We picked the site because of its woodland setting, it's location and that it was very fairly priced. The owners are lovely people, very welcoming and knowledgeable about the local area and beaches. I will be recommending it to my family and friends.

Single Axle Caravan - Optional Electric Hardstanding Touring PitchesAug 2026

This site has a very natural feel, set in a glade of trees with a variety of pitches to suit tents, motorhomes and caravans. It is ideal for children to play safely, with a good play area and a small swimming pool that can be booked for your family to enjoy. On-site food vans and a strong focus on recycling and reusing. Forde Abbey is very close by with an excellent café and gardens.

Large Tent - Optional Electric Grass PitchesJul 2026

A great place made better by great people running the site. Very peaceful and beautiful. The onside shop supports local businesses which is a lovely thought. Also a very keen site for recycling rubbish which I've never seen before. We can't wait to return. Thankyou

Lovely, quiet stay

Large Tent - Optional Electric Grass PitchesJul 2026

We loved it! It was our first camping trip since we had kids and absolutely spot on. Family friendly with a play area and family bathroom. Beautiful spot with lots of trees that keeps you in the shade during hot days. Close to Jurassic coast. It took us 25 min to drive to the nearest beach. We will definitely come back there.

Beautiful setting , generous pitch size

Alpine grove is a small family run touring camp site. It is just outside Chard in a stunning oak woodland. There is an outdoor pool on site, not overly large, but fantastic for cooling off in. A rustic play area for kids and the small site shop carries essentials. Clean toilet/shower block with hair dryers. The hosts were welcoming and very helpful. It was an ideal short break - will definitely be back. Fire pits and BBQs are permitted.

Roof Tent - Optional Electric Grass PitchesMay 2026

This was the last minute booking for me and my son to visit the Jurassic coast. The owners were very welcoming and the site was clean and well laid out. The campsite was very family friendly with my son, making friends with other children and playing in a nice safe environment. Highly recommended for families.

Roof Tent - Optional Electric Woodland PitchesSep 2025

This is a lovely wooded site with spacious pitches. It has an outdoor heated swimming pool, that during busier times, you can book a 45 minute slot. Well stocked shop with local bacon and sausages etc. Board games can be loaned out from the shop too. Water taps and hook-ups close by. There is a short nature walk through rhododendrons which I'm sure would be bursting with colour when in bloom. Toilets, showers and washing up area are ok, but obviously being in a wooded area they have their fair share of spiders. Children's area quite small, but adequate. I also noticed electric car charging points. I only had a one night stay and didn't explore the surrounding area, but was told the abbey is a 45 minute walk, so will definitely check that out on my next stay. If you don't mind a few acorns dropping on your tent in the night it's a peaceful site to visit. There is a road running along the back of the site, but didn't bother me much. All rubbish is recycled here and reception will give you a waste food bag and a recycling bag, so be sure to bring your own black sacks for things you can't recycle and take away your own rubbish. Overall, I love this site and will be back

Single Axle Caravan - Optional Electric Hardstanding Touring PitchesAug 2025

Campsite was a lovely, nice quite site in amongst the woods. Has a heated swimming pool, ideal for children & swing play area. There is a man who has mobile street food, wraps & pancake wagon from 6pm, lovely food. Only little thing maybe more snacks, biscuits in the shop and toilets and showers were a bit cobwebby. Also maybe a mop & bucket to rinse showers out. Lovely place, close to Lyme Regis, Bridport definitely worth visiting Fordes Abbey. We will definitely be going back, also lovely people who run it, Thank you for our stay x

Fantastic site, will be back

Single Axle Caravan - Optional Electric Hardstanding Touring PitchesAug 2025

Just got home after a wonderful stay on site. Two adults and two children aged 6. Pool really good and not too cold which was nice. We have a 6 berth caravan and all went well. My only gripe was the signage. Only visible from one way and if you drive past, it's a bit of a struggle to turn around with the caravan on the back, apart from that, all good. Going to places by the sea was only about 25 minutes away, which worked very well. Kids made lots of friends which was great. So overall 10/10.

Lovely campsite
