About the site

Offering guests the chance to switch off and reconnect with nature and loved ones. This almost wild camping site is set amongst a sheltered orchard in a scenic Dorset village, away from the noise of crowds and busy towns. The site offers a total of 32 non electric grass pitches, each dotted amongst small fruit trees, ideal for shade in the summer. Each of the tent pitches measures a spacious 13m x 8m, accommodating up to six guests, whilst the touring pitch welcomes those in campervans, measuring 13m x 9m and allowing up to eight. The rural location means the surrounding wildlife is also thriving, so keep an eye out for birdlife, bees and any animals looking to treat themselves to an apple or two. Be sure to also take the short five minute walk to the nearest pub, the perfect place to find out recommendations from the locals. Evenings can also be spent cooking up a BBQ, but ground fires are prohibited. Four-legged friends are also welcome to join you for your stay.

This site is open for the Easter, May bank holidays, and the summer holidays. Pitches from £15/night for 2 people.

The campsite is in a great location, within the village of Trent with a great local pub and fantastic walks from the campsite. The two portaloos were clean as I suspect these are on a contract rental clean. Unfortunately, the sink and worktops were not. Not sure when pictures were taken, but the orchard needed a day's work of a farmer with a mower to cut the very high grass & weeds, and re-erect the blown over apple trees. It was so overgrown that only a few pitches could be found! Also, if the boundary hedge was cut, there would be great views west, across the valley. This campsite would be transformed if this work was done!

Motorhome - Non Electric Grass Touring PitchAug 2025

We absolutely loved the campsite it is essentially a cider apple orchard field with compost toilets and drinking water and a great place to observe nature. If you are looking for peace and quiet and a relaxing stay, this is a great way to escape. The hosts are lovely and come to see us in the morning in our campervan. It is a real free and easy apporach. There are loads of wildlife to see including bats which fly around the orchard at night. Some of the trees had fallen over in a previous storm which the hosts were sorting out which we would love to help with my other half being an arborist! But this didn't distract from a great peaceful top stay in the wild next to a really pretty village.

Small Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent PitchesAug 2025

My too short stay at Monarch's Way was so great, I would definitely come back anytime. In brief: great welcome message from Jeremy who I could meet in person and have a nice discussion about the place and apple trees. You have everything you could expect from true, natural camping. A great site, kind of up on the hill, so means it could be windy but you enjoy late sun and a great view. The equipment fully respects the place, beautiful church and best local dining pub just nearby, public path crossing the site. The only thing I missed (maybe an improvement?) is a shower, even small solar heated tap in a closet would be perfect. This was my last day in England and the best conclusion to my round hiking trip. Loved the place.

This is the perfect location for access to wonderful walking routes. The 625 mile Monarch Way footpath is just next door, with plenty of other routes out into the countryside or down county lanes.

The Lazy Barn, a five minute walk awayu is a local wellness centre with massage, gong bath and yoga.

For aviation enthusiasts, the Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm Museum is a 15 minute drive away. See one of the largest collections of Naval aircraft, try the Aircraft Carrier Experience and learn about the fascinating history of Search and Rescue missions.
