This city's just 33 miles from London's busy streets and sits in the heart of Essex - making it a lovely day escape or a spot for a longer getaway.
Top of your list should be a browse around the beautiful Chelmsford Cathedral. Parts of the cathedral are over 800 years old and this striking building is steeped in history, once the source of fierce feuding in the Wars of the Roses.
Another stunning landmark is Hylands House, nestled along the edge of the city, with more than 500 acres to explore. It's Grade II listed, boasting extensive grounds, a scrummy cafe and a castle themed adventure play ground for your youngsters.
Equally gorgeous for nature lovers is Hyde Hall with its good looking RHS gardens, a short drive outside of town.
And if your cubs are ready for some indoor fun, give them a look around the Chelmsford Museum and the Essex Regiment Museum for some shiny armour and quirky pieces from history. Then test out your somersaults on the incredible trampolines at Jump Street - you're sure to be flying high in no time!
