Glamping Cabin - Small Avalon CabinApr 2022

Such a beautiful setting. Really comfortable beds and the huts even had heating. Lovely touch with the lavender pillows. Very clean overall and real care taken in offering everything. The fire pit was wonderful and the kitchen area was excellent. Thank you, will definitely book again.

Glamping Cabin - Woodmans CabinApr 2022

Emma is great, helpful and attentive! The family who owns the farm is super nice and very helpful. Our kids enjoyed the farm animals and the vast open area to run around, play hide and seek and just enjoy nature. The open shower was super fun, and the cabin is welcoming, clean, smells wonderful and super comfortable (no back pains, which is unusual for me away from home). The kitchen could use a better drainage, still, it's not something that causes any issues (at least not for us). Toilets are outdoor composite style toilets which are very ecological, we believe that it is the right way to do it while trying to preserve as much nature as possible. Fire pit and fire logs are great, we enjoyed the fire pit everyday. I brought Swedish torches with us but there's no need for them. We also brought two electric portable torches with us as Emma suggested and it was indeed the right thing to do (helpful at night when going to the toilet). Gas kitchen works well when you have propane gas in hand, owners supplied us with as much as we needed to cook (and we cooked 3 times every day). We used the other shower when it was raining, also, good gas heater shower, warm and fun.

Glamping Cabin - Avalon CabinFeb 2022

Stayed for a night in the middle of February. We got the fire pit working not just to keep us warm, but to cook dinner. Lovely little setting with a warm cabin, facilities etc. Really enjoyed our stay and will be back again soon. My 10 year old had the best time ever.

Site's response

Thank you for a lovely review, we will remember your beaming faces after achieving everything you wished for during your stay! We look forward to welcoming you both back in the near future.

Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent PitchesSep 2021

Okay site, not quite what I expected. Be prepared for long grass to pitch your tent on, which means lots of bugs & crickets. Seemed a bit bodged together with the kitchen area etc. Not for us.

Site's response

Hi Katrina, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I'm sorry we fell short of your expectations. We aim to be as sustainable as possible here so while others find our re-cycled outside bathroom vanity/kitchen unit sinks adorable, I can understand it may be viewed differently. Happy camping! Emma

Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent PitchesSep 2021

The site is better than most basic sites - the showers are hot, there is actually a fridge and a freezer in the field, and the location is beautiful.

Site's response

Thank you for such a lovely review Brendan, we're so happy that you thoroughly enjoyed your stay- please come back and visit us soon!

Superb back-to-basics, natural camping with no frills

Wolford Wood is a really rustic and back-to-basics site about 5 mins drive from Moreton-in-Marsh. It reminded me of my scouting and bushcraft days of old, so don't expect to turn up to perfectly mown fields with pristine facilities. Wherever possible, everything is left natural so expect to camp amongst the long grass and wild flowers and follow the little trails between your pitch and the loos etc. If you want a 'getaway from technology and crowds' site then you'll love it here. Emma the warden was fantastic at welcoming me and showing me around. She took the time to explain the ethos of the site and was always on hand to answer questions. Wolford Wood are clearly trying to break the mould and offer an alternative for those people wanting everything a little more natural and simple. Within reason, you have access to the whole site and can freely roam the woodland following the deer trails, listening to the birds or foraging for wild foods (I found wild raspberries, a rare treat!) The compost loos are pleasantly simple, the outdoor showers are a little hit and miss but the wardens are aware and are working to improve them. Washing up facilities are basics, but more than adequate. Plentiful amounts of logs for the fire pits (at a nominal cost) I'd love to return one day soon. Note: No vehicles are permitted on the camping field and wheelbarrows are provided for moving your kit - but think about how you pack if it's raining (as it was when I arrived) so your kit stays dry as you wheel it across the field and pitch up.

Site's response

Hi Simon, Thank you for your kind words and lovely review. It was a pleasure meeting you and I will look out for your next booking to make sure to be on site to welcome you back. Emma

It had very minimal facilities but was a lovely remote place for a fun night of stargazing with the kids.

Small Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent PitchesAug 2021

A rural, basic campsite with just enough essential facilities, a big grassy field set back from the road. The entrance is through the five bar gate next to the owner's house and then maybe a couple of hundred metres down the track. No cars are allowed on the field. You can park by the gate into the field to unload (wheel barrows provided) and then park maybe 60m further on in a large yard set into the woodland. Sturdy fire bowls can be hired, and logs purchased (felled and seasoned onsite from the woodland). You need to bring chairs, table etc as what you get is a circle of cut grass, maybe 25m, from the next pitch. There are compost loos, (and portaloos at peak times) gas fired showers, a gazebo with sink, electric kettle, phone charging plug. We've been lucky with the weather both times. On this occasion we arrived late, discovered we had no pans in the car and the owner found us two and saved the day (after a long motorway delay, food was much in need). It is a great place to sit round a fire talking, lie in your tent listening to the owls, or get up late and chill before nipping into to Moreton-in-Marsh for supplies, cafes etc. Previously during midweek and off peak, we were the only people, a great end to a week long road trip with my son. If you want an onsite bar and disco, this isn't your sort of place. Long may it remain much as it is.

Site's response

What a detailed and lovely review, John. Thank you so much for taking the time to write this. It's lovely to receive returning guests and we hope to welcome you back again soon. Warm wishes, Emma
