Clear filters Bank Holiday Weekend at Birchbank Recommends site
Large Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Aug 2022 A fantastic weekend and a great campsite. Value for money and facilities are excellent.
Beautiful Recommends site
Medium Tent - Electric Grass Pitches Aug 2022 People couldn't be more helpful. Beautiful surroundings, facilities were very clean and maintained well. Very busy and popular when speaking to other campers.
Great Recommends site
VW-Type Campervan - Non Electric Grass Pitches Aug 2022 Fab location. Simple, clean facilities.
Lovely stay Recommends site
Medium Tent - Electric Grass Pitches Aug 2022 Lovely site and people. Little hard to push in tent pegs as ground is very stoney underneath soil.
Amazing and beautiful scenery Recommends site
Large Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Aug 2022 Birchbank was a quaint little farm, way up in the hills away from any noise. It was a quiet, peaceful little getaway, perfect for our family to relax and enjoy nature. There are all the facilities you need including pot washing, fridges, showers, water tap and even a little stream running though the middle for the kids to play in.
A lovely little farm Recommends site
Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Aug 2022 Birchbank is a lovely little farm, secluded on the fells near Ulverston and Coniston. Local amenities are a short drive away, but not difficult to navigate if single track roads don't bother you.
Facilities were basic but clean and in good working order. The campsite is small and quiet, ideal for families and backpackers. Staff were friendly and welcoming.
Peace and quiet Recommends site
Small Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Aug 2022 Very good location, everything clean, no problems at all! :)
Stunning scenery Recommends site
Large Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Aug 2022 Stunning scenery, clean and tidy pitches and good facilities, including laundry area with freezer, showers and toilets. Well off the beaten track but perfect for a quiet getaway within 20-30 minutes of Coniston and Windermere. The only slight downside was the cows who loved having conversations with each other in the middle of the night!
Highly recommend this site though.
Glorious location at the top of the world Recommends site
Medium Tent - Electric Grass Pitches Aug 2022 This farmyard campsite was a great find. The views are glorious, you’re amongst the clouds, and getting to watch the collie at work herding the sheep was a real treat. Even watching the peaks vanish in a rain storm was rather wonderful, safe inside the tent with a cup of tea.
It’s rare to find such a gorgeous natural location with an electric hookup for tents and decent showers etc.
Facilities are basic but just what you need, lovely walks and bike ride in the area. A great base for exploring the lakes.
What a view Recommends site
Large Tent - Electric Grass Pitches Aug 2022 First thing is the views. The Lake District is beautiful and I have never been to a campsite with such nice views outside of your tent. We were part of a large group, and had the majority of the central area which was brilliant as we were able to set up how we wanted, all around one gazebo.
It is worth noting this is a working sheep farm and animal noises should be expected throughout the night.
The facilities were ok. I have been on other campsites when cleaning is carried out at regular times. However, I believe due to it being part of a working farm, cleaning is carried out when required. I noticed as the campsite got busy, soap and paper towels started to empty a lot more quickly.
The facilities were ok, shared showers and toilets. These could do with additional hooks and shelves as well as stools for children so they can use the soap etc unattended.
The campsite was great and I would recommend.
Site's response
The facilities are cleaned twice every day and more often if required.
Absolutely beautiful campsite Recommends site
Small Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Aug 2022 Very pleasant weekend. Will definitely be returning as the campsite is clean, picturesque and peaceful.
We loved our weekend here.
Lovely peaceful location Recommends site
VW-Type Campervan - Electric Grass Pitches Aug 2022 We loved Birchbank farm. It's was in the middle of nowhere, which we loved. Lots of nice walks. Horses sheep and cows all roaming near the camp site.
Only a 40 min drive into Windermere and other places.
Lovely farm site Recommends site
Large Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Aug 2022 Peaceful location, spectacular setting. Clean facilities, well cared for site, great spacing of tents in non-electric field.
Owners friendly and welcoming, will definitely return for another stay.
Lovely site Recommends site
Large Tent - Electric Grass Pitches Aug 2022 Lovely remote farm. If you're after peace and quiet, then this is the ideal place.
Access road is not for the faint hearted though
Lovely site with friendly and helpful hosts Recommends site
Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Aug 2022 Toilet and shower facilities very clean.. water nice and hot. Very picturesque valley. Wonderful sunrise!
Great site - feels pleasantly remote Recommends site
Large Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Aug 2022 Lovely site, great location and easy to find - relatively basic, but in a charming and remote way not a Bear Grylls way.
The camping areas could do with pitches being marked out to make it easier to pitch and find space, but it really is a lovely spot. The owners were lovely and very chatty and helpful.
Nice place in quiet, remote location Recommends site
Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Jul 2022 Nice place in quiet, remote location with beautiful sunsets just a short walk away. This farm provides clean facilities: showers/toilets, wash up point and fridge.
I liked watching mornings and evenings on the farm, listening to the cows, sheep and other creatures making plenty of communication between themselves and reacting joyfully to the farmer's arrival (feeding time).
It was nice change for somebody living in the town on a quite densely packed street.
Lovely location Recommends site
Large Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Jul 2022 Great few days. Appreciated the no noise after 10 pm rule. Very relaxing time in lovely surroundings.
Really good campsite Recommends site
Small Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Jul 2022 It was our first time camping and we had a lovely time
Brilliant Recommends site
Large Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Jul 2022 It was a lovely place but I would say that it is a working farm, which for some stupid reason I didn't expect. But it was fantastic, peaceful and plenty of great walks and places to go
Great quiet isolated site - peaceful Recommends site
Large Tent - Electric Grass Pitches Jul 2022 This site is excellent if you want a quiet campsite. Located in the middle of farmland it's away from everywhere. Site owners are welcoming and get you sorted out quickly and onto the pitches. Toilets and showers are basic (what you'd expect at a remote farm campsite) but clean and functioning. 3 toilets, 3 showers, washing up sink and fridge/freezer there. We had an electric pitch and all was perfect for our stay.
Highly recommend for quiet. One point, if you expect phone signal, forget it! I believe only one network works and that's low signal but for us that was great, a rest away from phones and technology!
Perfect chill out Recommends site
Large Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Jul 2022 Perfect for resetting the batteries.
A lot of walking/cycling routes around the site.Close to the shops(Ulverstone) few attractions with 30minutes drive from the site.
