Brighthouse Farm Caravan and Campsite Reviews

Lawshall, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk

Well maintained site divided into different areas.

Brighthouse Farm is a relaxed and secluded site in the Suffolk countryside, ideal for exploring historic towns such as Bury St Edmunds (aptly titled "The jewel in the crown of Suffolk) and Sudbury. Set on six acres and right next to open fields, the site welcomes tents and caravans on spacious electric and non-electric grass pitches. Enjoy the many walks, local towns, and plenty of space for the kids. Large families and groups are welcome.

We have just returned from Brighthouse Farm and are already planning our next trip there. The farm is lovely, clean and interesting. We had what I would call a private plot for a group of three tents with our own EHU and standpipe, and the location is incredible. Odell is a very welcoming, friendly host, the facilities were more than adequate and I'd say this is probably my favourite campsite I've stayed at. It was brilliant for the kids who had plenty of room to run around and loved watching the rabbits in the field and the tractors driving by. I really can't recommend it enough, we've had such a fabulous time.

Great location for peace and quiet. Nighttime is great for star gazing, bring a torch as it's dark at night and no lights around the site- lovely. New shower block ideal. There is a pub within walking distance The Swan, but check as it's not open everyday and sometimes not open till 5pm. Have been 3 times this year with another booked later in September. Lovely hosts Odell and Ross, and nothing seems to much trouble for them and they look after you. Odell visits you at least once a day with his lovely dog Spice, its a dog friendly site. Have to say our favourite in Suffolk.

What a beautiful spot, full of trees and a mix of sunshine and shade. Odell, Ross and Spice are very welcoming. We will be back as a couple and hopefully with friends and family. Very peaceful (take a torch it's dark!) with well maintained paths to local village pub. A small camp shop is the only missing ingredient.

I have been to this site many times and am always blown away by the lovely views and rural location. It’s peaceful and the walks from the site are beautifully maintained by Odell who is quite rightly so proud of the landscape he has created over the years. There are some lovely pubs to walk to for great food and atmosphere. I can’t recommend this site more highly, we just love it.

Best campsite we have stayed at

We have been camping at Brighthouse for around 12 years. We continue to camp here with our group of lovely friends for many reasons. Firstly the wonderful owners Odell and Ross, who are the loveliest people ever. Then it's the views: endless countryside with fields, hedges, trees and that great view of the church tower peeping above the trees. Stunning walks to several pubs too. We have never liked campsites with that regimented feel and Brighthouse has none of that. Our group is convinced it's magical because we all come home feeling rejuvenated. Can't wait to go back in 10 days time.

What a gem of a campsite! Host was amazing - walked us around the site so we could pick the pitch we wanted. This site is so peaceful and all the pitches are pretty private with trees dotted about. There was electric hook up available all over the place and water taps only ever a few metres away. Toilets and showers were spot on! The site is surrounded by open fields and trees - perfect! Lavenham is a few miles away - beautiful village with cafes, restaurants and amazing architecture - well worth a visit! Ice cream parlour serves most amazing flavours! Again worth a visit. We will definitely be back to stay at this site - was really lovely and exceeded expectations. Compared to other sites, this offers real value for money too!
