Large A-class or Tag Axle Motorhome - Electric Grass PitchesMay 2025

Beautiful location. Facilities a bit tired. Shower blocks & toilets perfectly functioning but could do with refreshing. Play area for kids. Not many hard stands & no dedicated area to park resulting in so vehicles being too close to each other. Was a full site first night. Hotel near by for meal & drinks & also a food van doing take away breakfasts & meals of an evening. Walks were limited. Nice walk up the hills which joined the great glen way. Along the coast either way only if you walked along main road.

Very friendly, lovely location, would definitely stay again

The location was stunning. Loved the site. We stopped for our first night to begin NC500. The showers could probably do with updating and somewhere to place your belongings. The water was lovely and hot though.

Our campsite stay was excellent. The location was spot-on, and the food van was amazing. The fish and chips were superb and the guy on the van was really friendly. The only thing that could do with upgrading was the shower blocks, but overall, we had a great time.

Small Tent - Non Electric Grass PitchesMay 2025

We had a great one-night stay at the Bunchrew. The location is lovely, it's a nice big site, for us it wasn't not too busy so we felt spread out from others. They have good facilities in terms of quantity and cleanliness, and a burger/coffee van! We particularly appreciated the chilled approach they had - we could pick any plot to pitch up on, so got to drive around and see what suited us best, and there was a relaxed 11am leaving time. We will definitely be back!

Very clean and tidy, showers and toilets clean. We booked in to stay the first night on our trip to do the NC500. We arrived later than planned, it wasn't a problem. We left our details on the board at reception, clear instructions what to do. The onsite snack bar was a hit as we didn't have to cook after our long journey. Thank you to Sam who helped us when we got there. Would highly recommend this campsite. Might even use on the way back.

Motorhome - Electric Grass PitchesApr 2025

There's nothing like a bit of retro in today's high paced, high priced, & high expectations world. Bunchrew is a caravan site from a long gone era. I'm reminded of the old army camp of Cultybraggan, in Perthshire which I last visited in 1976. Both were PoW Camps in WWII. Bunchrew seems to be a stop off site to & from the North of Inverness. There are chalets that are disintegrating, with people still apparently living permanently in them. The gentleman at reception is exactly that, a well mannered gentleman, from the time the site was probably first opened for the tenting & caravan towing families back when I was probably a still a lad! The parking up on a pitch was easy, the gentleman from reception rode down astride his pushbike & waved nonchalantly at a general area, for us to put our motorhome. He then rode off in his woollen pullover & mustard coloured corduroy trousers, back to a waiting customer in the onsite shop. As the day progressed there were many new arrivals. This is where the problems started. The rules for distance between units is 6 metres. Another motorhome pulled in between ours & the motorhome parked on our right hand side. That was the 6 metres fire safety gap gone. It's not as though there was even a view to see. Just a load of other tents & caravans. If they had stayed back on the grass, they would have had the same view but about 7 metres either side of them? Is it herd mentality, & thinking there's safety in numbers? Lord knows! The ablutions are basic. In the male toilets, there's still a percentage of individuals still apparently confused by how the flush system works. The showers are a separate room next to the toilet & operating on a pull chain system, through the most robust Heath Robinson thick galvanised steel articulated arms. It looked severely over engineered. There was many hooks & stays to hang up your clothes. Just as well, as the floor gets wet up to the door. The water pressure was good & water warm enough. My foot kept going into the drain, even though there's a rubber mat to stand on. Overall, it's basic, we paid £31 for one night. It's quiet, even though it was very busy as it got to evening time. The pot wash area has 2 sinks, but only one swivel tap, & no plugs in said sinks. There's a burger van on site, which is open at breakfast time & evenings 7 days a week. Wife had a bap with bacon 🥓 & I had a Lorne & Haggis for our breakfast. They were 4*. Absolutely fresh & delicious. £4- £4.50 depending on your fillings. Highly recommend. The place is just crying out for an upgrade. People have different expectations now. Certainly when you're north of £25 per night. Then again, if you're happy to stay in an old style camping site, you will be in Nirvana..

Nice campsite, but felt facilities were too far apart and need more signage to facilities. Friendly staff. Clean showers, good but old fashioned, but it was a novelty how the shower worked.

Small Tent - Non Electric Grass PitchesApr 2025

Enjoyed my stay. Catering van was good, friendly people, got good hot water in the showers. Nice views to the Firth. My only gripe as a cyclist was getting into Inverness. The A862 is busy but you can get on to the Great Glen Way, more for gravel or mountain bike rather than road bike and you need good climbing legs. I went for Etape and it was absolutely fine though as it starts early and the A862 is quiet then. Not a campsite issue but maybe some better cycling links on that side of Inverness. Would visit again.

VW-Type Campervan - Electric Grass PitchesApr 2025

Beautiful site in a gorgeous location. Perfect for a day in Inverness (hourly bus service outside the site), a trip to Loch Ness or a tour around the Black Isle. We had a very warm welcome from the owner, Simon, and further information and help re a pitch from Fiona. What a lovely lady she is and she keeps the facilities spotless. Yes, they may be a little dated but there's lashings of hot water in the showers and I liked the shower on/off device, quite Heath Robinson-esque but perfectly functional. A big thank you to Simon for the antiseptic spray that helped enormously after my little "trip".

Beautiful location and everything you need. Just a little more dated than some of the other sites we stayed at, but that wouldn’t stop me booking again👍

Very nice site, located next to the Loch. Good location close to Inverness, clean and good facilities and quiet and friendly. Only slight problem was no plugs on any of the sinks in the washing areas. Otherwise we had a very pleasant stay, easy reach of Loch Ness.
