Twll Y Clawdd Touring and Camping Park is a ten minute dive from the base of Mount Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa) and five minutes from the town of Caernarfon, so there is something for everyone! Welcoming tents and tourers across 35 pitches with the option of electric too, this site also has a stylish bell tent too for up to four! The site caters for four legged friends with an enclosed exercise field. Ten minute drive to the coast.

Having stayed at so many campsites, it was a strange one to us, you can only pay half before arriving so you have to pay the balance on arrival. Then pre-pay an electric card, fill in a form, food waste bag and a massive list of rules given to you. Not a bad experience, just a very odd one. We've never had to do any of this before. Site was nice and clean and well kept. Showers are small and one push of the button lasts around 7 seconds of water. Overall, nice site, just not for us. Not much around, just a massive housing estate. We did manage to walk to the pub though with darts and pool about 15 mins walk away.

Hi Victoria, thank you for letting us know. We take information from guests as a safety precaution, so we always have an idea of who we have on site for obvious reasons, and we like to know if any of our visitors are heading up Snowdon so we know if anybody doesn't return then we need to take appropriate action. Sorry if you found that strange, but it's not something we will stop doing. We find it easier to give everybody a list of rules on arrival to avoid grey areas for anybody. Sorry that was strange to you as well. I'm glad you found one of the local pubs. I think your husband was preparing to have to drive out of the village to find somewhere until I googled the opening times and we gave the directions, so I'm glad you made it there. It's such a shame you didn't enjoy the area, with Llanberis lake, Zipworld, beaches, and of course, Snowdon being so close to us. The 'massive housing estate' that you're referring to, we are in a small residential village, full of lovely local people, but once in the site, we are surrounded by fields, so I'm sorry the area beyond our drive affected your stay to that extent. Perhaps you could email me with some feedback on what you were expecting from our site when you read our listing and decided to book so we can avoid disappointing anyone else? That's okay that we are 'not a bit of you', but thank you for taking the time to leave a review. Happy camping :)

Absolutely loved our time here, the site is very tidy and set in a lovely area. The facilities were great and were always kept clean. The location is great as its close to main towns and shops and also Llanberis where we started our Snowdon hike. There's buses every hour also. The owners are very friendly and helpful. we loved our stay so much that we wanted to book an extra night but they were fully booked, that in itself tells you something. Can't wait to go back again soon.

Absolutely gorgeous family-run site! Probably one of the cleanest, well-kept sites we've been to. We stayed over a bank holiday weekend so it was busy, but the facilities were always clean. The owners are lovely and friendly, and we were within a good distance of two of the Zipworld sites, which made it even better for us as we had activities planned at both. Would definitely recommend.

Great base for Snowdonia trips

Fab site to stay for Zip World, Snowdon related stuff and gorgeous views. We spent 4 nights and after an 8 hour, drive hosts were there to welcome us as they live onsite. Bathrooms and showers are warm and clean. Pitch was on a slight slope which was troublesome sleeping but doable. Would come again.

Short but sweet stay at this site but couldn't fault. Owner seriously helped us out after our very long drive and stupidly missing parts of our tent, which we are so thankful for! Facilities were great and super clean too. Would visit again 👍

Clean, comfortable and has great facilities. Staff were very nice and helpful. There is a space for walking your dog too. Would definitely come back here.

My partner and I stayed here for a long weekend. It was the perfect little break. The campsite was very clean; the showers and toilets were immaculate at all times. We had plenty of room to pitch our tent in a nice tucked away spot. Sophie was brilliant, we were able to get in contact with her straight away before our stay. We will definitely be coming back again! We recommend visiting Treath Llanddwyn Beach as there is a lovely walk and lots to see with some history.

Very well kept campsite. Facilities were nice and clean. And a great location too - short drive to plenty of shops/pubs/restaurants and great access to be able to climb Snowdon too! Also great that we could hire a fire pit for £5 a night.

2 nights at this lovely site, camping with 2 little ones, loved running around with plenty of space and having the fire pit hire was brilliant. Owners were absolutely amazing with us, very clean facilities, highly recommended, will be back 100%. Thank you.

Booked for a night away at short notice to test our setup before a long distance camp away. The site was perfect! Location was great. Just a quick walk away from two local shops, and a couple of pubs too. Only a quick drive from the nearest town. Close to the main road but could not hear or see any passing cars, it was a very peaceful stay. Everyone on site respected the site rules - a bonus, as some sites can be a little noisy after dark. The site was very well maintained and set up. Facilities were great - everything you'd need. Monitored and cleaned well and regularly. The owners were always on hand. Could not fault the site, and I'm sure we will be back for another stay.

We had a really good camping trip staying here! First time but would definitely return and recommend as a great base for north Wales. The facilities are also extremely good and there's a nice, cheap chippy down the road.

Last minute weekend away with my two boys camping. Of course I forgot things, but that wasn't a problem, because nothing was too much trouble for Sophie and Dan, plus the youngest helpers were just as great. A lovely and clean site that is easily accessible to other locations. We will definitely be back!

The site was clean and comfortable, with newly refurbished facilities. Small, family feel and run by super friendly and accommodating people. Perfect location to jump on the Sherpa bus to multiple Snowdon starting points and other lovely locations. Highly recommend!

Had a lovely week staying at Twll Y Clawdd Touring and Camping Park. The site is run very well and the facilities are clean and well maintained. Found the location great for accessing various activities around the area. The host are very welcoming and always around if you had any questions. The site is quiet and everyone staying were friendly. Would definitely stay again.

This is actually a really nice and well kept site but I have to be really honest with my review. The pitch was okay, albeit sloped, which we were kind of expecting, made things a little difficult when having drinks and food, things kept sliding off the table but we had a bit of a laugh about it. I don't think the site rules are enforced as they should be, there were children running and biking/playing between the fields after dark with no adults in site. In my opinion, this poses a health and safety risk, not to mention the quite rules. I think I remember seeing more than 2 fields on this site. I think it would be better to separate the families from the couples, or at least give the option. Whilst we expected it to be busy and there be children due to the holidays, this site is more than big enough to give options to stay in a quieter area if required, we had very noisy people either side of us so wasn't a very relaxing stay. The thing that bothered me most was the showers, they were scolding hot. I must have stood in the cubicle waiting for the temperature to regulate for 5 mins or so and I just could get under it without it feeling red hot. I gave up in the end and didn't bother. I worry for the elderly and young children as I don't think they would have been able to stand that kind of heat. My husband loves a hot shower, but he could only dip in and out very quickly. Also, there wasn't much ventilation in the toilet/shower block, it was like a sauna in there. I wouldn't stay again purely for this reason. Overall, the site is really well kept and they are doing a lot of things right, but lots could be improved.

Hi Maria Firstly, let me thank you for taking the time to write such a detailed review. We do appreciate it. You're absolutely right, there is room to separate families and couples a lot of the time, and we try to do that if and when requested, but of course with it being summer holidays we have a huge amount of bookings for families with children so it is not always achievable. For the level of noise I can only apologise. Had we been made aware of particularly noisy guests we would have acted on it. With regards to enforcing the rules around the children playing after dark, we try our very best. Admittedly, as with all family run places I'm sure, we are vastly outnumbered when it comes to the guests, and things can go unchallenged. But regardless of that, we agree with you that it is something that shouldn't be happening for health and safety reasons, and will do our very best to keep an even closer eye on it. Showers - thank you very much for bringing that to our attention. We will look at that first thing tomorrow, which will reduce the sauna like feeling in the room! Thank you for appreciating our little site for what it is. I'm sorry it wasn't for you, and we're grateful that you have told us why. We will work hard to improve on the points you've raised.
