Motorhome - Fully Serviced Hardstanding PitchesAug 2024

As a basic tourer and camper site, the washroom facilities are extremely clean and there is even a basic kitchen and lounge room for all to use. But what was not mentioned is that the pitches all back on to a road used by motorbike tours and it is a cut through which vehicles use all night. Even in a motorhome, the noise was loud, even with ear plugs in. The pitches are also under trees, which with wind and peak rain, means that branches and twigs fall on the roof quite regularly, adding to the noise. We cannot fault the facilities, but overall, we wouldn't return due to the proximity to the busy road.

Site's response

Thank you for taking the time to review. We are not a basic site as we have fantastic facilities, sorry we weren't for you.

Twin Axle Caravan - Large Fully Serviced Hardstanding PitchesAug 2024

Lovely cosy site for tourers, room for a twin axle and the awning. Quiet, well presented and lovely, clean facilities. Bit of road noise but nothing that bothered us. Great off-lead area for the dogs. Perfectly positioned for Bakewell, Chatsworth, Buxton, Monsal Dale area. Lovely pub in the village - Church Inn - in walking distance of the site with tarmac footpath all the way there. Will definitely be back.

VW-Type Campervan - Non Electric Hardstanding PitchesAug 2024

We stayed for one night on our first ever adventure in our new camper, just to get to know it a bit! The site is in a lovely and peaceful location, 30 minutes walk to a great pub, The Church Inn in Chelmorton. The toilets and showers are immaculate. We would definitely stay again.

Site's response

Thank you, so glad you enjoyed your first stay in the new camper with us!

VW-Type Campervan - Non Electric Hardstanding PitchesJul 2024

A great stay at Farditch, with lovely views on our pitch (non-electric). There was a lovely sunrise to wake up to. The site was a great base for visiting other places, including Castleton and a hike up Mam tor. Facilities were all clean and the showers were lovely and homely.

VW-Type Campervan - Fully Serviced Hardstanding PitchesJul 2024

This is a lovely site with excellent pitches and fantastic facilities - one of the nicest toilet and shower blocks we have encountered on our travels. Pets are well catered for with an excellent playfield that our dogs loved. Excellent location for trips out to Chatsworth and Bakewell. One major gripe though - and it may be just bad luck - but we had extremely noisy "neighbours" on two of our three night stay who stayed up well past the 11pm silence curfew drinking and laughing (one camper full of males, one of females). This went on until past 01:00 on the first night. Our decision was to cut short our stay on the last night as we couldn't face a third night of partying! There is no onsite supervision and a phone call to sort this out was unanswered. I am sure as stated, this was just bad luck on our part, and prospective campers should not avoid because of my review - just beware that this potentially could happen as there are no on site wardens at night that we were aware of.

Site's response

Thank you for your valuable feedback. Unfortunately, we had some very disrespectful guests who had which is near unheard of on our site. We had been purposely misinformed by these guests as we do not allow large groups of adults or all male/female groups. We have put things in place to prevent these guests from booking again. We are a family site and forbid this type of behaviour, had we have known sooner we would have acted after faster and they would have been asked to leave. We have several means of contacting us in the facilities and will review all aspects of this case to make improvements.

Our first campervan holiday and what a good one. Clean toilets, kitchen stocked with brews and lounge room. The dog field was well kept with fencing and walls. Wooden gate has fencing on it and the grass cut. Dog bin at the gate and around the facility. Definitely going again.

A lovely, well kept site with excellent facilities. I would definitely book again but ask to be sited at the end furthest from the road and the traffic noise, though this wasn't a problem at night.

Single Axle Caravan - Fully Serviced Hardstanding PitchesJul 2024

Very good facilities, well organised site. Complete kitchen with free washing machine, microwave, cooker etc. A very comfy lounge if you were in a small campervan. Site is easily found from main road, but look out for the Farditch Farm site sign just as you turn off to Chelmorton. We missed it , but luckily, we could reverse a short distance with our caravan. An ideal location and site for a short stay. No stars given for service as you don't need any or contact owner via email.

Single Axle Caravan - Fully Serviced Hardstanding PitchesJun 2024

Park was lovely and clean, facilities spotless. A bit disappointed that there no-one to meet when we got there to show us around. Our pitch was close to the main road, so a bit noisy. Dog enclosed garden was fantastic. Would stay again.

Site's response

Thank you for the review, we are on site most days during school hours but do run the site alongside our farm. We send a map and all the information you need beforehand and always contactable.

Great site but note the busy road noise

VW-Type Campervan - Fully Serviced Hardstanding PitchesJun 2024

Let's get the worst bit out of the way which is no reflection on the owners at all but the road noise is not good! The two roads that intercept right outside the site are on the main quarry route and the first lorries started rumbling by at 4.45. It's also a very popular route for motorcyclists so evenings are noisy. The road noise is constant but if you come from a noisy environment, it won't bother you. With regard to the site, it's laid out beautifully, generous pitches and mature planting in between. The main area is tarmac and pitches hard standing. Electric is great and water. Recycling and Wi-Fi very good. The toilet block has a disabled room and then separate ladies and gents - three toilets and two shower cubicles, and basins in each - no privacy cubicles for washing and no hooks by sinks for your towel. The showers are hot and if you push in the eco button over ride you get more water and more heat. There are hooks and use of a chair but in cubicle, two of the hooks are on the wrong side, so you struggle to get your towel round the shower door. The doors also leak a little, so make sure you close them tight. It was warm and very clean which was great. There is a brilliant communal kitchen with a cooker and microwave, free washing machine and clothes horse. There was complimentary coffee and tea to welcome you and two lots of washing up sinks. There is a smashing lounge - two tables to eat and play games do jigsaws on (there is a selection available) and comfy sofas and tv to enjoy on wet days - we used it a lot as we were on site with family. It was warm and relaxing. The surrounding area has great walks and cycle routes - Monsal and Tissington trails are within easy reach. Buxton and Bakewell not far and Tram museum and heights of Abraham were both great.

Very nice location. Good value. Small campervan pitch is really small. We were blocked from a view by our immediate neighbour, but we just moved forward. Everything fine otherwise. Very clean. Thankyou.

Site's response

Thank you for the review. Moving slightly to make the best of the view is fine with us!

Loos and showers perfect, thank you. A nice spot. Wasn't keen on the surface by the van where we parked, a bit rough and difficult to walk on, especially with a broken ankle. Otherwise great.

Single Axle Caravan - Fully Serviced Hardstanding PitchesApr 2024

This is a very quiet, small, well planned 11 pitch site, with some fully serviced super large pitches with very good facilities. There is a very nice toilet block and well fitted lounge and kitchen areas that can be used. It feels a little impersonal, yet very efficient, as everything is done online and there is no one there to meet you when you arrive. Though whilst not a bad thing, it meant that some caravans arrived very early, ie 9.00 am rather than waiting for the 1.00pm time slot, as they can 'sneak' in. No problem, unless they are coming onto your pitch when you leave. It is in a great position with easy access to Buxton, Bakewell, the Tissington Trail and food shopping, with an Aldi 5 minutes away. Only negative is that on the website the directions show that on the way from Ashbourne you should turn right into Upper Blindlow Lane/Pippenwell Road, then left into the Ditch. This route is very narrow, particularly for a caravan, and I would suggest that it is safer and easier to continue on the A515 for a few more miles and turn right onto the A5270 and approach the campsite in that direction.

Site's response

Thank you for your review. Sorry to hear some other guests arrived to early, that is rather unfair of them and does not tend to happen very often. We will keep a monitor on this, we are on site more and more regularly. The directions we provide are as above and advise avoiding Blindlow lane, other than that lane, access is good to the site.
