The cosy and idyllic Poplar Patch is tucked away in a bend of the River Windrush, right in the heart of the Cotswolds. Situated under a canopy of poplar trees from which it gets its name, the campsite blends comfort with a back to nature approach. With only one 5 metre bell tent, guests will have the whole site and facilities to themselves.

About The Poplar Patch

The Poplar Patch is available for guests to enjoy totally to themselves. The secluded spot is completely private, offering a real getaway experience. The 5 metre bell tent sleeps up to four guests. Everything is provided, including a large comfy bed, bedding, cooking and kitchen equipment. If there are more than 2 in your party, you'll be given extra airbeds and will need to bring sleeping bags and towels for these guests. The Poplar Patch lives lightly on the land and respects the secluded beauty of the surroundings. Well behaved dogs are welcome at no extra cost, however guests must bring their own linen and towels.

Open from 28 May to 30 September

The Poplar Patch is surrounded by beautiful Cotswold towns and villages.

Take a quick trip down stream to the market town of Burford - a town full of history and also home to a famous garden centre and exotic wildlife park.

Keep going a little further to explore the villages of Swinbrook where you can enjoy a drink on the river bank, or a tasty meal at The Swan Inn, and Asthall, where you can wonder further along the River Windrush.

Heading upstream, take a long 10 mile circular walk to Great Rissington, with lunch at The Lamb Inn, before heading back for a well-earned rest.

Venture a little further to the bustling Bourton-on-the-Water with its model village, railway museum and Birdland all asking for a visit. To avoid the crowds, a small trip further will take you to Lower Slaughter, where you can pick up a homemade ice cream in the old Mill to take on your walk through the peaceful village.

Switch rivers to the Coln and head to Bibury. Visit the trout farm and take a stroll up Arlington Row and around the near fields, before some afternoon tea at The Swan Hotel, or a pimms at the Catherine Wheel.

Travelling a little further this way will take you to Cirencester, fondly the capital of the Cotswolds. Visit on Monday or Friday to search through the markets, explore the expansive grounds of Cirecenster Park or discover its Roman history at the Corinium Museum.

And if you like Romans, you should definitely make the trip to Chedworth Roman Villa too.

For a more activity packed day take on the climbing wall at Far Peak, or try some water sports at the Lechlade or South Cerney lakes. Or even just bring your bikes and explore the local routes around the site.
