This campsite exceeded my expectations. Easy to find from the motorway; we were made to feel very welcome on arrival, as were the dogs! And the facilities were the best we have had on a campsite. Just remember to have your 20p coins ready for the shower which you can get from the campsite reception.

This was our first overnight with a camper van and both the location and facilities were excellent for us. We arrived after closing time but had clear email directions on how to find the site and our pitch. The toilet and shower facilities were spotless and in great shape. Need a 20p coin for a shower. The nearby canal towpath was a lovely, quiet route for a walk or run. Overall very happy with our stay and would go back.

This is the most peaceful site ever! Yes, it's in the middle of nowhere but it's beautiful and tranquil, there's a lovely dog walk by the canal, a pub across the road, what more do you need! Paul was very welcoming and keeps the site in perfect condition.

Great little site with really good, clean facilities. The site manager was very friendly, and the Crooklands Hotel was very close for a pleasant drink. Had a great 6k run along the canal in the morning, a really beautiful setting, turn left on joining and it's about 3k on the towpath to the end, then run back again!
Site's response
Hello Simon Thank you for staying with us recently and leaving such a lovely review on campsites.co.uk. Since the canal towpath was renovated to a proper hard surfaced area, there are a lot more people enjoying a run, jog or stroll along its length. Paul

A gorgeous site with excellent facilities. Lovely and peaceful, right opposite the canal and a super pub 2 mins walk across the bridge. Wi-Fi signal is good and easy access to all facilities. Toilets and shower have lovely touches such as flowers, diffusers, hair dryers, shower ge,l shampoo, cotton balls etc. Nice little homely feel.

Hi Paul, thank you for choosing us for your recent short stay. For an info point, we do have a large leaflet display of things to do in the area in the laundry and washing up room for folk to look at and take with them. Paul

Excellent site and great owner very helpful. Do not be put off by the 20p showers for 3 mins, they are great showers, much better than the annoying push ones.

Stopover en route south from Scotland

We stopped here on the way south after being in Scotland. It's very convenient from the M6 but far enough away so that motorway noise is minimal. Some of the hard standing pitches are quite sloping and really need re-levelling but overall, the site is good. Shower block excellent and a great pub/restaurant opposite. Nice walks or cycle ride along the adjacent canal.
Site's response
Hi Gerry Thank you for choosing us for your recent 1 night stopover. Yes, some of the pitches have a very gentle slope on them and for those pitches I leave levelling ramps, so that people can get themselves "just right". The vast majority of pitches have no need for chocks or ramps as they are as flat as flat. Enjoy your travels. Paul

All in all a nice site and well run, the warden was great. There's a nice hotel for food and drinks a short walk away, but not much else. You would need transport for getting out and about, nice spot next to Lancaster canal, visited Kendal and Windermere and really enjoyed it.
Site's response
Hi Doug Thank you for staying with us recently and recommending Little Acre on Campsites.co.uk. With everyone coming to me already having their own transport (campervan, motorhome, caravan tow car etc), people are easily able to get around and about, usually to the Lake District or Yorkshire Dales that are both 20 mins from me. For the folk who want to give driving a break, there is a bus service that operates 200 yards from the site. Enjoy your travels and hopefully I'll be able to host you again. Paul

We picked Little Acre for its close location to M6 junction 36 as a stopover enroute to Scotland. Not only was it very convenient, it was a perfect spot, next to a beautiful canal with a pub across the road. The facilities were great, clean, smelled lovely with little extra thoughtful toiletries included. A level gravel pitch with electric & water, the Elsan & grey water point was clean. Really friendly host who was so helpful too. Thank you, we will definitely return & recommend to others!
Site's response
