Adderbury, Banbury, Oxfordshire

Canal side location

The Pig Place is a rustic adult only campsite set on the banks of the idyllic Oxford Canal, only 20 minutes from the Cotswolds. All the pitches are on grass and come in a wide range of sizes for both tents and tourers. Situated on a working pig farm, meet the onsite animals, enjoy a delicious breakfast at the onsite cafe, buy some fresh produce for the farm shop and watch the barges go by on the canal. Bicester is also just 20 minutes away!

VW-Type Campervan - Gilt - Large Non Electric Grass Touring PitchesOct 2023

This campsite, situated on a working farm, is delightful. It provides peace and quiet as the canal boats drift by. And then as the day gets going, there is a buzz as regulars arrive for fabulous breakfast on a sunny Sunday morning. You might think the resident pigs might be noisy and smelly but you really wouldn't know they are there! It's been my most chilled weekend this year! The only negative is the toilet facilities. The portable style toilets were not the cleanest! Had the festival scent about them!

Fantastic quirky campsite - we will return!

VW-Type Campervan - Gilt - Large Non Electric Grass Touring PitchesOct 2023

We had a lovely one night stay at The Pig Place. Loved the fact there was a little bar and café and that it was also next to the canal. We brought along our own wood and used one of the firepits along the canal side. Food from the café was delicious - in the morning, we had egg and bacon sandwiches, which were huge and tasty. Enjoyed seeing the pigs snuffling about. The reason why I gave a lower rating for facilities and cleanliness, was purely because of the portaloos. In the morning, I could see a gentleman cleaning them as best he could, but you cannot do a lot with portaloos and their smell! Also, the facilities (in terms of washing and toileting) were basic. We would definitely come again but would bring our own camping toilet and be better prepared.

A basic campsite with good food

Backpacker Tent - Piglet - Small Non Electric Grass Tent PitchesOct 2023

The campsite is nicely located by the Oxford canal and you can use the sofas and fire pits (you have to buy the wood or bring your own) by the canal, whilst a small outside bar provides the drinks. The food on site is nice and reasonably priced, with burgers, sausages and veggie options available. A couple of things to note: the café attracts a lot of people stopping for breakfast or lunch, mainly bikers, so can get quite busy. Also, the campsite sits next to a B road with fast traffic, and the tent field is closest to the road, which may bother light sleepers. The staff are welcoming and happy to answer questions and serve in the shop or the café. Would recommend to visit this lovely part of the country, especially for walks or rides on the canal.

We love the pigs

Large Tent - Hog - XL Non Electric Grass Tent PitchesOct 2023

Me and my boyfriend loved it here! Super friendly vibe. Chilled out! Nice bar and lovely sitting outside. Breakfast was great. Pigs were too cute and so interesting to watch, especially when they were getting fed haha. No showers, and toilets are portaloos, but they do make you aware on site and we really don't mind that anyway :)

Chilled break

VW-Type Campervan - Sow - Electric Grass Touring PitchesSep 2023

What an amazing site. Gorgeous location, quirky with the added bonus of some real piggy beauties! The Trough food was fantastic and the staff were so friendly. The Trotters Bar in the evening, with the fire pits dotted around looked fabulous. The site was beautifully kept and the views amazing. A very well stocked shop! We had the most relaxing weekend, will definitely be back.

Perfect spot for a few days

Single Axle Caravan - Sow - Electric Grass Touring PitchesSep 2023

The name of the place tells you that there are pigs, but they don't affect or spoil your stay. Being by the Oxford canal was lovely, and apart from the distant hum of traffic from the M40 motorway, it was peaceful. We have friends and family nearby, and that was our reason for the stay. Would we stay again, yes we would. The lack of showers was a bit disappointing but we are lucky to have one in the caravan. We will definitely be staying there again, especially for one of their music events they hold there. It is an adults only site, which appealed to both of us.

The Pig Place is just the best, fantastic site

Motorhome - Gilt - Large Non Electric Grass Touring PitchesSep 2023

What a brilliant place, if you have not been here then get it on your list as a must go to place. The staff are so helpful and polite. The breakfast was beautiful. Live music on Saturday through the season. It's just brilliant.

Great fun place to stay

Great place to stay, didn't like the toilets but did know it was going to be portaloos.

Twin Axle Caravan - Gilt - Large Non Electric Grass Touring PitchesAug 2023

We booked this site to allow us to break our journey from the North of England to Portsmouth. What a gem! Beautifully kept site, well stocked shop, quirky and interesting vibe, we ate a gorgeous full English breakfast, cooked by the chef whilst looking out over the Oxford canal, it really is a wonderful place with rare breed pigs (absolutely no smell whatsoever!) and ducks just all add to the charm of the place. Well worth a visit.

Good value and pleasant

VW-Type Campervan - Gilt - Large Non Electric Grass Touring PitchesAug 2023

Stayed for just one night on my way back home following a few days away. Nice location next to the Oxford Canal. Although, it's also close to the M40, I think, so a bit of noise from that, but it didn't affect my sleep. Great value I thought. I arrived after the closure time of 6pm but this was not a problem and I let them know in advance. Others arrived later than me as well. It was fun staying with the pigs, I went to say hello before relaxing with a drink. The facilities are limited, like no showers, but you are informed of this beforehand so it was not a problem for me. The breakfast bought on site in the morning was excellent. One other critical point was that there was not a sign on the main road that I saw, so I went right past it initially, but it is shortly after the bridge over the motorway (or before depending on your direction of travel) so bear that in mind when locating it.

Lovely site, friendly staff & good atmosphere

VW-Type Campervan - Gilt - Large Non Electric Grass Touring PitchesAug 2023

Check-in was smooth & friendly, portaloos were clean & despite being on a pig farm, it was really quiet during the night! The food from the Trough was excellent, fresh & tasty - so much so that we didn't do any cooking ourselves. We'd planned to walk into Adderbury but the road is busy & no footpaths but a walk along the canal was just as good. Trotters bar was good & entertainment in The Sty (a singer/guitarist) was a nice surprise. The site is in a great location right on the banks of the canal. There was a nice atmosphere and other guests were respectful regarding noise later on. This was our maiden voyage in our campervan & it couldn't have gone better 😊😊😊
