Fabulous holiday
Single Axle Caravan - Electric Hardstanding and Grass Touring Pitches May 2026 Myself and partner and our wee dog stayed at the campsite for 3 nights. We had a very enjoyable time. The location was lovely beside the river and facilities were clean and comfortable. The manager of the site (sorry I forgot to ask his name, but I remember his dog Brian) was very friendly and helpful.
The campsite is in a great location for both the coast and visiting many areas in the Lake District. I would definitely recommend a visit to Stanley Ghyll waterfall and a hair raising drive up over Hardknot Pass and Wrynos Pass. The drive is not for the faint hearted, however it is well worth it and the views are spectacular. Do not attempt to take a caravan or large vehicle as you will be stuck in the hairpin bends and extremely steep gradients. The other side of the pass leads to the north end of Lake Windermere, which us also beautiful. The local Bridge Inn is a 2min walk and convenient for good food and booze.
Overall, we had a great time.

First stay
VW-Type Campervan - Electric Hardstanding and Grass Pitches May 2026 The camp site is a really great little site, tucked away in a fantastic part of the lakes. Really quiet site, nicely laid out and easily accessible from all directions. Lovely with the river running around the site 24/7! Will definitely be coming back!

Friendly and fabulous little campsite
Single Axle Caravan - Electric Hardstanding and Grass Touring Pitches May 2026 We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Old Post Office Campsite, we arrived to a friendly welcome from staff who were great throughout our stay.
Toilets, showers (50p) and laundry room were modern and kept immaculate at all times.
Free WiFi was a bonus! Pub with fabulous food just a few minutes walk.. river running through the site kept our children entertained in the extremely hot weather!

But well spaced pitches. Very clean & tidy.

Nice place
VW-Type Campervan - Electric Hardstanding and Grass Pitches Apr 2026 Fab little campsite. Great location for Scarfell and Wastwater. Staff are helpful and friendly.
Decent pub just across the road and two cafes nearby.
The beach is less than 20 mins drive away.
Pitches are level with hookup etc. we had a pitch backing onto the river which was nice. Picnic table with each pitch.
