Hare and Hounds Campsite makes the perfect base for exploring 1066 Country, Camber Sands beach trips and the lovely Sussex coastline. You'll find dog friendly tent and VW sized campervan / motorhome pitches, glamping bell tents and a shepherd's hut. It's walking distance from Rye and a good pub with an excellent bus service too.

Having never camped before, and not having any camping equipment, thought we would try glamping as a way to ease ourselves in gently. Staying away from home is always apprehensive as you never know if the beds are going to be comfortable or not. The weather was on our side and it was great to cook breakfast and our evening meal outdoors with the gas cooker, pots and pans and crockery provided. The toilets were impeccably clean.

Booked the Hare and Hounds campsite at very short notice as I decided to explore Kent area by motorcycle for a few days. Provisionally booked online but didn't have time to wait for confirmation before setting off. Relieved to see both confirmation text message and email when I arrived! Nice small campsite set over two grassy fields with mature trees on border. Pitches decently spaced so plenty of room for motorbike/car/camper van and tent without feeling crowded. Some pitches had electric hook-up but I didn't need that facility. Welcomed by owner and shown facilities and choice of pitches. Considerately, he even offered me a piece of wood to put under my bike side stand, but I was already prepared with my own. As the first field had mostly camper vans in it, I opted for a nice, reasonably level pitch at the top of the second field. Good firm and well drained, non-stony ground. Being able to park (vehicles) next to tent was something I wanted (not permitted at other sites I had considered in the area). BBQs permitted and available to hire, if wanted. Bathrooms, electric showers, pot wash and recycling/refuse areas were all clean and tidy, located together at the entrance to the site and nicely separated from the camping areas. Good pub that serves food a short walk from the campsite. A short drive from Rye and Dungeness but conveniently located that anywhere in Kent was easily day-trippable. I did a coastal route through Rye, Dungeness, Folkestone, Dover, Deal, Ramsgate, Margate, Whitstable and Isle of Sheppy then back to the campsite across country in a day ride. Favourite part was the quiet twisting roads to, and the area around, Dungeness. All in all a very pleasant stay at a well managed and maintained campsite.

Wonderful campsite. Two large fields with a mixture of electric hook up and pitch only. Nice block of toilets, showers and wash up area, fridge freezer, microwave, phone charger station. Rubbish and waste disposal well signed. All in all a great stay. They have a caravan that sells coffee and croissants on a Sat/Sun morning x

Had a very warm welcome after a bit of a frazzled drive to the site. Given a quick tour, told about the local amenities and before we knew it we were settled in and enjoying an evening meal in the local pub, only a 3 minute walk away! Bell tent was comfortable, well appointed and survived a serious midnight downpour with no leaks. All facilities were very clean and only short queues, even at peak time. Fellow campers were very courteous and friendly with handy tips on what to do in Rye and local area. Bus to Rye couldn't be more convenient and it's walkable too. Would definitely be back.

Good size pitches with access to good facilities. Very friendly owners on our arrival. There's a freezer for your blocks and a fridge to store small items too. Great to wake with a Cockerel and sheep chatting too and because we pitched up by the woods, we heard the woodpeckers, pigeons, and finches and got to meet one of the local robins.

The campsite was really nice and peaceful and the owners were very welcoming when we arrived and showed us where everything was. Only a 15 minute drive from the lovely Winchelsea beach. We would definitely stay here again.

We loved our 6 night stay at Hare & Hounds. We had a relaxing stay with everything we could have needed catered for at the campsite. Clean shower and toilet facilities which were never busy, plenty of washing up space, a fridge, freezer and a microwave which really helped with cooking our meals and storing food. Additionally, they have charging lockers to charge small devices in. This is without a doubt the best campsite we have stayed in and would recommend to anyone looking for a peaceful place to stay just outside of Rye.

Warm welcome by our hostess on arrival. Showing the facilities and taking us to our pitch which was ample space for our tent. Other campers were friendly and as we have a dog he wasn't left out as there was a other dogs on site which he got on with being a sociable dog. Facilities on site were excellent, clean and tidy. Overall we had a lovely time and we will be going back in the near future.

Very warm welcome on arrival and electric pitch was a good size and flat. Good facilities with hot showers and washing up area. Good location for Rye, Winchelsea, Camber Sands and a trip to Dungeness is a must.

Great campsite and facilities, even a microwave. Only downside was the weather lol, not their fault. Would definitely stay again.

We were squeezing in a camping trip between other commitments, so it was great to use the bell tent with almost everything we needed waiting there for us. We all slept really well and enjoyed our weekend in and around Rye. Added bonus of a nice walk down to the town. Friendly campsite with a good set up and facilities. We are already planning to go back.

Stayed here for wo nights, the facilities were great and we were made to feel really welcome. The owners were ever so helpful when we had a tent disaster (massive rip) on the second day due to the wind and lent us a tent for the night. The campsite is conveniently located within walking distance from Rye and also Tillingham Vineyard, which was the main reason for our stay. Overall great campsite, we would recommend.

Nice, quiet campsite with good facilities. Shower cubicles are a little small if you're over 6ft!
