About the site

Enjoy a restful stay at this remote, family friendly site, enjoy a peaceful stroll with your pooch around the surrounding countryside or head to Kielder Forest for a more thrilling day out with watersports, high ropes and zip wires! For tent campers there are 50 grass pitches, each measuring a spacious 11m x 11m. 26 of these are non electric and suitable for tents only, the others have a 10 amp electric hook up and allow trailer tents too. Some grass pitches are left slightly more wild if you're wanting a more back to basics feel. If you're in a tourer there are six electric hardstanding pitches which measure 3m x 7m with a 10 amp electric hook up and chemical disposal points. These pitches are suitable for trailer campervans, caravans and motorhomes. You'll be surrounded by picturesque countryside walks great for a family stroll or for exercising your canine companion, the historic town of Bellingham is also only five minutes by car with a range of shops, restaurants and cafes. The Pennine Way also runs through the town which makes this site a great stop off for walkers and cyclists. There is also no need to worry about what's on the evening menu as there is a bar/restaurant onsite that serves freshly made food from local produce as well as a range of drinks including draught beer. There is indoor or outdoor seating at the bar so you can enjoy your meals al fresco when the sun is shining. Dogs are welcome to join you for your stay just please ensure that they are kept on leads and supervised at all times. The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act. Campfires and BBQs are permitted as long as they are raised from the ground. Please note, there is currently building work onsite, this shouldn't disrupt your stay but will be finished by Easter.

Large Tent - Electric Grass Tent PitchesAug 2025

We were met at reception - which is the restaurant bar - by a bright, friendly member of staff who ticked us off the sheet before handing us over to an older gentleman who took us outside to explain everything. He pointed out our pitch and told us where the toilets were. The pitches were well kept - with clearly mown grass areas for pitching you tents, clearly separated by fences and then well mown paths back to the toilet block. There were farm animals - sheep, ducks, geese etc - roaming around, which was really nice. So far, so good. However, the toilets and shower facilities were just not ok. The toilets are accessed via the rear of the restaurant/bar into a corridor which leads to the service areas of the bar. This has a bit of a weird feel to it, and you then enter the toilets. I have attached photos. They were not clean, in a state of disrepair with panels off the wall, and some cubicles out of order, and insufficient for the number of campers. The gents toilets have 3 toilet cubicles (plus 2 urinals) and two showers cubicles for the whole site. The women's toilets had 3 cubicles and two working showers. The gents, one of the three toilets was out of order. Of the two remaining cubicles, the door to one had dropped on its hinges so badly that it was a struggle to lock it. This was the same with one of the two shower cubicles. I actually couldn't lock it, even lifting the door on its hinges didn't align the lock halves. I also saw others campers struggling with it. I just think that to have just two working toilets for a site this size is unacceptable. I had to queue to use the loos - even at 2am! Additionally, and I appreciate that this isn't necessarily the fault of the site, but campsite etiquette here was poor! The guy who explained the details did say that it was quiet time on the site after 10pm - and that was fine - but since there were no instructions about what time in the morning it would be acceptable to start making noises, we literally had a family of children and their parents feeding the ducks (loudly) outside our tent at 5:20am! Of course, chickens are lovely - wandering around with their little chicks - but with chickens come cockerels and this one started crowing at just after 4am. Be prepared for that! If you don't mind noise early in the morning, long treks to the toilets and queuing even then, then I am sure this site would be fine for you!

Large Tent - Non Electric Grass Tent PitchesAug 2025

Perfect location, facilities, clean need better standard of repair to toilets, otherwise good. Service at facilities, staff not friendly or chatty, not much verbal information about local area such as villages or jubilee park next to fire and police station for children. Had to find out for ourselves, however, plenty on site to do and exploring. Tree swing lovely, very shallow river, pitches very spacious, fabulous.
