This site is ideal for those wanting to explore the remote island's rugged landscapes and dramatic coastlines. With only 1000 inhabitants on the whole island, it is an ideal escape if you want to get away from everyday life and be at one with nature.

Either relax on site and take in the views over the bay, head down to the beach for a swim or put on your hiking boots and explore the uninhabited hills.

Something the island is know for is it's airport. Just a five minute drive from the site, the airport is known for being the only one in the world that uses a tidal beach as its runway. There is also a cafe where you can enjoy a spot of lunch as you watch the planes fly in.

For something different, get a boat out to Kisimul Castle in the sea, just a five minute trip from Castle Bay. Sitting in the middle of the water, Kisimul is the only surviving medieval castle in the Outer Hebrides islands.

Other nearby attractions include:

  • Traigh Eais (10 minutes)
  • Borve Standing Stone (20 minutes)
  • Barra Heritage Centre (25 minutes)
  • Hebridean Sea Tours (25 minutes)
  • Bagh A'Deas Beach (35 minutes)
