Clean, quiet campsite

Bell Tent - Bell Tents (Dog Friendly)Aug 2026

We stayed in a bell tent, with great views. The site was quiet and the glamping toilets and showers were spotless with good water pressure. Good cooking and washing up facilities too, with a small fridge and freezer. Tent had a double bed and 2 singles, cutlery and crockery, bed linen, towels, tea towel, a kettle, cool box with ice packs and drawers for clothes. The only suggestion for improvement would be indoor seating for if it is wet. There is Wi-Fi but as is to be expected in a rural location it is patchy so if you have children it might be worth downloading things they might want to watch before you arrive. There was a pizza van on-site on Friday evening which was good value and well cooked. There are swings and play area for younger children. You do need to drive to and from the campsite really and it would be worth speaking to the owners if you have mobility issues so you can book the right pitch as there are some steep slopes. Would highly recommend.

Nice facilities, road noise significant

Large Tent - Non Electric Grass Pitches (Lower Willow)Aug 2026

The check-in and facilities were great. However, the non-electric pitches are right next to the road and not in the main part of the campsite. Whilst this is mentioned, it's only when you are there that it becomes clear that the road noise is extreme (heavy farm machinery and lorries + busy at all times). Also, being right next to the barrier at the entrance means increased camp traffic too. We also had some excessive noise from one of the holiday properties on site on Saturday night that meant I got up at 2am to walk round and tell them I couldn't sleep. Thankfully they reduced their noise. It's worth noting that the photos were of the main campsite and not of the non-electric pitches next to the barrier. My friend's daughter did enjoy the swings but had to wait to be taken as it's in the main part, out of sight. Again, this is mentioned, but I think I missed it whilst trying to process all the different pros and cons in my research. These pitches better suit adults with no kids and campervans with sound proofing. The campsite was good value, easy to locate and easy to access Bude and surrounding area.

Site's response

Thank you for taking the time to leave such a detailed review. We're pleased to hear that you found check-in straightforward, the facilities good, and the park good value and well located for exploring Bude and the surrounding area. We're sorry that the location of your non-electric pitch was not what you expected. These pitches are situated separately from the main camping area, close to the entrance and adjacent to the road, and we do try to make this clear in the pitch descriptions. However, we appreciate that it can be difficult to fully judge the level of road noise from a description alone, and we will review the information and photographs to see whether we can make the location of these pitches clearer before booking. All of our pitches are electric optional; however, as you can imagine in peak season, these do fill up fast. As your booking was very close to you stay in August, all our pitches were fully booked. Regarding the noise from one of the holiday properties, we are sorry that this disturbed you so late at night. Our quiet hours apply across the whole park, and guests should not have been placed in the position of having to deal with excessive noise themselves. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention, we do have an emergency phone number which if you had rang and raised the issue, we could have dealt with this on your behalf. Unfortunately we can't deal with an issue after the event. The play area is located within the main part of the park and, as you mention, is not directly beside the non-electric pitches. We understand that this may make those pitches less convenient for families with younger children, whereas their location may suit other guests who are looking for a simpler, more accessible pitch. Thank you again for your feedback. We are glad there were several aspects of your stay that you enjoyed, and we will take your comments on board when reviewing how these pitches are presented on our website.

A note from the site themselves...

We have recently taken over Willow Valley Holiday Park after farming in Shropshire for a large number of years. Both of us were looking for a change in our respective careers and we found Willow Valley and immediately fell in love and felt it provided us and our family the perfect opportunity for a change.

We are always making ongoing improvements to ensure our site is the best it can be. Any returning campers will be glad to know we aren't changing the campsite, though. Why would we do that when it is already so perfect? We hope to welcome you here soon, Becky and John
