About the site
Whether you're seeking a traditional camping escape or a rustic glamping experience, there's something for all tastes at this nature oasis in the heart of the Cambridgeshire Fens, just ten minutes from Ely, the second smallest city in the UK. Unwind in peaceful meadows, reconnect with nature, enjoy dark starry skies, and explore riverside trails straight from the site. The site offers 20 non electric grass pitches measuring 12m x 9m, set among tussocky grasses, each with a fire pit and solar light, suitable for tents only. There are also ten unallocated wild camping grass pitches, offering views of Ely Cathedral and private campfires, and are suitable for tents, trailer tents, roof tents, caravans, campervans and motorhomes. If you require electric, there are ten electric grass pitches measuring 10m x 10m with a 16-amp electric hook-up, suitable for tents, trailer tents, caravans and motorhomes. Each pitch is grassy, spacious and individually named. Cars can only be parked next to electric grass pitches, for others, cars need to be in the car park. Glampers are also spoiled for choice, with three timber glamping units. Magog Timber Tent and Little Trees Timber Tent sleep four and are furnished with one double bed and two single beds, plus a kitchenette with a mini oven, two-ring hob, fridge, saucepans and cutlery, along with a log burner. Wandlebury Timber Tent sleeps five and includes an additional sofa bed. Better suited for a romantic getaway, the glamping cabin sleeps two in a king-size double bed and features a kitchenette, ensuite bathroom and log burner. This unit is also dog friendly, though dogs must not go on the bed. A dog bed and bowl are provided. Guests can order special breakfast hampers, champagne, flowers and chocolates, too. All bedding and a welcome pack are included for the timber tents and cabin, featuring freshly ground coffee, fair-trade tea and organic milk. A complimentary bag of wood is provided, with additional available to purchase onsite. Guests will also find a camping bothy, sleeping four with four single bed frames, a log burner, a table and chairs. Please ensure you bring all camping equipment except the tent. The owners have worked hard to create a site that celebrates the surrounding wildlife. The natural environment has been carefully enhanced, transforming a plain field into one filled with tussocky grasses, wildflowers, trees and hedges that provide both privacy for guests and habitats for wildlife. Environmental protection is a major focus, with facilities powered by renewable energy, recycling points and eco-friendly products used throughout. The site is also a member of the Ely Nature Friendly Farming Zone, working to create and connect wildlife habitats to increase biodiversity. With higgledy paths connecting pitches across the Meadow, open spaces for ball games and direct access to the River Ouse, there's plenty to enjoy onsite. You're also well placed for exploring nearby cities, towns and cultural attractions, including Cambridge, just half an hour away and Suffolk's Newmarket. Dogs are welcome, but you must use compostable dog bags and put them in the composting bin. Campfires are permitted in the fire pits provided.
Camping, touring and Timber tents are open from April to end of October. All other glamping is open from February until end of the year. Pitches from £18/night for 2 people.
