Lovely site, fab location, helpful staff
Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent Pitches Jul 2026 The location of this site is fab, it's clean, well organised and I really enjoyed my stay.
I did have a small issue with a group of youngsters up all night, very loud, but spoke to the site staff and they were brilliant at dealing with it for me.
Weekend away
Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent Pitches Jul 2026 Sites most impressive feature is its view. ,just stunning scenery. Camping with your boys the shop selling ice creams and things I’d forgotten was really handy. We didn’t eat at the restaurant but the bar was well stocked and friendly staff. We would definitely camp here again.

Small Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent Pitches Jul 2026 Excellent campsite in a beautiful, peaceful setting, with plenty of walks for different abilities from the campsite.
With a good shop of camping essentials and freezer to use for your ice packs.
Friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff gave me some great ideas on where to go walking and wild swimming from the campsite or close by.
One girl gave me some helpful tips on how to create a route on my OS map app, shame I didn't get her name. I enjoyed tasty and nutritious meals both nights at the Brotherswater Inn on site, loved the half portion sizes as it was a hot weekend I couldn't face a full portion. Also lovely rose wine and good selection of other drinks too.
Great showers and toilet block, I didn't use the washing up area but it looked very spacious and clean.
I will definitely be back to camp and eat at the Inn 😊

This place has stolen my heart.

So many hiking opprtunities locally.
Facilities were generally clean and staff were friendly and helpful.
Wonderful place
Small Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent Pitches Jun 2026 Wonderful campsite not far from Ambleside. Close to a lot of great hikes but a little remote if you're wanting to venture out. It does have a on site pub, which was superb, and the shop in reception covers just about anything you need.
Campsite was organised well and good value for money. Rules are chill. Only real downside is the showers and toilets were a little on the muddier side but was ok regardless.
Overall, would recommend.

Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent Pitches Jun 2026 Absolutely fantastic camp site, brilliant facilities on side, a pub for food and drink which we didn’t end up using, a shop, clean hot showers, plenty of toilets, pot washing and laundry facilities. Lovely quiet relaxing camp site with stunning 360 views of the hills and mountains. Beautiful stream not too far and a great location for visiting other lakes. Sheep on site were cute and added ambience to the sounds of nature whilst sleeping and relaxing in our tent. Well sign posted and friendly staff members. Would definitely stay again and have already recommended to everyone I know. Thank you Sykeside!

Good site, but busy and quite strict
Large Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent Pitches May 2026 Location is good for walking, like Hellvelyn and similar mountains nearby, however, not the best for pubs or restaurants.
Only one within walking distance is Kirkstone Inn pass which is very busy, anything else is 2+ hour walk or drive it. Site had good facilities, though the ground waterlogged easily and the site is pretty strict about quiet time. As in, all fires are to be out and if not, they come round and pour water on them.

Cannot believe how much is available; pub, shop with coffee machine, clean and well maintained toilets and showers. The site itself is well kept and really welcoming. Will definitely be returning again this year.

Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent Pitches Apr 2026 Was a lovely stay, can walk onto Brother's Water from the pitches. Lovely well stocked shop! Easy to find.
Staff very helpful. Loos and showers was good. Not amazing but very good for a campsite! And great pot washing and clothes washing area. Really good with the dog, especially with their own little area to wander around in.
Only complaint would be ground where we was pitching was quite rocky, so made it a bit difficult to pitch up but completely out of their control! Would definitely stay again!

Beautiful rolling-hills, all the facilities were clean and in fabulous condition. Everybody who worked on site were exceptionally friendly and helpful.
This is definitely value for money, and will return again.

Worth the money spent
Small Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent Pitches Dec 2025 Pitch itself was clean, nicely mowed and very flat to sleep on. Campsite had nice hot showers, clean toilets and access to washing and drying machines.
A choice to order breakfast baps in the morning, which were delicious as well, as a small on site shop for necessities. The Campsite is located approximately 20mins away from Ambleside for a bite to eat and an afternoon of shopping and approximately 11mins away from the car park to start the climb up Helvellyn via striding edge route.
Reception was nice and friendly, simple quick and easy way to book on, and they are always willing to help where necessary. A lot of car parking space and the freedom to pitch wherever you want allows you to move away from other campers on site. Definitely worth the money spent however wouldn't pay anymore.
A bit difficult to find after there had been a landslide blocking the main road to the campsite, so we had to divert, however that was just unlucky timing. Also coming from Ambleside the turning into the campsite was very very sharp and scratched my car. Would recommend taking a 2 point turn or taking it very very wide when the road is clear from oncoming traffic.
