About the site

This welcoming, family run touring park takes its name from the renovated Grade II listed barn onsite, adding a lovely touch of history to your stay. With open downland views and a peaceful setting, it's a great base for exploring the Isle of Wight. There are 27 speacious grass pitches, each measuring 8m by 7m, with 16 amp electric hook ups for tents, roof tents and touring units. The historic barn also houses a games room with pool, air hockey and table tennis, providing entertainment whatever the weather! Shanklin is a five minute drive away, with sandy beaches, a picturesque Old Village and a tempting choice of pubs, cafes and restaurants. Sandown, ten minutes away, offers more seaside fun, while local footpaths are ideal for exploring the countryside with your four-legged companion. Dogs are welcome to join, and the site can help arrange return ferries from the mainland to make planning your island escape a little bit easier.

Old Barn Touring Park is open from 01/03 to 31/10 in 2026 and 2027. Pitches from £15-£29.50/night for 2 people (depending on dates).

"We had a bush separating us from others and it was lovely to have that bit of privacy!"

Large Tent - Electric Grass PitchesAug 2026

On first impressions, this site is quite dated but don't let first impressions fool you. It was impeccably clean, no queuing for showers or washing up. Being so close to Sandown & Shanklin, it was a winner with the younger members of our party (10 & 12). It was the perfect place to enjoy this perfect summer weather. We will definitely be back.

Great place to stay!

Large Tent - Electric Grass PitchesJul 2026

Great basic campsite! Very reasonable price for a large pitch with basic facilities and electric hook up, in a fabulous location. Staff are very helpful and friendly, access to toilets, showers, drinking water, recycling facilities, and a barn with buckets and spades that can be borrowed (as well as books and games), in a location less than 2miles from either Sandown or Shanklin beach. Two supermarkets are located less than 5min drive, one which offers a very reasonably priced cooked breakfast, the other the ingredients for a reasonably priced cooked breakfast, should you prefer to get the camping stove out… Would highly recommend!

What's nearby

Sandown Bay is just under three miles away and you'll enjoy miles of stunning coastal views along the coastal path too.

Nature lovers can enjoy ambling along the nature trails at Shanklin Chine whilst spotting an abundance of wildlife or why not wander the walled garden and woodlands surrounding Osborne House - formerly the holiday home of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert!

Other nearby attractions include:

  • Dinosaur Isle (2.8 miles) - kids can enjoy the interactive robotic dinosaur displays and quizzes on a tour of an impressive collection of fossils found on the island.
  • Isle of Wight Zoo (3 miles) - animal experiences include feeding lions and tigers and there's a chance to say hello to lemurs, monkeys and more.

A note from the site themselves...

We are very proud winners of the Professor David Bellamy Gold Conservation Award. This is only granted to parks which have demonstrated a sound commitment to the natural world.

It is described as the "Green Olympics" - and goes only to parks which help protect and enhance the natural environment. We are particularly proud that his decision to make this award was based partly on the opinions of our holidaymakers. It was their comments about our park which helped to convince Professor Bellamy that Old Barn Touring was deserving of this conservation honour.

We hope you get to join us soon and see all our amazing efforts for yourself, Emma
