Hunstanton campsites

Hunstanton is a classic Victorian seaside resort in Norfolk. It's unique in that it is an east coast resort that faces west across The Wash, making it one of the few places on the east coast where the sun can be seen setting over the sea. Take a trip out on the water to see the seals or relax on the colourful tractor train which carries visitors the length of the seafront. These Hunstanton campsites offer all you need for the perfect break.

With its outstanding coastline and beautiful rolling countryside, so many people come to Hunstanton to enjoy some of the wonderful walking routes. Stretching from Hunstanton to Cromer, running through the Norfolk coast, The Norfolk Coast Path is a very popular walk, where even the shortest walk reveals a wealth of wild flowers. Rabbits, foxes and other mammals are also a frequent sight.

Whether you are an experienced tourer or haven't been on a bike in years, the area lends itself to the view from the saddle. The Norfolk Coast Cycleway is a network of quieter country roads, lanes and bridleways leading you through varied landscapes and villages. You can bring your own bike or hire one locally. In short, the Norfolk coast is ideal cycling country.

There are four Norfolk Wildlife Trust reserves in West Norfolk, special areas where as well as birds, there’s a chance to see some of England’s rarer species of plants, animals, and insects. Norfolk’s western region skirts the Wash, the UK’s most important estuary for wild birds and a site of international significance.

Hunstanton is the ideal place to learn kite surfing and windsurfing. It offers wide open beaches with flat, shallow water together with prevailing south, south-westerly wind. Hunstanton Watersport School offers specialist instruction to kitesurfing, windsurfing, stand up paddleboard and powerkiting.

Who doesn’t love a day at the seaside? The sound of the ocean, sand between your toes and most importantly, an ice cream in hand. The sandy shores of Hunstanton Beach are one you won’t forget with its candy cane striped cliffs and plenty of fossils to dig up. There’s more than one beach though, you’ll also find South Beach and Old Hunstanton Beach, giving plenty of ocean options.

If you don’t mind a short drive, Heacham Sands is on offer along with Heacham South Beach and Snettisham Beach, all providing sand, shingle and spectacular sunsets. So, grab your camera and hit the beach.

Ahoy there me hearties, Blackbeard’s Adventure Golf is an 18-hole course landscaped to include pirate and aztec themes, with a few little surprises and fairly simple play for a great family tournament!

Next up is Hunstanton Sealife Sanctuary. Head out on an underwater odyssey in a state of the art safe haven for over 2,000 curious and cuddly creatures. It is also Norfolk’s only seal sanctuary that’s open to the public, a dedicated rescue centre where they rehabilitate and release more than 40 orphaned or ill pups every year. You’ll also have the chance to see up close penguins, shrimp, piranhas, turtles, sharks and otters.

Should the weather not be on your side, there’s plenty of indoor choices to tempt you too, start with a day at Alive Oasis, and indoor leisure facility offering pools and slides or pop into Sidney’s Indoor Play Zone - a fantastic soft play centre.

Maybe you’re looking for a quieter activity Paint Me Ceramics is a wonderful friendly family run pottery painting studio where children and adults alike can enjoy a couple of happy hours creating their own personal masterpiece.

A short drive to King's Lynn offers Farmer Fred’s Adventure Play Barn, a 3D farm themed adventure area allowing children to scale dizzy heights, scramble up a water tower and creepy climber tower with 3D rock face, before racing back down to the farmyard on giant spiral slides, twin lane astra slides or, if they dare, the adrenaline packed racing slide. Back on ground level the challenge of the giant ball maze and interactive game barn awaits.

While in King's Lynn a visit to Norfolk Lavender is a must. Their Rare Breeds Animal Centre has wallabies, alpacas, miniature African zebu and the very rare Hungarian screw horned sheep amongst an extensive collection of breeds of rare poultry, goats, sheep, pigs and other animals. Norfolk Lavender is also England’s premier lavender farm cultivating over 100 acres of lavender. It also houses a spectacular indoor soft play centre, probably the largest in East Anglia occupying a huge 8,000 square feet! A crazy fun filled maze of slides, tunnels, rope swings, walkways, bridges and even drop slides.
