Very friendly and hospitable host. I'd definitely recommend if you want to get back to nature. The fire pit made a great night too. Beautiful location. Lovely and wild. Basic but clean facilities. Lots of room so you can barely hear the neighbours. I'll be going again.

Amazing views! Kids absolutely loved the pigs, horses, chickens! Great price!
Site's response
Thank you Hannah It really was fun to see the children getting so excited about the pigs and chickens. The grass always being greener on the other side of the fence the horses were fed miniature handfuls of grass by so many children they were hovering at the gate this evening wondering where their new friends had gone. Hope to see you all again soon. Best regards Marcus and Petra

Had a very enjoyable two nights here in a lovely setting. The location requires quite a walk from Moreton on foot but Emma was happy to give me a lift into Moreton to go to the bus stop. The setting is in the middle of beautiful countryside, which was lovely to see. Two minor points for improvement; the field does get quite muddy, especially around the entrance to the field and some extra woodchips around the entrance wouldn't go amiss as it is hard to get onto the field without walking through mud. Also some recycling bins would be good. Other than that, I had a delightful stay and would happily recommend this campsite and stay here again.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review, Samuel. I hope you had a safe journey home. We have had some turbulent weather lately and it is a lot muddier than usual for this time of the year, I appreciate your suggestion and I will request our woodsman to put some wood chippings down. We have always had a leave no trace ethos but if that were to change, recycling bins would be first. Please do come back and visit, you have 150 acres of ancient, historic woodland yet to explore! We had a good couple of days, with wood for making fire and great outdoor kitchen. After long walks in the beautiful surroundings, it wasn't nice arriving at the entrance of the campsite with a barking dog.
Site's response
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review, Bonnie. I'm so glad you enjoyed the beautiful countryside and your stay in general. Minnie, the campsite puppy, is sorry that she alarmed you by barking at the gate, she thinks that she's being helpful by letting us know when people have arrived! I hope you will come and visit us again in the future. Emma

I met one of the owners, Petra, on a train from Bath to London a few weeks back and she mentioned her campsite (Hi Petra! Aimee here!), so I immediately roped in a friend and we cycled our way to Paddington, then from Moreton in Marsh to the wood. It was excellent, peaceful, full of nature and the woods were gorgeous. The family dogs are so well-behaved and sweet, I personally loved Applejack and would have taken her home if I could. Showering outdoors was good fun, the compost toilets I loved the idea of and to be honest they were completely fine to use. We saw a fallow deer in the woods and spent our days cycling about to Bourton on the Water, and the other little Cotswolds towns. Definitely wouldn't be for people who like their homely creature comforts but then if that's you, why are you camping anyway?
Site's response
What a lovely chance meeting! We're so happy that you enjoyed your stay and appreciated everything our site offers Aimee. I hope you can come and visit Applejack and the rest of us again soon! Emma

Camping in a butterfly meadow in mid-summer is a fabulous experience. We had a great time, there was lots of space to play and woods to explore. We hired a firepit and happily sat around it listening to owls in the evening. The one downside is the access to facilities. I'm happy with compost loos etc but there weren't many to go around, they'd run out of loo roll by Sunday morning and I thought they smelt more than they should. There are only two sinks for washing/ washing up/ filling up water containers - a few more water points and another sink to do ablutions and another for washing up would be good.

Hi Becky, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We're happy you enjoyed your stay with us and can only apologise that the compost toilets weren't checked and re-stocked more frequently. We are a couple of weeks from having our new toilet and shower block in the opposite field, up and running so hope that you will consider visiting us again with our improved facilities. Best wishes, Emma

Wolford Wood is amazing place to spend a couple of nights. We stayed in the Avalon Cabins and they were clean and comfortable. The wood itself was great fun to explore and with Moreton in March just down the road there is plenty to see and do.

Overall we enjoyed our stay. The site is lovely, only a short drive from nice towns and is sheltered from the wind by the trees. Overall it wasn't bad, and was fine for a short stay, but for the price we paid we would have expected the facilities to be a bit better. On the first night the campsite was very busy and because of this the compost toilets became rather unpleasant. They also ran out of fire pits and logs. On the second night, the site was much quieter and the toilets were a bit better. However the lights did not work in the night time and the logs for the fire pits were not topped up. The showers were nice when the hot water was working, though unfortunately that was not all the time. Given the price that we paid for this campsite, we expected the facilities to be a bit better than they were. I think a bit more frequent checking of the toilets and facilities, etc. would massively improve things on a busy night.
Site's response
Thank you for your fair and reasonable review. I'm happy that your stay was enjoyable overall and you appreciated our site and it's location. I'm sure Jubilee weekend was extremely busy on most campsites and we did our best as a small team to keep everyone happy. Unfortunately compost toilets are quite hard to maintain with lots of people as they can be blocked up easily and quickly by guests not using them correctly. Our warden did check on them/unblock them every hour. I think there was some confusion about logs running out as a member of our staff had written "sold out" on the QR code for the fire pits which is located on the lid of the wood container! I fully take on board all of your points, we are aware that our facilities need improving and are currently in the middle of building a new shower block and toilets (which you may have noticed in the field at the top of the car park). I hope you will come back and stay with us again once we have made these upgrades. Emma

Exactly as described, this is a lovely location with natural pitches. We had horses next to us, there were wild orchids and the woods are lovely and wild. We had a lovely stay for 5 days and it was very peaceful. The fridge/freezer and kettle were all very useful and the composting loos (when people use them properly) are a lot less smelly than porta loos. We did use the showers which are a bit temperamental when people run other taps, but we managed fine and our 7 year old even said they were OK. This isn't a commercial site, it is family run and the facilities fit the description.

Genuine, friendly staff in a homely, chilled out place. We stayed for the 'moth night' which included an interesting talk by Dave the expert, lovely meal, setting the moth traps in the forest, toasting marshmallows and magical storytelling by Emma, who worked really hard to keep everyone happy and entertained. In the morning, we were shown the moths and given bacon buns. The kids loved all the animals. Our favourites included Bella the pig and Applejack the dog. We stayed in Avalon 2 - a comfortable, homely cabin which was perfect for an adult and twins, aged 10.
