A very calm and unique place to pitch a tent in the mystical forest. I really love the view of all the tall, imposing mountain and relaxing rivers. Next to the campsite, there were so many beautiful walking trails.
50 miles from home - Fantastic!

Great location. As someone who has spent years at music festivals, the presence of hot showers (without shelling out cash for the privilege) and toilet facilities that made it a pleasure to visit, was an eye opener. All the staff did what they could to make us feel welcome. Great pitches, whether in the woods or main field and easy access to the Marvellous Mawddach Trail. Dog friendly too!

An excellent site, owned and ran by fantastic people. I highly recommend this site , have stayed many times and will years to come. I only use this site for the purpose of hill walking, and out based hiking, please note my dog also stays and has always been made welcome. Would recommend this site without fail.

I went my partner and our 2 sons, one of whom has autism and dislikes busy places and this was his favourite camping trip ever. With a private woodland pitch overlooking fields, all I could hear in the day was birdsong. Great value for money, the facilities were just enough without being too much and kept to a high standard. The people who run it are very helpful and make you feel right at home. When I told the lady my boys were diabetic, she immediately said we could keep their insulin in their fridge. Just an hour away from Mount Snowdon and 15 mins from bars and restaurants, it's a great location. Quiet time after 11pm and raised BBQ/fire pits allowed and you can even rent one. Will definitely be back.

We had a warm and helpful welcome from Alex and loved our stay. Our van pitch was a perfect size with a lovely view - fantastic weather helped. 6 mile walk to Barmouth down the estuary and 2 mile walk to the pub up it from the site. Take your pick! Due to the time of year, the site was quiet and food shack hadn't opened, but facilities were fine otherwise.

Stopped here last year. Easy to get onto Mawddach trail from campsite and or walk through local woodland areas. Toilets a bit cramped but sufficient. Showers hot & powerful, plenty. Freezer & charging point. Would stop again.

Firstly, as a returning guest to Cefn Coed, I was gutted to find out that the Thai menu was no longer available.... it was so nice and such an unusual feature, possibly the best way to end a day's hillwalking ever. Anyway, with the bad news out of the way, my second visit just reconfirmed what a cracking site this is. Every aspect from the owners to the location to the facilities are great. Will definitely become an annual event.

I'm reluctant to leave a five star review - not because they don't deserve it but because we fell in love with the site, and don't want anyone else to go! It's quiet from about 10:30 pm and all you can hear is nature. It's dark and we all got the best nights' sleep in months! For wild camping in the woods, the toilet block is 5 star. Hot showers with pressure, clean toilets. The bar is a nice touch too. So much more than I was expecting for wild camping This is not the campsite for groups of friends for a weekend away. You must be prepared to walk up a hill in the dark to get to the facilities at night - did I mention the site is on a hill? And be prepared to take all your stuff via wheelbarrow if you want a woodland pitch. We were incredibly spoilt with the views and even caught the stars one clear night. So good for a break away from civilization - we didn't want to leave (so we tagged two more nights on the end!). Plenty of walks for the dog - even he was shattered every night! Thank you to Adrian, Alex and everyone else for such a wonderful stay! We shall return next year (we're already planning it!)

It's a very beautiful campsite. Great views, fabulous walks, facilities are clean but unisex, walking a distance for water. Field could do with a water place, hence reason for 4 stars. As for customer service, it took over 20 minutes before someone actually turned up to show me where to pitch my tent, even though the owners were there. Was simply asked to sit and wait, although it was getting dark, hence a generous 4 stars. But we were happy, my precious son loved the wild walks, rivers and the beautiful mountains. The horses were very friendly and such a joy. Thank you.

Cefn Coed is totally off the grid and 110% well worth everything. The family and staff there upon arrival are very welcoming helpful and happy. Such a high spirited peaceful campsite. Me and my son were totally off-grid for 3 nights. Our pitch totally hid away in the bushes and trees was mind blowing and priceless. Of an evening, there's the bar with local ales and cocktails, more so if you don't fancy cooking and want to treat yourself, they offer fresh pizza and charcuterie boards. Both are delicious. I can't thank you enough for the weekend we had…thank you.
An absolute must!

First time camping and I must say, wow! We had an amazing experience with our children and would definitely go back! The camp is so central to beautiful, majestic mountains, forests and lakes etc. A very family oriented site with views to make you gasp and forget your are in the UK. Adrian, the camp manager is so cool, friendly and very helpful. We stayed in the 'woodlands' which has camp spots well spaced out and private. The facilities were quite impressive and spotless. People said 'hello' and smiled at you- so unlike the 'English🤣🤣'. We have truly fallen in love with Wales and her people.

My stay was thoroughly enjoyed the kids enjoyed it too, the woodland setting was definitely biggest factor of our time there and surrounding rivers and walks, would definitely come again. Thank you for our wonderful experience 🙂

Confusing place. Location was ideal. The site is multi-level with the toilet block at the top of a hill. The main camping field is at the bottom and it's quite a track, especially in the middle of the night in the rain. The road sign says wild camping. The showers constantly ran out of water as did the washing up area. 20 mins was the longest I stood covered in soap with no water to wash it off, unimpressed! The grass in the fields hadn't been mown for some time leaving it very un-even. None of the field was flat. That said the owners were super friendly and welcoming, and the Thai food and bar were very welcome. Having paid as much as we did, we had expected a lot more!

Basic facilities but completely as advertised, so no disappointment here. Small shop on site that was open all day and had everything you may need at a pinch. Fire pits to rent were a great bonus and there were lots of wheelbarrows to cart heavy things and water down to the camp. Bar on site with friendly staff and a little cheaper than a pub. Thai food van which we didn't eat from as thought it was too expensive, but to be fair, we didn't see the size of the portions. If you want pizza on a Friday or Saturday, be sure to order early to avoid disappointment as they ran out the first night and only had slots too late for our daughter the second night. Be sure to explore the field plots before settling in - we didn't and were totally happy with where we ended up, but didn't realise there was so much choice and may not have ended up on the largest field, had we known! They could do with more freezer space for ice blocks or a way of policing the contents - there were items in there all week taking up space. These are only minor points - this is a beautiful spot from which to explore a beautiful part of the world with everything you need and helpful staff.

Really enjoyed my stay here. Stayed in one of the small pitches in the woods and it was gorgeous. The Thai food cooked on site is better than many a Thai restaurant I've been to! Shower/toilet rooms are pretty decent, but I fear may get a bit overwhelmed if the site was super busy.

Beautiful 'almost wild' campsite in a stunning location. We paid extra for a woodland pitch, which was secluded and had a wonderful view. The staff are friendly and the facilities are clean enough, but not luxurious by any stretch. I accept that there is a trade off for a wild experience and luxurious facilities, so this was to be expected. I could see that the staff were working to improve the place. The price is quite high compared to other campsites, especially with the £12 greener camping membership. I hope that if the site becomes more popular the prices would come down, but I don't expect this as you're paying to not stay in a generic campsite. It's the perfect place to go if you want a more wild experience, but still want the amenities of showers, toilets, a freezer, charging points and small shop. There is also an on-site hut providing delicious Thai food, which is very welcome when you can't cook. There is also a bar, which wasn't open when we visited, but would've been used if it had. The site has a small path which leads to the Afon estuary. This has a disused railway line path linking Dollgelleau and Barmouth in a couple of hours walk. 10/10 would recommend and we will be coming back.

A fantastic little get away, the owners were wonderful, helpful people. Lovely little spots to park your campervan under the canopy of woodland. Shower block and small shop near the owners home and a little kitchen where the owner cooks authentic, mouth watering Thai food. A little gem of a place. We will be using it a lot all year round and would highly recommend Cefn Coed to anybody wanting to get away for an off grid experience.
