Whether you're exploring the Dales or the Lakes, Little Acre Camping is ideal - only a 15 minute drive from both. Relax in the tent here and take the pooch for a stroll by the peaceful Lancaster Canal (just adjacent to site) or hop on a convenient bus to Kendal or Kirkby Lonsdale (both 15 minutes away). Just across the road, about a five minute walk away is the popular dog friendly Crooklands Hotel, with a bar and very good food served all day.

We had an excellent stay at Little Acres and would recommend the site for anyone wanting to stay within close proximity to the Lakes and the Yorkshire Dales. We were met on arrival by extremely friendly and helpful staff who made us feel welcome and made some local recommendations. The showers and toilet block were modern and exceptionally clean, this is one of the keys things we look for when booking a campsite and it lived up to expectations. We were recommended to eat at The Crooklands Hotel which was only a 5 minute walk - the food was excellent with generous portions and certainly didn’t disappoint. We would definitely book here again.

Great stop-over. Little site with all the facilities you need. The toilet/shower building was modern and neat, although I don't know how regularly they are cleaned as there was quite a lot of dust. An idea for improvement: install a change dispensers full of 20ps for customers to have showers.
Site's response
Hi Melissa. Thank you for staying with us recently and recommending us on Campsites.co.uk. The facility blocks are cleaned 4 or 5 times each day and I agree with you completely - this weekend, for whatever reason was very dusty! Even more surprising, because it was a bit, ahem rainy, a lot of the time. Since the weekend, the dust has disappeared and things are back to normal. We've looked at a 20p change machine, but the cost makes it prohibitive, so for now, the 20p change option is popping in to see me in my office where I've always got plenty of 20p's handy. I hope that you'll stay with us another time to see us dust-free again. Paul.

This was my first time camping on a campsite. I had a really good experience. The weather was a bit annoying but that's out of our control. The owner of the campsite was very nice and polite. The toilets were amazing in terms of location and cleanliness. The other campers there were good people. We had no issues and overall, had a blast!

Nice place, shame the pub doesn't sell food after 4pm on a Sunday.
Site's response
Hi Charmaine Thank you for staying with us over the BH weekend and rating us at 5*'s on campsites.co.uk Paul p.s The pub served meals throughout the BH weekend, but were so busy that they became booked up and weren't able to serve people who arrived without a reservation.

We had a lovely time camping at Little Acre, we stayed on an electric-free pitch with our large tent. The owner was very welcoming and we saw him around the site checking things were all in order and tidying. The facilities were fab and very clean! Would recommend!
Site's response
Hi Amelia. Thank you for staying with us over the bank holiday weekend. We were full over the weekend and keeping everything as nicely as I could kept me busy (my step count was quite impressive to say that I didn't leave the site!) Thank you for the recommendation. Paul.

Location is so handy for the M6 in both directions. You can hear the traffic but it's not bothersome, the site itself is peaceful. Site manager was really friendly and helpful. The facilities were lovely. The toilet / shower block felt luxurious and was very well maintained, as were the grounds. Only 20p for 3 min shower, complimentary toiletries and free hairdryer. Local pub etc in Crooklands which is within walking distance but also additional options in Milnthorpe, only a few minutes away by car. We travel to Scotland from Devon a few times a year and will absolutely stay here again.

Thank you for your recent stay with us at Little Acre, Carolyne. I'm glad that we were "just what you needed" and look forward to hosting you again. Paul

Absolutely fantastic campsite, small and quiet. Good location, very simple to get to places further afield. Toilets and showers were absolutely brilliant, warm and clean. A lovely bakery and pub within walking distance too, absolutely would come again.

Really lovely little campsite with amazing facilities and the loveliest owner. Shower blocks are the best I've ever seen at a campsite, as were the washing up facilities. Very warm welcome to the site, with information about local walks too. Great campsite, would have happily stayed longer.

A lovely little campsite - very close to the motorway and only a 15/20 minute drive from popular parts of the Lake District like Windermere and Kendal. The facilities were very modern and clean and well stocked up with the necessities. It's the first time I've had a limit on my shower (20p for 3mins!) but it certainly made me realise I spend far too long in my one at home! We met Paul upon arrival and he was incredibly cheerful, polite and helpful. We had plenty of space to choose from when pitching our tent. Overall, a fab weekend away!

Fab location and easy to find. Outstanding toilet and shower facilities. Very friendly and helpful owner. We had a fantastic break with our friends and will definitely be back. Only 1 tiny issue was that most of the camping pitches are on a slight slope. However, the owner offered us a choice of pitches on arrival, so it was our own choice. Thanks for a great break.
Site's response
Hi Anthony. Thank you for the lovely review and staying with us recently. The good side of the pitches being on a slight slope, is that the tent field drains very quickly and we never get any issues flooding. Hopefully I'll be able to host you again. Paul.

Excellent site with modern, clean facilities. Site owner very helpful and friendly. It is Cumbria, so the ground is very stony - you will need decent rock pegs and a hammer to pitch a tent!
Site's response
Hi Peter. It was really good to host you recently and I'm glad that you enjoyed your time with us. The good side of the tent field being on a bed of stones is that is drains very, very well and we rarely, if ever have instances of the tent field getting waterlogged. If anyone arrives without a hammer/mallet I've got several onsite to lend out to folk. Thank you for recommending us on Campsites.co.uk, Paul & Sarah.

Lovely site with added touches, shower gel, shampoo and conditioner in the showers. Washing up facilities include washing up liquid too. Very clean, lovely owners! Immaculate and very friendly. Highly recommend and will definitely be back. Crooklands is a pub just across the road, if you want to eat there, I suggest booking a week in advance (which we didn't do) - should have read email provided and followed the link to book. Great little find!

One of the best campsites I’ve visited. The only thing that I didn’t expect, but did get used to it quickly, was the sound of the cars on the main road which was busy throughout the night.

Just got back from Little Acre, site is friendly, clean and well run. Little extras like shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, cotton wool pads and nail files. In the wash up and laundry, you find washing up liquid and washing pods. All I can say is we will be back and will recommend it to tenting and motorhome friends 😁

Fantastic place. The facilities were excellent. Showers and toilets were spotless and clean, there's a pub over the road. The petrol station 2 min away do a fantastic bacon banquet, toasties and pies at reasonable prices. There's a lovely walk down the canal that goes for miles and miles, we will definitely be going back.

Great welcome from the site owner. Lovely scenery, although quite close to a fairly busy road. All of the facilities were spotless and showers were great (20p for 3 mins). Local pub across road was very busy and could not get a food reservation due to its popularity. No issues whatsoever and will return.
Site's response
Hi Stephen, we'd love to have you come back as well ! Yes, the pub is very popular and the food that they do (when you can get a table!) is very good. See you next time, Paul.

What a fabulous site this is. As soon as we arrived, we felt so relaxed. The site is absolutely spotless and the facilities are amazing. Paul was very welcoming and helpful. We visited the pub over the road, which was lovely. Watching a movie by the fire pit after a BBQ was the absolute highlight, and our 2 little doggies just loved being outdoors all weekend. We will definitely be back!

Paul was an extremely helpful and pleasant guy. The canal walks were beautiful and the Crooklands pub food was delish. The site itself was as expected - great showers, pot washing facilities even had washer and dryer! Hairdryer free to use. Showers 20p for 3 mins, more than enough time to wash body and hair. Shampoo, conditioner and shower gel all provided, as is washing up liquid. Lovely, large, green space with electricity hook up if required and fresh cumbrian drinking water on tap along the field! Great site and area we will definitely return - Tracey, Roy and Staffie Halle.
