incline Recommends site
Motorhome - Optional Electric Grass Touring Pitches (Awnings) Jun 2026 only reason we gave 4 stars was due to the tv channels we couldn't keep a channel for long and it was hit and miss where to point the aerial. also we pitched on an incline which caused the fridge to stop working, know this was nothing to do with the owners, school boy error on our behalf
Fantastic site and facilities Recommends site
Medium Tent - Electric Grass Pitches Jun 2026 Had a wonderful stay. Facilities were spot on and well maintained, my pitch was pretty level and ground was in good condition. Electric hook up was spot on and in a good position. This was the only site I could find in the area that recognised solo campers and adjusted fees accordingly. I often have to pay a fortune to camp anywhere as they don't recognise solo campers.
Toilet/shower block was always kept clean, there was the odd person who didn't clean up after themselves in the showers by using the squeegee, but it was a simple few seconds job to rectify. My only gripe, if it's possible, would be to be able to change the temperature of the showers. In the really hot weather, I just wanted a cold shower and wasn't able to change the temperature. But for the vast majority of the year, the pre-set temperature is perfect.
Water points were in good locations, however on the lower field I didn't notice a lot of people washing pots and brushing teeth at the taps so maybe a sign to not ask people to do that would be beneficial (but it was mainly the two DofE groups doing that).
The site shop was stocked with everything you could ask for/need and very friendly service. Loved the food van by reception serving breakfast items, coffee, and local beers later in the day. And the big Tarp/shelter with picnic benches underneath as a shady and dry place to consume said items.
The pot wash area was a big bonus, providing washing up liquid and cloths, nice to see more than one sink on a good sized site like this. And providing fridge and microwave was a nice touch for those who needed it.
Quiet time was enforced by site staff if there was still a lot of noise at 10pm and it was silent within 30 mins. The mornings were incredibly quiet until about 7:30/8am which was impressive with the amount of kids on site during my stay.
Seen a few reviews mention the road noise, and yes it was noticeable in the bottom field, but I found it quite soothing and didn't disturb me in any way as it didn't have any noisy vehicles travelling along it.
The shed with BBQs and fire pits in for anyone to use for free was a really thoughtful idea and one I haven't seen at any other site. I'm sure a lot of people use and appreciate the availability.
Overall, fantastic stay, lovely site which is well looked after, and everything worked well, whether the site was half full or at capacity. Loved that the DofE groups had separate toilets and showers, as that was my concern when I came back one night to a field full of them. Didn't notice any extra strain on anything.
Will definitely be back to stay again.
Great campsite Recommends site
Medium Tent - Electric Grass Pitches Jun 2026 Great campsite, really clean and spacious toilet/shower block and very friendly staff.
Arrived an hour early but friendly staff showed us to our pitch and explained everything on the campsite.
Toilet block was immaculate and the showers were good and had plenty of space to change. It would have been nice to have been able to control the water temperature as they are set to 'hot' which is great but we were having a heatwave and would have loved a cool shower.
The small shop was good but an earlier opening time of 08:00 or 08:30 instead of 9 would be useful, but not desperate. The pitch was large and we did have some shade on ours (thankfully!) it was flat then sloped quite steeply but it wasn't a problem as our medium sized tent fitted on the flat part.
It was nice to have recycling bins and there were 2 fridges, a small freezer and a microwave which were free to use and a thoughtful touch. There is also a large field to play ball games etc. It is a really lovely remote campsite, there is only a pub nearby but it's not far from the main routes to Abergavenny and Brecon.
I would highly recommend it
Weekend camping trip Recommends site
Large Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Jun 2026 The site was really nice and the staff were very friendly and greeted us on arrival.
We were directed to our pitch which was fairly flat and a reasonable size. Only negative was the shower water pressure was quite poor.
Nice views! Recommends site
Sprinter-Type Campervan - Optional Electric Grass Touring Pitches (Awnings) Jun 2026 Very nice site with fantastic panoramic views of the Black Mountains.
Enjoyed the Pizza Night accompanied with a cold served beer! Only small criticism, was the pitches are quite close although we were lucky enough to be on a corner pitch with grand view of Brecon Beacons.
Unfortunately, the Farmers Arms mentioned, is not open during the day and apparently only opens when the landlord feels like it. Shame, as this the only pub within walking distance.
Very nice place Recommends site
Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Jun 2026 Very clean, all the facilities you need. Nice little shop and bar on site. Pizza van coming in is a nice touch. Very friendly staff and greeted straight away. Very nice place to stay, peaceful. Would recommend
Nice Recommends site
Sprinter-Type Campervan - Optional Electric Grass Touring Pitches (Awnings) Jun 2026 Overall a good stay. Good facilities. Shop had a good stock. Coffee bar good. Very helpful. Only negative is that despite loads of space they put people virtually next to each other
Lovely little campsite Recommends site
Small Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches Jun 2026 Excellent location for exploring the beautiful Brecons. Everyone was welcoming and helpful. The food and drinks van is a nice touch too!

Shepherds Hut well equipped but not cluttered. Recommends site
Shepherd's Hut - Shepherd's Huts (Dog Friendly) May 2026 I think the Cwmdu site Shepherds Huts are the epitome of luxury.
We slept really well. I thought the hut was well equipped but not cluttered. So nice having our own bathroom facilities. I loved being able to sit out on the deck in the evening with a great view of the hills. Thanks again for a super time.
Good stay on a busy but well organised campsite Recommends site
VW-Type Campervan - Electric Grass Pitches May 2026 We enjoyed our stay at the obviously well run Cwmdu Campsite.
The site was well laid out so we didn't feel too penned in despite being very busy, and it's in a great location with plenty of good walks around the nearby beacons and lower lying countryside. The site is quite close to a road which was a little noisier at night than expected, but this was not enough to interfere with a decent night's sleep.
The other campers were generally respectful of others and good at observing the quiet time from 10pm through to morning.
The staff were very pleasant and helpful, and there was a well stocked, reasonably priced shop, as well as a very useful onsite outdoor cafe/bar.
We found the bathroom facilities to be clean and probably adequate for the number of potential users at capacity. Our only gripe is that the showers were on an annoyingly short push-button timer and the flow and dispersion were poor. The water temperature very variable when other showers were being used at the same time. Possibly only an issue when the site is very busy, and we were able to wash well enough even though it took longer and wasn't quite as enjoyable as usual.
Would be very happy to return in the future 😁
Fantastic stay! Recommends site
Medium Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches May 2026 We had a fantastic stay at Cwmdu campsite and look forward to returning soon. The instructions to find the campsite were easy to follow and the staff on site were extremely accommodating and helpful on arrival. The site had everything needed for our stay and the shower/toilet facilities were fantastic! All of the staff were very friendly and available to answer any questions we had, with one staff member in particular being very helpful to guide us to a local walk along the nearby mountain ridge with breath-taking views across the valleys! The local pub even delivered food and drinks to our pitch which was a really nice touch after a long walk/hike! The onsite shop and van selling food and drinks were well stocked with lots of delicious options including cooked bacon/sausage rolls or fresh goods in the shop to cook for yourself. Overall, we had an amazing stay and will definitely be returning!

Motorhome - Optional Electric Grass Touring Pitches (Awnings) May 2026 This campsite was a gem. Beautiful location. Walk to the pub for Sunday roast! They even do pitch delivery 😊
The butties and coffee on site is a great idea. I noticed Dad’s meeting to enjoy a morning drink! The shop was the best ever. Local produce, fresh milk and bread, meds and so much more.
Would absolutely recommend this site!!

VW-Type Campervan - Electric Grass Pitches Apr 2026 We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Cwmdu.
The staff were helpful and friendly. The ablution facilities were immaculate with plenty of hot water. Fridges, freezers and microwave available for guest use. Pop up Pizza kitchen on Friday evening was superb.
Breakfast and bar facilities were much appreciated! Cleanliness of campsite was excellent.
We shall return! Thank you for a stress free stay.
Stayed at Cwmdu Campsite recently and honestly couldn’t fault it. Recommends site
Large Tent - Electric Grass Pitches Apr 2026 The whole place is spot on—clean, well looked after, and clearly run by people who actually care. Facilities were great, no horror stories (which, let’s be honest, is always a win when camping).
We were originally on a pitch that wasn’t quite right for us, but the staff were brilliant and moved us straight away without any fuss. Ended up on a flatter pitch right next to the park, which was ideal—especially with kids in tow.
Big shout as well to the shop—proper hidden gem. Stocked with what you actually need (not just random tins you’d never eat), plus the pop-up pizza was a serious bonus. After a long day outdoors, that hits different. The walking routes and maps they provide were a great touch too—makes it easy to just get out and explore without overthinking it.
Overall, great setup, great atmosphere, and just an easy place to enjoy a camping trip without any dramas.
Would absolutely recommend—and we’ll definitely be back.

Pub nearby but at end of Oct only open Thurs to Sun. Near to lots of good walking and places to visit.

Lovely and peaceful Recommends site
VW-Type Campervan - Optional Electric Grass Covered Hardstanding Pitches (Awnings) Sep 2025 Had a wonderful 3 night stay. Fantastic experience, all facilities clean and easy to reach.
Happy to find a microwave for campers, would love to have seen a kettle as well, especially for tent campers.
Staff were really helpful and the food in shop was great and good value - definitely try the sausages (they're from a local butcher in Crickhowell), if the shop hasn't run out.
Would suggest a bit more lighting away from the toilets and wash area.
Overall, would definitely recommend for a few nights of peace and quiet!!
Lovely site and amazing team Recommends site
