Wonderful stay in a spectacular location

We had a wonderful stay at North Lees in one of the camping pods. The location is fantastic: peaceful and secluded, with great walks straight from the campsite, but within easy reach of the amenities of Hathersage. We actually walked to and from Hathersage Station with all our gear; a pleasant 30ish minute walk, though may not have been so keen had it been raining! The campsite was quiet, despite it being quite busy over the weekend with large groups. Shower and washing facilities were decent and kept clean enough considering the number of people. Some hooks/shelves to hang/store things would have been useful both in the shower block and the camping pod. Likewise, would advise bringing a thick sleeping mat or even airbed for the camping pods for a comfy night's sleep - the floor is hard! We had a wonderful stay at North Lees and will certainly be coming again. Thank you.

Great site!

Had a quick one-night stay with my 5 year old daughter. The pod was immaculately clean, nice and cosy. Nice little paths so you don't get muddy walking back and forth. Car park for vehicles, which I always prefer as you don't spend all night listening to car doors slamming as people nip in and out for stuff. Facilities were clean, although there was no toilet paper in the men's by the time we got there (7 o clock). It was nice that there was a key safe for our pod key, so we could just turn up and get on with it. Beautiful campsite with lots of little bits for my daughter to explore. It was a little hard to find our pod in the dark (maybe a map next to the key safe would be useful?). It did add to the adventure though!

On a flight path and a slope

Plane noise loud from about 5am. There are issues of the site that are "gently sloping" as per the description but most of those are near the parking areas. We also had an issue with booking a parking space. We booked a small tent as we didn't see that we needed to book a parking space. After booking, we then noticed the receipt said if we were coming by car, we needed to book a space. Tried to ring to do so but couldn't get through. When we arrived, we were told there'd been a cancellation so we could park, but that technically they could ask us to park in the village a mile away. This is unsatisfactory: You shouldn't unsettle your customers by withdrawing parking rights - just explain the situation to them, preferably apologise and let them know that your working on a solution. Good points were that camping areas are spacious and other campers were respectful, friendly and quiet at night. The location is nice, apart from the flight path element, surrounded by woodland just below Stanage Edge. Facilities clean enough, though toilet floors permanently pooled with water from shower overflows.

Family pod for 5 stay

The pod was an awesome way to do glamping, we were warm and comfortable. The location is absolutely stunning and there is so much to explore nearby, would definitely recommend a stay here.

Ideal

Friendly staff. Good facilities. Pod was ideal. Dog friendly. Camp is nicely located for access to Hope Valley and beyond.

Absolutely love it

Very quiet site, easy to get to. Surrounded with beautiful nature in the middle of Peak District National Park. Fantastic for cycling, walking and hiking. Perfect for everyone searching for a bit of peace and quiet.

Backpackers paradise

Great remote quiet site. Preferred no campervans or caravans, access drive or walk from station very convenient and scenic. Hikes, bouldering and climbing 2km uphill!!

Great spot

Great location. Beautiful walk into Hathersage. Quite challenging to find a level spot, but still good choice for where to pitch. Facilities going through refurb, but I'm sure will be great.

Fabulous site

What a fantastic little gem of a site. Had a fabulous stay in an amazing location. Great facilities, secluded, peaceful and good value for money. Just look out when booking to include parking, I missed it but it was kindly accommodated for even on a busy weekend.

Really good experience

I accidentally booked the wrong weekend and the team were wonderful at squeezing me in so I could go on the weekend I had planned with some friends. The site was very clean, including the bathrooms and showers. On the last morning there was no hot water, but not the end of the world. There is a noise curfew which meant it was very quiet during the night and the fact that the car park was separate from the camping site means you aren't woken up by cars. It's a lovely walk over the hills to the town where there are some fantastic pubs. Really enjoyed my stay and definitely given me a camping bug! Can't wait to book again.

Pod was very clean and held warmth when temperature dropped outside. Sited next to the stream which gave nice ambient noises. Site staff were very helpful and friendly. Would book again.

Clean

Very clean campsite with staff who were nothing but friendly and relaxed. Hathersage centre was only a short walk away through beautiful fields. We would definitely recommend this campsite and hope to return.

Lovely quiet campsite

Lovely one night stay camping in a pod with my daughter. Quiet and peaceful site in a great location for stunning walks in the area, and also close to Hathersage. Will be back!

One night stay

North Lees Campsite is ideally situated for Stanage Edge walks and climbing, as well as for eating out in Hathersage. My husband had a nice hot shower in the evening, but sadly my shower was cold in the morning. This could be due to the fact that there was a large adolescent school party also camping, so the hot water had possibly been used up. The campsite is situated on gently sloping hills, so you do need to pitch your tent carefully. I would stay again.

Fantastic!

An absolutely lovely location with very friendly staff. The pitches are neatly maintained and the addition of the wheelbarrows for moving your gear is genius. We plan to go again and would highly recommend!

Perfect for a quiet break

Came here for a much needed break from my role as a carer. Spent 2 nights alone in a pod with my camera and sketch books and it couldn't have been more peaceful. The staff were very friendly and helpful, facilities plentifully and clean, and the location is beautiful and quiet. Not the place to come if you're wanting to party around the campfire!
