About the site

This family and dog friendly campsite is the ideal location for being within easy reach of some of Devon's most popular attractions. Just five minutes from Clovelly Beach and 30 minutes from Summerleaze Beach, it is great for enjoying all of the seaside charm that this beautiful county has to offer. The site has both 10 amp electric, and non electric pitches, which are available for tents, trailer tents, campervans and touring caravans. All of the pitches measure 6m x 6m and have access to a shared water hook up. For those looking for a little more luxury, there's also a dog friendly Bell Tent furnished with a double bed and two single beds, with bedding included. There is also a fridge, electric lighting and an extension cable inside. Outside, you'll find a private decking area with a table and chairs, a cooking station with utensils and a log burner. For days of family fun, the site is less than a five minute drive from The Milky Way Adventure Park and 15 minutes from Westward Ho! Fire pits and BBQs are both welcome, they are also available to hire. Dogs are welcome, with a maximum of two per pitch.

Onsite facilities include toilets, coin operated showers costing £1 for five minutes, a washing up area and a freezer for ice packs. There's also a children's play area and a small shop selling the essentials and alcohol, along with camping equipment to hire.

There are picnic benches throughout the site, an undercover seating area, and BBQs and fire pits available to hire, as well as weekly communal BBQs.

Enjoy pizza cooked fresh to order on select Saturday nights in the onsite pizza oven at Roey's Food Shack, too.

Woolsery Shop is just a five minute drive from the site and also has a post office. There are three pubs within a five minute drive of the site - The Farmers Arms, The Anchor Inn and the Coach and Horses.

I enjoyed my stay on Roey's Retreat campsite ,i used the site as a base for activities in the area so did not spend a great deal of time on site.The facilities were clean and tidy as i have use of my motor home i did not use the on site facilities. I would certainly stay again if in the area. The site staff were very friendly and accommodating.Thank you very much for a very happy stay.

Site well placed for walking SW coast path, but be aware of road noise as adjacent to A39. Facilities basic, but well kept and clean. On top of £30/night you also need to pay £1 for 5 min shower. Site has 25 pitches, but only 2 showers and 4 toilets - can imagine would cause long queues during busy season. We were only unit on site, yet a walker with single tent chose to pitch literally against our van on our pitch, when 24 other pitches to choose from. Not a fault of the campsite, but would have been nice for them to have asked them to move away from our van. Owner lovely and very helpful, great communications.

Things to do on site and in the Bideford area

The site is in the ideal location for spending a holiday lounging on the beach or splashing around in the sea. Instow Beach (20 minutes) is a great dog friendly sandy beach which is great for wind surfing or simply watching the boats in the harbour.

Summerleaze Beach is also just a 30 minute drive away and is famous for its surfing and golden sand. The beach also has its own tidal pool, which is great for escaping the wavy seas and enjoying a relaxing swim.

Milky Way Adventure Park is situated less than a five minute drive from the site and is the perfect day out for all the family. Enjoy rollercoasters, play areas, dodgems, mini golf, a maze and much more!

Clovely is also just a five minute drive away and is a picturesque fishing village, once owned by the Queen of England. The village clings to a 400 foot cliff and is full of winding cobbled streets and places to eat delicious fresh fish.
