Howgill Lodge is located close to Bolton Abbey in Wharfedale, offering hardstanding pitches for caravans and motorhomes and grass pitches for tents. The site is terraced to give spacious, level pitches with lovely views across the valley. Set in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, on the Duke of Devonshire's Chatsworth Estate, Howgill Lodge is surrounded by some of the most beautiful countryside in the UK.

Views are lovely across the valley, plenty of wildlife and lovely walks in the area. Second visit to the site and it has improved with a new shower block on the terracing. Note for the owners - Pitch 17 is not great at all so I would recommend you not putting anyone on it and remove it from a potential camping pitch. There are no views, it felt quite claustrophobic with the large trees and bushes surrounding it and has the toilet block the other side. Not a pitch I was happy to have originally assigned to me, or other fellow campers who also asked to move pitch from it. Other than that initial setback, we had a great 4 night stay with you and would recommend the site to plenty of others wanting a quiet, relaxing camping trip. Thank you.

We had the most wonderful view, in daytime the lovely hills and by night we were lucky to watch a meteor shower. But the most wonderful thing was that the site was very quiet after 10.30, everyone there respecting their surroundings and this was very refreshing. The staff was very helpful and we really enjoyed having a camp fire. We will definitely be returning.

Hardstanding pitches were good at the top, quite tight for caravans further down but lots of happy campervans. Alpacas and bunnies in field but no dog walks on site and lots of flies. Very well maintained and clean and the pastries and barista coffees were great each morning.

One of the best sites I've stayed at in England. Fabulous views and generous sized pitches - not like the often 'cramped in like sardines' experiences of many sites. Lovely and quiet too. I'd definitely recommend a visit.

First time camping with our dog, a Hungarian Vizsla, and it worked really well. Howgill campsite was very impressive from location to facilities and very friendly, helpful staff. The pitches are well positioned and even without electric hookup, we coped with the heatwave with the provided fridges and freezers. The Campsite has a lovely atmosphere, with a different range of campers with families and couples sharing the peaceful location.

This is a remote campsite but you can walk to Appletreewick which has a pub - book in advance as really busy! The campsite is set out in smaller areas so quiet and a bit private. Facilities are great and very clean. Shop opens for set hours and offers fresh coffee and pastries between 0730-0930 each day. Would recommend to anyone who likes to have beautiful views and nice walks.

Excellent site, friendly and clean. Set out so all sections feel small even though on a large site

Lovely site with friendly staff and in general, good facilities. Two things that might help future guests: 1) Improve the directional signage from the road... 2) Some of the showers are a bit on the dribbly side!
A good site in a great location

We enjoyed our stay at Howgill Lodge even though it was only short - we wished it had been longer! The facilities are looked after well. The pitches are terraced and ours was one of the higher ones which gave a superb view across the valley although of course, that meant we got more of the wind too! The site is well placed for walking in the area and the river walk is beautiful. We walked along the river to Appletreewick and had a good meal in The Craven Arms, which was better than the average pub. All in all, this is a good site in a beautiful part of the Dales.
