Good stay, especially when camped next to river

Fabulous stay at Tyn Cornel, the site was brilliant in a great location right on the river with a lovely walk and 10 minute drive from Bala. Staff were lovely and accommodating. Would absolutely recommend and would stay again.

Lovely location

Beautifully positioned by the river and a great base to explore the surrounding areas. The site itself was very pleasant and well laid out. Unfortunately, the facilities need a little more attention. There were only 3 women's shower cubicles for the whole site and they were very small, making it rather difficult to get dry and changed. A larger cubicle or another area with space to get dry and dressed is needed. The showers themselves had very poor pressure and the shower/toilet block had lots of mould and dirt. There was one small freezer for the entire campsite. As we had a non electric grass pitch, we were reliant on using ice blocks and a cool box, but the freezer was packed full of frozen ready meals and other food, so we couldn't use it. A freezer just for ice packs or a larger freezer would be much better. Overall, with a few improvements, it would be a great place to return to.

Very nice site, in an ideal location to use as a base for adventuring or even just to explore the local areas. Site was well kept, and all the facilities were well maintained and clean Would definitely recommended and would come back again in the future

very beautiful place, the river flowing nearby gives a feeling of comfort... peaceful, quiet... I recommend it to people who want to relax in nature.

Camping at Tyn Cornel

The site was very nice with spacious electric grass pitches and a satellite toilet and washing up area, no long walks to the loo! It also had a recycling area to the back. There is a spacious field for non electric which is next to a fast flowing river, banked by trees and a fence. There is also a separate caravan and camper field, with hard standings located next to the main facilities, including toilets and accessible toilet, showers, washing up area and a laundry, reception and shop and recycling area. The staff were very friendly and helpful, they regularly cleaned the facility throughout the day and we had no complaints about cleanliness. The biggest disappointment was the showers, the gents showers were too few and small with a curtain rather than doors. The only dry space for your clothes was shared benches with hooks above of which there was only 2 for the 5 showers, I personally thought this was not ideal for a family campsite. The ladies showers were very small and hard to keep stuff dry though they did have doors. The site is dog friendly throughout. The location was perfect for us right next door to the white water sports centre and close to a lot of attractions in Snowdonia National Park which has the most stunning scenery and landscapes.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Great location, good facilities, clean and tidy site. The children loved the on site milkshake machine.

As usual, basic services, not level, but all there. Main service block, a bit cramped only one hand dryer, otherwise ok.

Amazing place where to stay in North Wales

We were lucky with pitch. Remote from rest of people. Itself pitch was wide and well maintained. We had a great stay by the fire. Would recommend this place.

absolutely perfect

We are completely new to camping, and booked our 1st ever camping here. We were able to get last min booking with early check-in to accommodate for my disabilities... Just absolutely perfect from start to finish and super friendly 👌 Facilities we're impeccable clean, and the campsite was idyllic. Will definitely be returning and making a regular.

Beautiful location

The site is beautiful, and in a lovely location, the river is so pretty, my kids loved splashing in the evening in there, it is a fast flowing river so we put the kids life jackets on to be safe, the facilities are perfect, and the the little shop was good and the vending machine for milk and milkshakes it also had a coffee,tea and hot chocolate machine, only down side is the getting breath and food you need if stopping longer, but the local supermarket delivery to campsite, but they book up quickly, the only down side is the midgies at night, I have so many bites, so big spray is needed lol but we had a lovely time and the lovely couple who tun the campsite where fantastic. It would be great if a little play park was placed on site 😊

Hi Carol, thank you for your review, we are glad you had a good time. We have considered stocking more items but sadly there is not enough call for them. We understand the midges are a nightmare, they are unavoidable due to being so close to the river, we do stock candles, incense sticks and bug repellent spray in the shop.

Making memories

What a lovely break the staff are really friendly and helpful the camp site is clean and plenty of room on your pitch the walk along the stream to the white water centre is stunning and the food in the cafe is very reasonable we will definitely look to book again

Good location for families, stargazers and canoeists

The site is in a lovely area but not a lot can be seen from the actual campsite, which is enclosed by tall trees: so no sipping coffee in the morning admiring the views (which I like to do). No light pollution meant it was clear enough to see the Milky Way- so great views above! The facilities are old but clean.

Peaceful

Peaceful with beautiful river running through it. Staff were very helpful. Facilities were basic but maintained. Not much for children to do at campsite. The milk, coffee and ice cream vending machines were definitely a hit. Would definitely use again if we were to visit the area again.

Lovely campsite

Tyn Cornel was a lovely campsite. I camped there for 5 nights and it was very peaceful and set in a beautiful area. The showers were hot and all the facilities were cleaned regularly and in good condition. It was the perfect location for exploring Snowdonia, within a half an hour to an hours drive for exploring lots of the tourist spots I wanted to see including Snowdon, Portmeirion and Cearnarvon. Staff were very helpful.

Great location

We were able to take a short walk up to the white water centre. A short drive from Bala town - about 5 mins. Clean and tidy site. Showers were on the small side and basic, but clean and tidy Staff were friendly and welcoming.

Weekend stay

Toilet block a bit too far and dark, kids play area would be good.

Lively, well appointed site

With the exception of a lack of privacy when changing for the men's showers, we found the site to be everything we wanted.
