Milton of Fonab Caravan Park is nestled on the banks of the River Tummel, just ten minutes from Pitlochry and the Cairngorms National Park. The site offers both hardstanding and fully serviced pitches for caravans, campervans and motorhomes. This dog friendly park is based close to the National Cycle Route 7 and is in a top spot for fishing, watersports, exploring local Lochs, such as Loch Faskally and Loch Tummel, and hikes up Ben Y Vrackie.

Set on the banks of the River Tummel in stunning Perthshire, this quiet, family-run park offers a peaceful base for a Scottish getaway. Located just off the A9, with onsite salmon fishing, plus views of Ben Y Vrackie and ten minutes from the Cairngorms National Park, it's a top choice to explore this beautiful part of Scotland. Those with a caravan, campervan or motorhome can choose between hardstanding pitches with electric or fully serviced pitches with electric, a fresh water tap and a grey waste drain. There are also static homes onsite. The bustling town of Pitlochry is just a ten minute walk away and has several restaurants, cafes, pubs, a theatre, independent shops and a distillary. It's also home to the famous fish ladder, designed to help over 5,000 salmon each year to safely pass the Dam. The National Cycle Route 7 is easily accessible from here, making it a great stop for walkers and cyclists. There are also several Lochs within a 20 minute drive, perfect for watersports such as paddleboarding, fishing and boating. Faskally Forest is also just a five minute drive away and is a haven for birdwatching, as well as lakeside walks and hikes. Dogs are welcome, but must be kept on a lead at all times. BBQs are allowed, but must be raised off the ground. Sorry, no campfires.

Facilities include a modern toilet and shower block with individual cubicles with wet room style showers, toilets, wash basins, sinks and drying areas with clothes hooks. There are also hairdryers and individual mirrors. A second facility block has both shower and toilet cubicles, and a bath and toilet cubicle. There is also a family bathroom/wetroom with a full size bath, toilet and wash basin.

You'll find a laundry and washing up area towards the river end of the site too, with two coin operated washing machines (£5), two coin operated tumble dryers (£2 for 15 minutes), a spin dryer, sinks for handwashing, an iron, an ironing board and a drying rack.

Your four legged friends are also well catered for, with two exercise areas, plus plenty of walks in the local area. There's also EV charging and free WiFi onsite, plus salmon fishing in the River Tunnel, with a day permit required.

For picking up the essentials, there is a shop onsite open daily from 10am until 7pm. The shop stocks long life milk, rolls, bread and part baked baguettes. The shop has limited stock, but there are both a Co-op and a Premier in Pitlochry, both a five minute drive away.

For dining out, you'll be spoilt for choice in nearby Pitlochry, with several pubs, cafes and restaurants all within a ten minute walk or five minute drive. These include Victoria's Restaurant, The Old Mill Inn, The Auld Smiddy Inn, Hettie's Tea Rooms and McKays Bar and Restaurant. There are also occasional food trucks onsite.

Things to do on site and in the Pitlochry area

There is salmon fishing onsite on the River Tummel, which runs alongside the site. You'll need a day permit for this, and all salmon and grilse must be released and returned to the river.

Just a ten minute walk from the site is the town of Pitlochry. This lively town is known as the "gateway to the Highlands" and has a range of activities and attractions to enjoy, as well as being home to several top eateries, pubs and cafes.

Pitlochry also has "Highland nights" on select Monday evenings from May to September, where visitors can have a taste of Highland life with singers, Scottish Country Dancers and traditional bagpipes.

Of course, a trip to Scotland isn't complete without some whisky, and Blair Athol Distillery (a 5 minute walk) is one of Scotland's oldest distilleries, offering a look into the history of whisky making, along with a dram or two!

Thrill seekers won't want to miss a visit to Highland Fling, a bungee jump and zip line over the River Garry (10 minutes). There's also watersport hire at Pitlochry Boating Station, and Adventure Paddle Boarding, both a five minute drive.

The area is also known for hiking, with local walks including forest walks around Loch Faskally (5 minutes), hilltop walks up Craigower Hill (20 minutes), and a walk from Port-Na-Craig to the Strath of Strathtay, accessed from the site. You can also try a spot of Nordic walking, where you walk with specially designed walking poles.

For those looking for a challenge, take a climb up Ben Y Vrackie, you can even walk to the summit from the park! There are also plenty more walks, hikes, watersports and wildlife to spot in the Cairngorms National Park (10 minutes).
