What a delight this campsite is. This has to be one of the most friendly, clean and well run campsites I have ever stayed at. The showers and toilets are second to none! Will be back and will be telling everyone I know about this.

Site's response

Thank you very much indeed Laura - that's a lovely review of your stay with me. Paul

Large Tent - Electric Grass Tent PitchesJul 2024

This site is perfect for anyone looking to explore the Lake District. The location is excellent, with Bowness 25 minutes away and Kendal just 10 minutes down the road. The facilities are excellent with brand new, regularly cleaned toilet and shower facilities. The staff are extremely helpful and quick to respond to any questions, especially Paul who was always willing to help with any queries. All for a great price.

Site's response

Hello Ethan. Thank you for the lovely review of your recent stay with me. I'm glad that things went so well for you (less so the weather when you were packing up!) Paul.

Medium Tent - Electric Grass Tent PitchesJun 2024

Right from the get-go it was a great experience. The owner greeted us and showed us the facilities and advised a good tent spot. The toilets and showers were amazing, well worth the 20p charge, heated, free shower gel, conditioner, body wash - and it's well maintained. Good location as it's a short drive to the lakes.

Site's response

Thank you for staying with us Anna and rating Little Acre as 5*'s on Campsites.co.uk. It would be lovely to host you again. Paul

Medium Tent - Electric Grass Tent PitchesJun 2024

Lovely little campsite close to M6. Owner is lovely and couldn't be more helpful. The toilet block is built to a high standard and always clean. Don't forget 20p for your shower (3 mins) you can get change from the site office. Pub is 2 minutes walk and serves lovely food. You do need to book in advance though. Lovely walk/cycle along the canal. Close to Lake Windermere and Kendall. Great little pub in next village up which was a 15 minute walk. We went to watch the Scotland v Hungary match and were made to feel very welcome. There's a great baker shop across the road from this pub which is also very good. Milnthorpe is a 10 minute drive, where you can find a small supermarket and lots of options for food take away. We had pizza from Flame and curry from no3. Can recommend both of these places. Took off 1 star for location only due to traffic noise. I used earplugs and managed to sleep.

Site's response

Hi Sally, Thank you for staying with us and recommending us on Campsites.co.uk. I'm glad that you found the Club Inn to watch the football, even if the result wasn't the one that you were hoping for! Paul & Sarah.

Twin Axle Caravan - Electric Hardstanding PitchesJun 2024

Lovely little campsite with excellent and clean facilities. Dog friendly, we have 4 dogs, and great walks from the doorstep. Pub across the road and as some people have said, it's sometimes hard to book a table but they serve meals in the bar, which was empty when we went. Paul and Sarah are the perfect hosts and they are clearly constantly investing in the site. If you take a twin axle, be careful of the turn in and out as it's a bit tight, but fine if you're careful. This will become our "go to" weekend retreat as it's accessible for everything you need and a perfect little gem.

Site's response

Hi Tim, I'm glad that your stay went so well with us and we'd love to host you again. The access is exactly as you described - come through the entrance cautiously in your caravan and all is good. One thing that I've changed for 2024 is that I don't take bookings for 8ft wide caravans, as the extra width of them makes a big difference. It will be lovely to host the 6 of you again. Paul.

Medium Tent - Electric Grass Tent PitchesJun 2024

After a 6 hour drive (taking few stops on my way for my dog) when I arrived, it was raining, and I was not looking forward to pitching my tent in the rain. I bit the bullet and started. Paul, seeing me on my own, immediately came over to help even though he was getting wet himself and between us, we got it up in no time. The camp is outstanding, with electric hook-ups and a few drinking water taps, which means you don't have to walk far from your tent to collect water. The showers are spacious and have great quality shower gel, shampoo and conditioner supplied. They're coin operated, just 20p for 3 mins and I found 40p worth enough time for luxurious shower. The toilets are again, quite spacious and everything is spotless, no matter what time day/night you use them. Also, there is a washing up station, again with washing up liquid provided (handy if you've forgotten yours or run out) and a washing machine and tumble dryer (coin operated). Everything you could ask for. The whole site and owners are impeccable, I cannot fault anything. Next to the camp is a canal where you can have lovely walks with/without your dogs and across the road is the Crooklands Hotel where you can have lovely meals, though you do need to book. All in all, I had an amazing stay and will definitely return.

Site's response

Hi Julie, Except for the soggy weather when you arrived (which wasn't ideal), I'm glad that your break was a success and that you enjoyed yourself so much. For your next visit, I'll try and organise some sunshine to greet you with! Paul.

The wash block was possibly the best we've ever experienced. Looks great, well supplied, clean, close to pitches, never had to wait to use. The couple that welcomed us on arrival and showed us to out pitch were friendly and helpful. Grounds well maintained and ground easy to push in tent pegs. Good location. Recommend booking ahead to get a table in the pub over the road, it was fully booked for us to walk in. Plenty of options to eat in the area.

Site's response

Thank you for leaving such a lovely review of your stay at Little Acre, Nicola. I'm glad that it went well and that you enjoyed your time with us. Paul & Sarah.

Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent PitchesJun 2024

This is our second stay here and it's a lovely place to go and pitch your tent for a few nights. The field itself is kept very clean and tidy, with lots of room for tents and there is another area for campervans and caravans. The shower, washing and toilet facilities are the best we've ever seen and used whilst camping. They are kept very clean, well maintained and updated to modern standards. The owners of the campsite greeted us on arrival and were very helpful and friendly, and could easily locate them throughout our stay, should we have needed them (which we didn't, as everything was great). The location of the campsite is excellent, it is a 5 minute walk away from an excellent pub with generous food portions and ales. It is a 5 minute drive away from the M6 and A590 so excellent links, and you can easily drive to Kendal, Milnthorpe and other areas in short time. The location is the south part of the Lakes, so it is very easy to head down the A590 and access the Lake District from there. Overall, it is an excellent place to spend your time. Great owners, well looked after site, and a convenient location for pubs and a few small towns with good restaurants and pubs.

Site's response

Thank you, James. We really appreciate the review of your recent stay at Little Acre and thank you for rating us as 5*'s. Paul

Large Tent - Electric Grass Tent PitchesMay 2024

Gem of a campsite. Great location - not far from Windermere or Sedbergh. Site does not overcrowd tents into the camping field. We had older children with us - both aged 12. However there were younger children on-site with the motorhomes/caravans. Not sure if the over 12 age limit is strictly for tents only. Fantastic facilities - best we have been to. Clean toilet and shower block. Washing area had three sinks with a washing and tumble drier available to use. Crooklands pub across the road. Lovely canal walk a stone throw away from the campsite. Would recommend this site to family and friends ⭐️

Site's response

Thank you for staying with us and enjoying your time at Little Acre Louise. For the campsite, the youngest age for campers is 12 yo and this has really helped make the campsite much calmer and quieter. Also, we only take single tent bookings, so we don't get small groups around firepits keeping everyone else awake at night! Thank you for recommending us on campsites.co.uk, Paul.

Large Tent - Electric Grass Tent PitchesMay 2024

This is our first time camping as a family of 4 (2 adults and older 2 children). I was very apprehensive about camping - especially as the first night was solo with two girls. I absolutely needn't have worried. The owner reassured us upon arrival and I have never seen someone work so hard to keep things tip top. The facilities were a camping luxury - pristine and new modern powerful rain showers. Clean, and even had underfloor heating. Showers are 20p for 4 minutes, but we were about to get some change if needed. Shower gel, shampoo and conditioner provided if need. The site was lovely and peaceful, and we slept brilliantly. Located ideally 2 minutes walk from a lovely pub and 1 minute away from a stunning big canal walk. We were fortunate enough to be there when 4 cygnets hatched ❤️ On our stay, we visited Ingleton (20 mins away) to the outdoor pool, Devil's Bridge for a paddle in the river, Lancaster (to the Butterfly House and then some retail therapy) and then into Kendal. Little Acres was only 10 mins away from an Asda where we got our supplies. Water and electricity hook up were a must for us (maybe one day we'll get a little braver!). Car parking next to the car made it handy and the sun made an appearance. 4 nights fabulous trip had by all. We'll be back (if you'll have us!). Kirsty and family.

Site's response

Hi Kirsty. Thank you for taking the time to write such a lovely review of your recent stay at Little Acre - you certainly packed a lot in and I'm glad that you all enjoyed yourselves & yes, you'd be very welcome to return. Paul p.s "our" swans hatched another couple of cygnets, to take the total up to 6.

I cannot begin to express how much we loved staying here. Paul, the owner, could not have been lovelier or more hospitable, The facilities were like nothing I've ever seen before and were better than some hotels I've stayed in, and the pitches were clearly very well cared for and looked after. It was a great location for all of the key places in the Lakes and the hotel/restaurant next door was also fantastic when we ate there one night. Cannot recommend this place enough and we will definitely be back ASAP!

Site's response

Thank you Madeline - we try and keep Little Acre looking as nice as we can and I'm glad that you've enjoyed your stay with us. Here's to your next stay. Paul.

Site's response

Hello John, thank you for staying with us over the bank holiday weekend and rating us so highly. It was quite a task keeping on top of everything whilst we were full and I was working like a swan to do so (calm and serene above the surface and paddling like mad where you couldn't see!) - Paul.

Medium Tent - Electric Grass Tent PitchesMay 2024

Campsite was very clean and tidy when we arrived. The campsite was quite empty which was great for us however, having two showers was not really enough for when the site got busy on the bank holiday weekend. Although, they were having work done on another toilet/ shower block so hopefully in the future there will be more to accommodate the amount of guests. The building work being done on the house did take away from the peace and quiet of the lovely location a little bit. But overall, a great stay, campsite staff very friendly and helpful.

Site's response

Hi Terry, thank you for staying with us and recommending us on Campsites.co.uk. About 48 hours after you left we were able to bring additional shower/loo facilities back on line, which helped (sadly not in time for you !) and within the next fortnight, we hope to have even more shower/loo facilities coming online. Once completed, we'll have totally refurbished and modernised the original shower/loo block and then all the water onsite will be heated by solar power. We'd love to have you return to look at the changes. Paul & Sarah.

Just stayed for 2 nights at Little Acre Camping. Absolutely spotless, fab showers and modern toilet block. Nice and quiet location!

Site's response

Thank you for staying with us Anthony and I'm glad that it worked so well for you. For 2024, we only take single tent bookings and the youngest age for campers is now 12 years old - and both things have helped make the campsite a lot quieter. Paul
