group ourselves or put up with it.

Site's response

Thanks for your feedback, like most campsites we do expect our guests to abide by the site rules and most do, unfortunately a small minority do not and I am sorry you have been affected during your stay. Had we been aware of this situation following the first night we certainly would have talked to the group in question and re-iterated our quiet time policy to them so your second night would have been unaffected.

Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent PitchesAug 2021

A quiet and basic campsite with good facilities and easy access on to Stanage. Ideal as a base for climbers with Stanage Edge Plantation and Popular End being accessible from the site on foot and a short drive to the eastern grit edges including Derwent Edge, Bamford Edge and Burbage north.

Site's response

Thanks- we are pleased you had a great time and enjoyed the facilities as well as the local climbing! We hope to welcome you again in the future.

Small Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent PitchesAug 2021

Lovely site & location, but the facilities (toilet & showers) were less than perfect, as they could do with updating!! Staff very pleasant & helpful...

Site's response

Thanks for your feedback and it is great to know you enjoyed the site and it's location. Our washrooms are due to be refurbished this winter which will be a big improvement and we hope our guests will enjoy these renovated facilities next season.

A great site.

Small Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent PitchesAug 2021

The walking is fantastic and it's really easy to go to Hathersage via a footpath. I like the fact that there are few campervans so the noise is less, e.g. shutting doors. Also there are several fields which is also good. I love this site for the reasons above, but there are a few things which would make it even better. Firstly some hooks in the washroom for towels and coats. A simple thing but it would make the stay better. Secondly, the showers were cold. I don't know if that was normal or if they weren't working when I took a shower. Otherwise, I can't fault the site.

Site's response

Thanks for your review and we glad you enjoyed your stay. Our washrooms are being renovated this winter so we will try and add some extra hooks.

Small Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent PitchesJun 2021

Difficult to find but when you do, it's a hidden gem in the foothills of Stanage Edge, a lovely, tranquil setting. The facilities are good, the pitches are all sloped though but overall great value for money.

Thank you- we are pleased you had a great time and enjoyed the facilities as well as the local scenery! We hope to welcome you again in the future.

Small Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent PitchesJun 2021

As part of a climbing group we found this to be perfect with Stanage Edge within easy walking distance. It was fully booked but apart from the car parking it didn’t ‘feel’ busy and everyone was quiet after 10pm. Main suggestion is that parking is monitored a bit more at busy times as one of our group who had booked a campervan space found those marked as such to be occupied by cars. Fortunately as a group we were able to block each other in.

Site's response

Thanks for your Feedback and we are glad you enjoyed your stay with us. We do try very hard to monitor the parking situation and do have limits set on the number of cars that are supposed to be on site. I am sorry to hear your campervan spot was taken by a car and had we known about this at the time we would have attempted to contact the owner and requested they move it. We do appreciate your group helping the situation with your own considerate parking and we hope to welcome you back next year.
