Things to do in Isle of Sheppey
Sheppey's huge and flat coastal marshlands make the area a real haven for wildlife, particularly the thousands of wildfowl and waders. There are two National Nature Reserves - Elmley and The Swale - and both are deserving of a visit.
Three blue flagged beaches on the Isle of Sheppey (all sand and shingle) are Minster Beach at Minster-on-Sea, Leysdown Beach at traditional resort, Leysdown-on-Sea (with all of the usual shops and amusements), and Sheerness Beach on the north coast.
Leysdown Coastal Park might be the land that time forgot, but kids will have a blast.
The 40 acres of Barton's Point Coastal Park on the other hand is an outdoor haven. From walking and cycling to fishing and geo-caching, there's plenty to do here. A 9 hole pitch and putt will keep the whole family amused.
For something a bit different, try a visit to Flynns Bee Farm.
Just back onto the mainland, Sittingbourne is home to a narrow gauge steam railway (March to September) which allows you to explore the area's paper making history.
