Far and Away Camping is nestled amongst old farming land just 20 minutes from Ashford and Maidstone. This pop up site allows you to camp within seven acres of wild grasses and beautiful flower meadows. A family and dog friendly site under a five minute drive to Headcorn village, and less than an hour's drive to the port of Dover. Choose from non electric grass tent or touring pitches, or three bell tents with an outdoor kitchenette!

About the site

Situated in the countryside, a half an hour drive from Kent, this peaceful, off-grid pop up site allows you to spend relaxed afternoons spotting hot air balloons and Spitfires from the local aerodrome. Keep your ears peeled for roaring lions in the Big Cat Sanctuary, under ten minutes from the site. A great area for families and pups to relish in the untamed outdoors! There are 30 non electric grass pitches for tents, trailer tents, campervans, and motorhomes. One vehicle is allowed per pitch and has space for one car to be parked beside. For camping, one tent or trailer is allowed per pitch. For those after extra comfort, three bell tents are available. Stay in the Two Top Bell Tent, able to sleep two, or choose the Four Top Bell Tent, able to sleep four. For larger groups, choose the Big Top Bell Tent, furnished to sleep five guests. Each bell tent has access to an outdoor kitchen, seating, and a fire pit. Bedding is provided, but please bring your own towels. The lively village of Headcorn is within a five minute car journey from a train station connecting to Charing Cross in London in an hour. It also connects to Sevenoaks, Ashford, and Canterbury. Two dogs per pitch are allowed. Please note, the bell tents are dog free. BBQs and campfires are permitted if raised off the ground.

This site has a portable toilet, a gas shower, and drinking water. There is no electricity, so it is advised that you bring torches and batteries!

Some fire pits are available for hire, and firewood to purchase if required.

There is a washing up area and a dog exercise area available.

Guests staying in the bell tents have access to a kitchenette with an outside seating area.

For essentials, Headcorn town is a five minute drive away, where you'll find a Sainsbury's Local and a variety of pubs such as George and Dragon or The White Horse.

A note from the site themselves...

The ethos of Far and Away is back-to-basics camping in the great outdoors. Far and Away is a place where we want children to run free, time to stand still, campfires to be the only entertainment and where being outside is an affordable thing for everyone to do.

Every project we undertake at Far and Away comes with the ethos of reduce, reuse, and recycle. We respect the land, offer no gimmicks and showcase the only thing that matters when camping - the great outdoors!

Site rules and policies

* Check-in for camping and touring is between 1pm - 11pm. Please depart by 12pm.

* Check-in for onsite accomodation is between 1pm - 11pm. Please depart by 10am.

* Quiet time from 10pm.

* Please shut all closed gates after use.

* Keep dogs on a lead.

* Put all rubbish in the bins provided.

* Be respectful to the land and those around you.

* Do not access the glamping field.

Things to do on site and in the Headcorn area

For an entertaining family day out, Go Ape Leeds Castle is just a 20 minute drive from the site where adventures for children 6+ and courses for adults are available.

Tenterden market town is 20 minutes away, with Tenterden Leisure Centre and the Kent and East Sussex Railway.

Stoneacre House National Trust and Vintures Park Nature Reserve are also 20 minutes away.
