About Bramble Meadow

Eco-conscious family friendly camping surrounded by picturesque countryside just 15 minutes from the Dartmoor National Park, with Totnes and the River Dart nearby. There are just three grass pitches for campers with tents, all within their own mown area without electric. Each one takes up to six people. Additionally, there is one non electric grass pitch for small campervans only, also in its own area and accepts up to six people. With just five pitches, the site never feels crowded. The site also has two cosy shepherd's huts sleeping two adults and one child. Acorn shepherd's hut is designed for a more simple stay, equipped with a double bed made up for your arrival, a dining table and a cosy log burner for those colder evenings. Outside there is a seating area where you can spend nights relaxing around the fire pit toasting marshmallows and stargazing. Willow Hut is a great option for something a bit more luxe, kitted out with a small kitchenette complete with a two ring gas hob, a kettle, pots, pans and crockery. Inside is also a double bed, a dining table and a log burner. Next door to the hut is a private bathroom with a hot shower and compost toilet. Outside is a large garden area with seating and a fire pit for alfresco evenings under the stars. A basket of logs is included. The site aims to be as eco-friendly and sustainable as possible and asks for guests to please bring eco friendly toiletries where possible. Spend your days admiring an abundance of wildlife and enjoying the birdsong, the site focuses on planting new trees and letting the grass and wildflowers bloom. Explore the local countryside or venture down to the coastline, with many lovely beaches to choose from just a short drive away. Campfires are allowed in raised fire pits provided by the site free of charge, firewood is available and can be ordered when you book. This is a Greener Camping Club site meaning at least one person per booking must be a member, this costs just £12 and can be added to your booking. Sorry, dogs are not permitted on site.

Bramble Meadow is open from 01/05 to 30/09.

A note from the site themselves...

Past guests have said Bramble Meadow is a 'very special place' and we are sure you will agree with them. We always wanted our own little piece of Devon to escape to and were lucky enough to be able to buy this lovely meadow in the 2010s.

Since then we have been planting new trees and a small orchard, we also try to let the grass and wildflowers grow as much as possible to encourage wildlife, this seems to be working as this year I spotted a new variety of butterfly that I hadn't seen before, a marbled white.

In 2020, our son Henry decided he wanted to build a shepherd's hut so that we could invite guests to visit and enjoy our peaceful meadow too and so our little campsite was created. He now has a full time business making bespoke shepherd's huts and campsite facilities.

Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent PitchesJul 2023

I cannot recommend this site enough. The location is perfect if you want to stay close to nature. We spent a glorious evening watching the cow in the neighbouring field along with the nearby chickens. We upgraded to a shepherd hut and the comfort of a bed but would have been just as happy in our tent. The compostable toilets were clean with no smell at all so no concerns for anyone on that front. We loved the place so much we have already rebooked our return.

Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent PitchesAug 2023

We had an amazing stay camping here. It's a beautiful and secluded spot and the hosts were very helpful and accommodating. The whole site was so well looked after and clean. I personally had reservations about the composting loos however they were very clean and well maintained. I would definitely return and recommend!
