A note from the site themselves...

In 2019, after a long journey, we finally secured planning permission to build a new campsite on my family's old farmland. The biggest obstacle was the protected round barrow at the entrance, so naming the site after it felt right, Anchor Barrow just fitted. With a lively one-year-old, Rex, and another baby on the way, we knew it would be a challenge, but we went for it.

We began with two fields, an empty vision, and an old barn. Services came first: we upgraded the water supply, brought in new electric, and installed a huge septic tank with a long drainage field. For months, the land looked like a battlefield of trenches and mud.

Building the toilet block during one of the wettest winters delayed us, and just as it was finished, the sun arrived, and then lockdown. While restrictions slowed us, they gave us time to repair the fields and reseed the damage. By July 4th, 2020, when reopening was announced, we were flooded with bookings. With no software ready, we ran everything on a spreadsheet and somehow made it to opening day.

Launching a new campsite in strange times, with storms, kids under two, and the rest of life happening around us, was intense. But our campers were patient and kind, and our family, friends, and brilliant team carried us through. We set out to create a simple, relaxed site with quality facilities, and we keep improving based on the feedback we receive.
